When Jack mentioned Blake, Ava's expression change and she just nodded, staying silent for a moment. "Yeah..okay.." she replied simply, not wanting to think about that part of her life. It was the reason she'd been pushing herself in to work and her friends and everything but the problem itself. She was starting to become that person that always avoided conflict.

"So.." He said thinking her answer odd. He knew Ava well and even though he couldnt read it off her face he could hear it in her voice. " Everything's good with you though?" He asked her, pushing just a bit more. He wished he could rip the bandages off, he was so frustrated. His nuckles turned white from his grip digging into the sheet over his knees.

She wanted to just be honest and tell her friend it wasn't, but optimistic, she knew it could always be worse..like his life at the moment. She felt bad for him. Not pity, but bad. "Yeah..yeah, I'm fine." she assured him, trying her best to sound okay. "Just keeping busy with things, but other than that not a lot is new."

"Alrighty then." He said with a grin as he folded his hands behind his head. "I'd ask if you wanted to watch a movie or play cards but I had a small accident and you know- its a bit blurry." He said with a small laugh trying to make lite of it.

Ava laughed too this time..just like Jack to make a joke and who was she to argue it. "So let me guess..Scott's been bugging you to tears, telling you to get out and smell the scenery type of thing?" she teased, smiling at him as she got off the bed and moved to the kitchen. "Got anything to drink?" she asked as she looked into his fridge.

"I've just given up on Scott at this point, if he comes up to annoy me or bring me food- I play dead." He said sitting up more at the feeling of her getting up from the bed. He was trying to catch where her voice was traveling but had difficulty." Yeah there should be some sort of soda or juice..few bottles of water in the back" He said remembering the last look he had of the fridge.

Ava nodded and pulled out a bottle of water. "Want something?" she asked, before closing it and leaning against the counter as she opened up the water bottle and took a sip. It was only right to ask if he wanted something too.

"Nah I haven't had an appetite since I got home." They told him in the hospital that the loss of hunger would be a side effect of the withdrawls and everything else that he had to go through like surgery, detox, and some other things. " Help yourslef to anything in there..I think theres some junk food above the fridge." He said leaning forward a bit.

Ava put her water down and looked above the fridge where he'd said, finding a bag of chips. Meh, it worked. Running a hand through her hair, she grabbed the chips and her water and went back to the bed. "Are you sure you don't want anything? These chips are really good.." she said, teasingly holding the open bag by his nose so he could smell them. She laughed.

" Sure and then when my arteries clog with the grease and pig fat that makes them just so god damn tasty, i'll thank you." He said with a smirk. He rubbed his head hard at the starting of a headache. They came and went, it could have been worse.

"Oh I'm trained in CPR." Ava joked. "I could revive you..at least until my arms got tired." She laughed a little and ate some herself, bringing the bag back. She caught him rubbing his head, guessing it was sore. "Do you want something for that?" she asked. "The headache I mean.."

"It happens, nothing I can really do about it." He said leaning over to the side table and pulling a few bottles out. He undid each cap and pulled atleast 2 out from each before returning them to the jar. He swalled them all down dry as if they were candy. There was so much medicine he was taking he didn't even remember the difference. "So, how's the journalism thing going for ya?" He asked.

Journalism..To say she'd written anything lately would've been a lie. She'd been so..uninspired. It felt like a lifetime ago that it had been her world..her dream. "It's not." she replied, deciding to just be honest about it. "I took a break from the paper and decided against interning this summer..Just..needed a change." she said with a simple shrug.

If he could have, he would have blinked dramatically, "Wait your not writting..your the next Austen or hemmingway and your in need of a change?" He said a bit amazed. There were only a few things he was ever sure of and Ava being a writer was one of them.

Ava simply shrugged. "Things change." she replied. "People change.." If there was one thing Ava knew it was that. People changed. Maybe she'd been a different person back then..she sure didn't feel like that girl that had come to Point Pleasant with the dream of being the next great American author..She took a drink from her water.
