Finally, Kennedy had been working all day it had seemed and just wanted to get home. She'd been slapped by little kids, had food and drinks spilt on her, and got hollered at for a bill being too high (not her fault by the way), and right now she just wanted to go home and crash. "Bye guys!" Kennedy called back to the other waitresses that were still there counting up their tips as she walked out the door.
I thought this day would never end. And to think, I get to wake up tomorrow morning and do it all over again... Kennedy was really starting to dislike this job, but had no other options right about now. She did what she had to do and never complained...well out loud anyway. She stepped over to her car and unlocked the door. She threw her purse and apron in the passanger seat and slid in the driverside door. She slipped her key into the ignition and cranked it to start the car, but for some reason the car had just spit and sputtered but would not turn on. Kennedy frantically searched for why this car wasn't working, but couldn't figure out why she couldn't get it started.
Eventually she stopped trying and smacked the steering wheel. She let out a sigh and let her forehead fall against the wheel gently. She opened her eyes a bit and noticed the control for the lights had been on. She'd ran over to the store during her break and had forgotten to turn the lights off when she was rushing back to work. "No, no, no, this can't be happening!" she groaned as she stepped out of her car and looked around for somebody who could hopefully jump her. She'd hoped she had jumper cables in the trunk, and walked around to find out.

It had been a few weeks now since the accident and everything with Ava. Keeping to himself was getting tiresome and this day couldn't have come sooner. Today he was to get an eye test to see where he was and if the bandages could be removed. They were removed but with a warning to stay off the road for another week and to not strain on the eyes to much for a bit...the doctor obviously didn't know who he was talking to . It was such a relief to see again, jack hadn't been this excited about anything before in his life. He thought about celebrating with a bottle of Jack but chose the abstinent way and went to the coffee shop to get a large black on instead. He hadn't spoken much to Ava since that day and was ultimately trying to avoid her for the time being, which happened to be the only reason he hadn't gone back to The Orchid yet. He fucked up and what happened between them was see in two different lights. Sitting at a red light he tried to push this out of his mind, which happened pretty abruptly at the sound of a horn nearby. He remembered Kennedy from school but hadn't seen her in a long time since he left as soon as graduation was over. It obviously wasn't a good time for her and looked as though she was having car troubles. The light turned green and he pulled the truck over to her car. He was always under the hood when he was younger and thought he could help. "Hey," He called out the passenger window to her as he removed his aviators, " You got some car trouble?" He asked.

Kennedy had been snooping through the trunk with no luck of finding any jumper cables. "Damnit," she mumbled as she huffed and slammed the trunk door shut. She walked back to the driver side door and slid back into the car. "Damnit, damnit, damnit," she pouted letting her forehead drop to her steering wheel and accidentally hitting the horn. The sound of the horn made her jump back a bit in her seat, and when she saw a truck pulling in behind her she jumped from her car and felt a bit of relief.
The voice was familiar but she couldn't quite place the face. She'd seen him before, probably around school, but she wasn't sure if she'd ever even spoken to him. Right about now that was the least of her worries though as she heard him call out the window asking if there was trouble. "You could say that," she sort of hated the next part where she had to tell somebody she'd been stupid enough to leave her lights on and kill the battery. "I think it's just the battery...I sort of forgot to turn off the lights when I got back from break a while ago..." Yup, this was about the time that he'd peg her as another dumb blonde, a stereotype she was rather sick of hearing. Sadly enough she'd proved it by doing something as dumb as keeping her lights on. How could she had not heard that annoying ring when she stepped out of the car alerting her that she'd forgotten to shut something off.
"Looked in my trunk and don't have any jumper cables either." She bit the corner of her lip in hopes that the man that had came to her rescue would happen to have them in his truck somewhere. Most normal people carry some just for these cases, but never has Kennedy been entirely normal.

Jack nodded at what she said before pulling the pickup in front of her car and parking. He got out and pulled his sweatshirt off, he didn't mind getting his white shirt dirty - his sweatshirt was another story. He undid the door on the flatbed and pulled forward a generator he had and used whenever his car would crap out. " Just turn the engine off for now but stay in there." He said checking the battery level on his generator before going to the hood of her car. The light reflected into his eyes and he squinted as he lifted the hood up, forgetting how brutal the sun could be.

Kennedy wasn't about to go against his orders when it meant getting her car back up and running, so she just sat up in her seat a bit higher and let out a little giggle. "Can't turn the engine off when I can't even get it started now can I?" she teased a bit looking around hoping that this guy could fix her car. Sure the engine would click and sputter but it wouldn't turn over entirely. She watched out her rear view mirror and followed him as he walked around to the front of her car. She reached down to pop the hood for him.
After he'd opened the hood she poked her head out of the window so she could see him better. "You have no idea how grateful I am for this," she spoke rather easily as she was very intrigued to see what he was doing. "Need some shades?" she asked when she'd noticed him squinting. "Girls but i'm sure they'd do the trick..." She was trying to be nice and offer him something since he'd been nice enough to stop for her in the first place.

"The frame doesn't quite match my face." He said with a smirk as he pulled the cables over to the front and attached them to the car battery. It wasn't that bad looking car, not a bad looking driver either, he thought with a smirk as he walked back over to his car and turned the generator and than began to pulling the cord a few times before a yellow light turned on and the generator began to cough up the power. The light turned Green and he wiped the grease on his hands off on the bottom of his shirt. He went over to her in the driver's seat and told her to start it up slowly and pump the pedal.

"It's not about matching your face, it's about keeping that sun out of the eyes of the man who is trying to fix my car. Don't want you blinded by the sun fumbling around messing more things up underneath the hood." She teased even more as she grabbed her sunglasses from the dash and waved them in a sarcastic manner. In the end she knew he probably wouldn't take them, but it was fun keeping this little game going. "OKay here goes nothing," she said as she turned the key in the ignition and pumped the pedal just a bit. Her foot accidentally slipped and she pushed the pedal down hard making the car roar and than release a small puff of smoke. She had no idea if that was usual or not, but the car hadn't had any problems before this so she just ignored it. It took a few revs but she'd seemed to get the car to start sputtering more and finally turn over. "My hero," she said with a smile as she looked over at Jack standing next to her.

"Yes, well everybody gets one." He before moving around the car and shutting the generator off. He walked over to the hood and hesitated before touching the cables and then trying to take them off the battery. He shocked himself lightly, nothing major, a shake of his hand and the tingly feeling dissapeared. He rolled the cables up and closed the back of the flatbed before closing the hood of her car. " Next time you should probably check that everything happens to be off in the car before leaving." He said with a smirk as he shoved his hands deep into his pockets.

Kennedy had crouched her head down to see under the hood of her car to watch Jack even more. She hadn't known that he'd shocked himself, all except for when she'd seen his hand jolt and him shake it a bit. She jumped out of her car fast in case if he'd been seriously injured, but he seemed to shake the pain (if there even was some) rather easily but she still wanted to make sure he was alright. A simple "You okay?" was all she'd asked him before she clammed up and looked down over her engine and everything that was under the hood. When he'd made his comment about making sure everything was turned off she laughed a bit and ran a hand through her golden blonde locks thinking again about the stereotype. "You must think I was pretty dumb huh?" she asked quietly with a slight quirk of the corner of her lip. "I can assure you that I won't let this happen again...pretty sure it's not good for the battery or something like that." She was definitely going to make sure from now on that everything would be shut off, who knew the next time somebody would just happen to roll past her with a generator and some cable.
"I owe you one definitely." she stated matter of factly as she leaned against her car. "Do I at least get to know the name of the gentleman who saved the day?" She was sure she knew him but for some reason couldn't place him.

"You should probably look into getting a new belt as well, I mean yours is okay but its old and doesn't match up with the engine." He said with a smile as he leaned back against his tailgate. "Name's Jack, your Kennedy right? I think we went to school together." He said knowing that she wouldn't remember him, his teachers didn't even remember him when he was still attending the school, thanks to the fact he barely showed up.

A new belt? The only belts Kennedy had ever had to worry about were those that went around her waist, and even then she would buy pants tight enough to hug her body and not loose enough to fall off, so she was pretty much at a loss when it came to belts for cars. "I'll have to bring my car back to the dealer and see what they have to say. I get taken for a ride whenever I walk into parts stores. I go in for one thing and come out with eight." She had walked in needing new brake shoes one day for just her back tire, and had ended up buying everything she'd needed to change all four of her tires brakes.
"I feel bad since you remember me and I can't quite put my finger on who you are..." once he had said that they went to school together she did remember catching glimpses of him in the hall, that is when he was even around the halls. She slipped in her pocket and pulled out a wad of tips she had made for the day. She grabbed a twenty (she traded in small bills for larger ones at end of day) and pointed it towards him. "I know it's normally forty dollars or so an hour for labor, but I don't think you were here for quite an hour...but still definitely worth the twenty dollars." she'd felt bad because she didn't really know anything else she could have offered him for taking time out of his schedule to help her.

He shook his head with a small smile, " Thanks but you can keep it, invest in something good." He said with a smirk. He looked down at his shoes and than back up at her. In the past he would have asked her to get a drink with him later on but that definitely wasn't something he would do now, not after everything that happened with that. " How about you let me buy you a coffee instead?" He said with a smile.

Kennedy definitely wasn't used to having guys do things for her wanting nothing in return, so sort of didn't know how to react. She stuffed the twenty dollar bill back in her pants, she was really disorganized after a days work, and looked at him sort of confused with a hint of curiousness. "You're driving down the road, see me here and decide to take time out of your day to help me, and in the end you want to be the one to buy me a coffee?" Was this guy seriously for real? Maybe she had to take into consideration that they'd all grown up and were more mature, but still he just didn't seem to fit the norm when it came to males. "Let me buy you yours and it's a deal." She had to at least do something for him, even if it was as simple as buying him a cup of coffee.

"MaybeI still Believe in chivalry?" He suggested to her with a small laugh, "Coffee will be on me today." He said as with his signature smirk," If you uh want we could go up to cafe pleasant." He suggested thinking that Scott might not be there and he would be able to get behind the counter.

"You're one in a million Jack," she laughed a bit as she bent down to lean in her car and grab her phone. She looked at the time and brought her gaze back up to the man standing right infront of her. "I could probably stay out for a bit longer. Normally Jess doesn't mind babysitting longer...money in her pocket and all so who would complain?" She didn't even know if Jack knew she had a kid, or if he'd even want to go for coffee with her after hearing that. Most guys, even if it was something as simple as a thank you for helping her, run away at the very sound of a kid. Maybe he'd think it was just for a younger sibling or something...it's not like she was trying to get romantically involved with him, so he shouldn't mind at all. He was cute and all but Kenn was definitely over the whole boy chasing phase in her life...a new friend couldn't hurt though, especially one that knew how to work under a hood.
