It had been two days since he had ended things with Rachel. He felt terrible for what he had done. He had stayed in his hotel room for the past few days getting it in his head that he couldn't see Rachel and hanging out with Ava would be slim to none. Though Ava had told him to end things he couldn't put Ava in a hard position since Rachel was her best friend. This was the first day out and Lance had taken care of himself before he left his room. He had finally shaved and taken a shower as he headed out the door. He had been driving now for an hour and couldn't believe he was heading in the direction he was heading. He decided to just pop in without calling Kennedy first but he had to see her. He needed to talk to her. He as sure she hadn't believed him that he was going to end things with Rachel but he had.
He looked at his phone and saw that it was just a blank background now. He would probably put a picture of Ryan on there once his son had gotten used to him and Kenn got used to having him around. He pulled his hat lower over his eyes because he had forgotten his sunglasses and the sun was shining directly in his eyes. He slowly pulled up in front of Kennedy's house and looked over at it. He had been so brave on his drive over here and now fear was slowly working it's way back in him. Was this the right thing? Or should I just turn my car in and come back later? He knew he had to do this. He had to show Kennedy he wanted to be there for her and Ryan. That he hadn't been bullshitting to her back at their many arguments in the hotel.
He sighed as he slowly pulled his keys out of the ignition. He stepped out with flip flops on and in torn jeans with a simple white tshirt. He pushed the brim of his hat back up so his eyes could be seen when he was talking to her. He shut his door and stretched up his arms before walking over to the front door. Time seemed to slow as he got closer to the door. He still had time to just turn around and flee but his feet just kept pulling him closer to the door. Lance sighed as he reached up and knocked on the door and then taking a step back. He placed his hands in his pockets and he looked down at the ground. He wished he had checked his appearance once more before leaving his car to see if he looked good enough to make an impression on Kennedy. He still wanted to look good for her because he knew he still had strong feelings for her even if he had been lousy at showing it. He slowly looked up as he heard the door crack open and saw her peek through, "Hey..." He said quietly with a shy smile working its way upon his lips.

Kennedy had been busy playing with Ryan in the living room stacking blocks she'd just bought a few days ago at the store when she heard someone knock at the door. Ryan had heard it too and jumped to his feet hollering "Door, door!" He ran towards the door around the corner from the living room, and Kenn chased after him laughing at how happy the boy seemed to be when getting company. "Think it's Sarah?" She asked looking down at Ryan as he bounced by the door, Sarah being the boys babysitter/nanny, but Kenn hadn't been expecting her so she couldn't see why she'd come over.
"Door!" Ryan yelped hitting the door to get her to open it but Kenn wanted to make sure it had been her first so she peaked out the window to see a car in the driveway that she hadn't recognized before. Who could be knocking at her door? She grabbed the handle that Ryan had been jumping for and slowly opened the door peaking her head from it, Ryan trying to pull it open from the bottom to get a better sight of the person on the other side. When Kenn saw who it had been her eyes had widened, what in the world was Lance doing there right now?
"Come on Ryan, step away from the door. Go get your sippy." She told the little boy but he wasn't moving, he wanted to see who the stranger was. He could get just one eye through the small crack in the door to see a man standing there, but his mother wouldn't open the door further for him. "What are you doing here? I'm a little busy." She had lied, she wasn't busy at all, but still she wasn't expecting him to just show up like he had. "Mama door!" Ryan hollered wanting her to open it more. "Not now, Ryan." Kenn said looking down at her son almost trying to nudge him away with her leg. That didn't work though, the boy only laughed and thought it'd been a game so he'd kept doing it.

Lance heard two voices inside and smiled as he could hear Ryan. He wanted to see his son for once but knew that Kennedy might not be ready for it yet. As she pulled the door open only enough for her to look through he was a little disappointed but knew he should have expected it. "Hey....sorry I just kind of stopped by..." He said struggling for words. He was having a hard time answering her question as to why he was here because he honestly wasn't sure why he was. He reached up and scratched the back of his head moving his hat around a bit before pulling it back on firmly. "I uh....I left Rachel..." He said quietly looking down at his ring finger seeing its absence wasn't as bad as he had thought it would have been. "..I mean I just thought you should know. I don't expect this to make things better again I just...I don't know..." He said nervously his eyes leaving hers to look down at his feet.
He had to make sure she would understand he didn't come to get some award for leaving Rachel he just wanted to put Kennedy at ease about not having to worry about the brunette randomly stopping by to question her. He was relieved that he was now a single man. He didn't have to worry about the temptations of being around Kennedy. He could only see her face but that was enough for him to see she was beautiful. Lance didn't care what she wore he actually liked her best when she was in sweats and no make up. He heard Ryan through the door and knew this was hard on Kennedy. She had told him she wasn't ready for Ryan to meet him and he had obviously disregarded this for his own feelings to see Kennedy.
"Maybe this was a bad idea..." He said quietly as he heard Ryan beat on the door. The little boy was obviously curious as to see who had stopped by. He could see the torn expression on her face. She might have wanted to talk to Lance but she obviously wasn't sure if Ryan should meet him just yet. He started to turn on his heel to back away but something stopped him and he turned back to face her, "Kenn you don't have to tell him who I am. I can just be a old friend even though that's a stretch cause I doubt you see me as friend but you know if that's what's bothering you I don't mind not being know as his...you know...yet." He said because he really didn't want to leave. He wanted to talk with Kennedy now that he was single and ready to start his new life of change.

When he had came right out and told her he'd left Rachel that made her ultimately happier since she had never been such a big fan of Rachel to begin with. Sure the girl had the right to be upset with her, but Kenn had moved on and had expected her too as well, but that much had obviously not happened when the two had ran into each other at the pier. It was obvious that she'd been happier since a smile started to grow on her face, and she couldn't help but wonder if she'd been partially the reason for the split. If she had that would make her even happier just to get back at Rachel for being such a bitch to her. "That's good?" She said, raising the last word up some as though it'd been a question, but ultimately she'd been making a statement and just didn't say it right, but she'd been fighting with Ryan from behind the door so she wasn't all there for the conversation.
"Not a good idea, right." She said shaking her head wanting to shut the door but the little boys fingers were there. He had came unexpected and she hadn't been ready to deal with him, so when he started to turn she opened the door just a bit more to get a better look at the man as he walked away. She was a woman and he was a gorgeous man, why wouldn't she want to look? Again, that made her somewhat happy seeing the beauty that he had been and knowing that she'd had that for herself at one time or another, but as he turned around she quickly jumped back not wanting him to see that she had been staring and watching him.
Her hands slipped from the door since she was sure she'd been caught and that made it easier for Ryan to open it all the way and jump out, black curly hair bouncing as he did a small victorious hopping dance (something he'd done before bathtime usually since he loved his baths) and looked back at his mom to laugh. "Ryan!" She yelped jumping out of the door to catch the kid that had made his way to the porch. She scooped him up in her arms knowing that obviously Lance had seen their child now and she had no reason to hide him anymore. "You know better to go outside without your socks on," She said grabbing a toe with her fingers and wiggling it making the little boy giggle. It was as though she'd been ignoring the man hoping he'd just leave, but that wasn't going to happen since he'd started speaking again.
She looked at Lance, nervousness filled her eyes but she gave him a slight nod as if silently telling him okay to stay, and looked down at the boy in her arms. "Ryan, this is one of mommy's old friends." YOUR FATHER! She wanted to shout out that his daddy had been back and she could start a somewhat better life, but that would be pointless right now since she was still afraid of his intentions. "Can you say hi?" She asked the boy as he brought his small hand up to wave at Lance saying a quick "Hu, hu!", that being his form of the word hello. "Okay scoobs, can you go get your sippy and mommy will be right in?" The boy nodded looking at the man once more before Kenn let him down and the boy ran back towards the living room. "I, uh, so, yeah?" She said as she looked at him. "Come in?"

As Lance had turned back around he had noticed Kennedy had been watching him. He felt his stomach flop and he wanted to smirk but he wasn't going let her know he had caught her as he didn't want to embarrass her even more. He quickly saw Ryan escape and was a little taken aback by how much the kid looked like him and Kennedy. Sure he had seen that picture but to see him in real life shocked him. He took a step back for a second as he watched the little boy dance victoriously. Lance shook his head getting over his initial shock and a smile appearing on his lips. He was actually glad the boy had gotten his dark hair. He looked up at Kennedy not wanting to do anything without her permission. This whole thing was up to her he wasn't going to push her.
He smiled though as the little boy waved at him. He said a quieter, "Hi," and waved back as the smile reached his eyes. It was like his whole face lit up at the sight of his son and out outgoing he was. He watched Kennedy interact with Ryan and couldn't help but smile even wider. Watching her with him made him want to be back in their lives even more. He had a secret that he hoped would come true if things with him and Kennedy got past the stage of awkwardness and them possibly having a romantic relationship later on down the road. He could see them as a family a beautiful and happy family but he knew he couldn't tell this to anyone without freaking them out. He watched his son as he ran back inside listening to his mommy. His eyes went back to Kennedy's amazing blue ones and kept his smile on his face. He felt a little bit better about the situation he was now in.
Lance nodded and followed her and lowered his voice, "Sorry again for not calling Kenn.." He said quietly passing by her and their faces passed each other a little closer than he had intended. He felt his heart get caught back up in his throat as his nose almost brushed hers. He shook off the tingly feelings and continued to walk past her because he had paused for a moment to look at her eyes a little closer. He knew she was probably still extremely uncomfortable about this whole thing but it had to start somewhere. He also was okay with only being known as a friend to Ryan because of his unexpectedness. Though he did hope he could soon be known as Ryan's father but that would take time unfortunately. He was just hoping Ryan would be accepting of him though. Kennedy had said it would be easy for Ryan to trust him because of his age but it still worried Lance. He wanted to be this good dad and he wanted his son to love him just as Lance already knew he loved his son unconditionally. It was this feeling that just overcame him when he saw his little boy and he had finally realized how stupid of a mistake he had made by removing himself from the boy's life.

When he had said sorry she let out a soft sigh, "A call would have been nice," was the only thing she could stammer from her lips as he started passed her. When he'd gotten close to her she froze and had looked at how much space she'd left him to get through the door, and she then realized his closeness had been mostly her fault for not getting out of the way. A tightness grew in her stomach as the nerves settled in, those probably wouldn't leave for a while since this had the first time in quite some time that he'd been in the same place as both her and their son. That was something she wanted to avoid as long as possible, but then again maybe seeing his son would help cement it into his head that he can't just leave her anymore. He had to be there for her and more importantly for their son so he didn't get attached any and have to watch the man disappear again.
When he was through the door Kenn let out one more heaving sigh, this was going to be harder on her than she thought, but she imagined it had to happen sometime so why not today? She knew the answer to that one, it shouldn't happen today because she had no time to prepare for anything, but even given a month to get ready for this occassion would be too soon. If he would have waited for her to take it at her pace he would have never gotten to come over and see either of them, she would have kept postponing it until it never happened, so in a way he was smart to do his own thing. She looked outside one more time before shutting the door behind her and turning around to see where Lance had gone off too. Surprisingly not very far so she slowly walked over to him and motioned him into the living room where the usual company hung out.
Ryan happened to run back around from the corner in the living room holding his blue sippy as he had it pressed against his face. His wide eyes met Lance and soon the child ran to his mother "Up! up!" He held his arms up for her to pick him up, so of course she had thought he'd probably been nervous around a male so she picked him up quickly letting him rest on her hip. "Would you like a drink?" She asked chewing her lip nervously as she started towards the living room to show him where it was, though he'd been in her house before so he probably already knew, but maybe he'd forgotten since it'd been a while? As she reached the living room she stayed close enough to where she could go get something for him to drink if he'd wanted since she had asked him, she at least could try to play good hostess today.
"Can I put you down baby?" She asked as she let him slink down to the ground still drinking his sippy. Ryan ran off back into the living room to start setting up his blocks again, Kenn standing firm looking at Lance. "We have flavored water, that's Ryans favorite thing to drink, apple juice, orange juice, milk, gatorade, and maybe a can of soda or two?" She hadn't been shopping so most of the drink selections had been those her son drank.

Lance was kind of thirsty but he wasn't going to inconvenience her he was just here to see her and his son. "I'm fine than you though." He said smiling making sure to acknowledge her kindness even if she was forcing it. He noticed how Ryan had gotten nervous around him and he knew it would happen and it was ok with him but he couldn't take his eyes off his son. Whenever he looked at him he saw himself and Kennedy. It scared him a bit at how much he resembled him. He pulled his hat off his head and smoothed down his hair as he kept his eyes on Kenn. He didn't know if he was supposed to take his shoes off and decided to leave them on because it might look like he was trying to get comfortable which he definitely wasn't. It also might have come off like he was going to stick around a long time. He would only stay as long as Kennedy wanted him to stay.
He looked at Kennedy and opened his mouth to apologize again but decided against it. He quickly shut his mouth and cleared his throat as he looked down at his feet and then back up at her eyes, "Well he definitely has your eyes." He said with a slight smile. He was actually really glad that Ryan had inherited her eyes because he thought Kennedy's eyes were amazing. He was struggling for words and soon felt his bravery fly out the window as he looked at her. She was so intimidating and he was sure she didn't even know. He was really scared of her especially when he disappointed her. This was half the reason Lance wanted to make up for all his wrong doings.
Lance followed Kennedy as she hesitantly walked towards the living room where Ryan is. Lance's bravery swelled back as he saw Ryan in the living room playing. The giant smile returned to his lips as he saw him arranging blocks. Lance stood with his hands in his pockets as he watched his son have what seemed like the time of his life. His eyes slowly moved from his son to Kennedy. Again he saw how happy she looked around their son. This made his heart swell as he had used to be able to make her smile like that. Lance had used to be one of the guys she had actually wanted to be around. He couldn't help but wonder what would have happened had Lance not gotten back together with Rachel and told Kennedy he had loved her. Lance knew he had never lost his love for Kennedy he had just tried to suppress it because he was sure the girl didn't share the same feelings. He knew now he was wrong....about trying to suppress his feelings he still wasn't sure if Kennedy had ever loved him.

When Lance had said the little boy had her eyes she couldn't help but grin as she looked down at him. "Yeah, isn't it great?" She asked still grinning as she looked back over to Lance. Her grin started to slowly fade as she looked back at her son though. "You should see his father though, almost identical to him." She had said though had never seen any baby pictures of Lance so she wasn't sure if it were true that he looked exactly like him. "Guess that's a good thing though huh? Daddy can't deny him." She said with a slight shrug as she walked into the living room to look at her son on the floor. Her eyes couldn't help but fall over everything else that had been scattered across the floor too, from blankets to other random toys of his, her house was definitely not the neatest place on the block.
"It's not normally this messy." She said as she looked quickly back at Lance as she walked to the couch and sat down. "I just didn't expect company or I would have tried to clean up." Who was she trying to kid? She would clean the house all the time and Ryan seemed to come up right behind her to mess it right back up. She could barely ever get anything done without having to re-do it in another five or ten minutes. "He's quite the little mess maker." She said looking down at her son who was busy clanking two blocks together. "I wonder who he gets that from," She said as she wondered how much of a mess maker Lance had been. Kennedy had been a pretty good messy person when she'd been pressed for time, but since Ryan she tried to clean up her act as much as she could.
"If his father could only see him now," She said glancing over at Lance for a moment. "I think he'd be proud of him, he's growing so big and he's so smart." She said as Ryan stood to walk to her sitting on the couch. He gave her a block and she held it as he went to get another one. "You're free to get comfortable," she told him not wanting to show any aggression or anything infront of her son. She didn't want him to get a sense that anything was weird about this man, babies had a weird sense that things were wrong it seemed. She hid it well that she had been nervous though, she had no idea what he had been here to talk to her about. "So what brings you here today?" She asked wanting to know what he wanted to talk about.

A lump caught in his throat as she started to talk about Ryan's daddy. Guilt crept upon him just as he had known it would have. He always underestimated things when it came to Kennedy and Ryan. He would have thought he would have been used to it by now but here he was cracking under all of this. He wanted to just swiftly leave but he knew he couldn't. He was here to stand strong and show Kennedy he wanted to be apart of his sons life and hers. So he cleared his throat yet again so his voice didn't crack when he spoke to her next whenever that may be. "Well that must be a good looking guy then." He said trying to make a joke and lighten the mood though he knew it wasn't going to happen. With Ryan around it just seemed to make things even more tense and better at the same time.
He looked around at the living room and did notice it's messiness but he didn't mind at all. Instead he liked seeing things messy it made it more homely instead of like the person was trying too hard. Sure it was nice to clean up every once in a while but there was a difference besides tidying up and cleaning for company. He shook his head, "No problem at all. I'm just an old friend no need to impress." He said with a shrug and a half smile. He really didn't want her to think she needed to impress him. He was the last person she needed to worry about. He was completely smitten about everything about her. He loved the messiness and the cleanliness of Kennedy Adams. He wished he could explain this to her in some way that wouldn't make her build up a wall to keep him out.
Lance blushed a bit at the talk of who Ryan got the messiness from, "I don't know about his father but I know as a kid I was all about messing things up." He said looking over at Kennedy for a minute before adverting his eyes from her as quickly as possible. As she made a comment about how smart and wonderful he was becoming Lance couldn't help but look at the little boy and smile at him. He slowly nodded, "Yeah," his voice cracked a bit, "...he would be proud and of you for doing such a great job on you own." He said this time not being able to look at Kennedy. He kept his eyes down on the floor fiddling with some strings on his jeans. He then placed his thumbs through the loop holes on his jeans tugging them down slightly but not really noticing since he liked to stand like this often it was now a habit. As she then told him he was free to get comfortable he wanted to laugh. Yeah right like he could get comfortable right now. Lance thought about sitting over by Kennedy but he thought against it. He then went over to one of her empty arm chairs across from where she was and he slowly eased himself down and took a seat.

She hadn't been looking at him as she had been caught up in what her son was doing, this had been the third block he had given her and she was going to have a hard time holding anymore, so when he had said the comment about how good looking the man must've been Kenn just let her next sentence slip from her mouth. "He was downright gorgeous." That wasn't a lie, Kennedy had always found Lance very attractive but that much was obvious from their fling. She wouldn't have just let something happen with just anyone, Lance was special to her, and he had to have known that much. "Still is too from what i've seen," She mumbled very quietly not wanting him to hear that, but still she couldn't believe she'd let those words slip from her mouth.
"Well what else was I supposed to do?" She asked cautiously looking over at him at his comment about doing it all on her own. "It's not like the father didn't have an opportunity to stick around. He just had better things to do I suppose." She could hear the sense of anger strike her voice and had to calm down for her childs sake. She took a deep breathe as she closed her eyes for a moment letting the anger leave her body, she didn't want Ryan to get upset since he had no reason to be. "I was never alone though." She said looking up at him with a satisfactory look on her face. "I had his aunt and his babysitter around to help me." It had sucked that she hadn't had him around, but she managed for long enough and could continue to do so.
She let out a sigh as she watched him take the chair and sit down, and she went and relaxed back into the couch looking anywhere but at him. "You still haven't answered my question." She said referring to a question she'd asked him not too long ago. "What brings you here today? What is it we have to talk about?" Ryan brought two more blocks over and Kenn bent down to put the others she had in her hand on the floor. The small boy started stacking them one ontop of another as he sat between Kenn's legs on the floor. "There has to be a main reason you're here, I doubt you'd drive all the way over just to shoot the breeze." She said almost certain that couldn't be the case.

Lance felt his face turn red as she commented on how cute he was. This was something he never thought he would hear from her but lately she was just full of surprises. He shifted his weight in the chair leaning against the armchair. He was trying to calm himself down and get comfortable but the tension in the air was driving him crazy. He stopped fiddling his thumbs even though his face was still red and looked over at his son. He couldn't help but smile and try to get the blush to go away but it wasn't. He finally raised his eyes to look at Kennedy as she spoke. More guilt waved over him as he again shifted in the seat. "I think the guy was definitely a pr...a uh meanie?.." He said before he said something bad he had to stop himself because of Ryan in the room. He would definitely have to get better at that. He was used to being able to cuss a few times but now he had his son to worry about so he would have to watch what he said.
Lance held back a laugh at what he had just said. His blush finally crept back down his neck and he rubbed his eyes as he let out a big sigh. "Though I would think that the guy would definitely be intimidated by an amazing woman." He said seriously as he looked directly into her eyes. He definitely admired Kennedy for what she had done. He would never deny this she had stayed strong for her son and Lance had just run off with Rachel not even thinking about the consequences. "Because you definitely are amazing..." He said quietly looking down at his feet as he shifted yet again. He saw that she was proud of doing it all on her own and he knew she deserved to feel that pride. She had pulled off what many people couldn't. "Though I hope an amazing woman would definitely not mind help from an old friend." He said quietly looking up at her in a questioning way.
Lance shrugged, "Can't a friend just want to catch up? Or see another old friend?" Lance didn't really have a specific reason for coming around. He had really just wanted to see Kennedy but he wasn't sure if he could just come out and see that. He also wanted to see his son. He had been dying to see his son ever since Kennedy had showed him the picture of the young boy on her phone. He had been shocked how much alike they looked. He would definitely have to show Kennedy one of his old baby pictures because aside from the blue eyes and a few other things he looked exactly like Ryan did. Lance wiped his palms on his shorts as he slowly stood up. He didn't like the distance between him and Kennedy. So he finally got up the nerves and moved to sit on the cushion besides Kennedy. He turned to look at her as he draped his arm over the back of the couch. He still kept his distance but it felt better to close the range between them.

Kennedy wanted to grin after she had heard him say that she was amazing, but she knew that probably wasn't such a smart idea since she didn't want him to think she appreciated his words, but in all reality what girl wouldn't appreciate an attractive man telling them they were amazing? She just looked at him quickly flashing him a small smile, something to thank him for the compliment, but she stayed silent for a moment bringing her attention back down to her son. Having Lance in the same room with her made her feel uncomfortable since the three of them (Lance, Ryan, and her) hadn't been in the same room together for quite some time, but still it almost made her feel good knowing that this was the family she had wanted but knew she couldn't have. At least the picture of the three together could stay tattooed in her mind for times when she felt alone and wanted that manly figure by her side.
When he had used that 'friends' word silently asking if she'd needed his help she wanted to cringe. She had called him her friend first, that much she knew to be true, but still hearing it from his lips made it feel somewhat dirty. The two had been friends back in high school but it didn't just stop right there, something more happened and they turned to lovers lusting for each others entire being, and after everything that had happened she just didn't know if they could even consider themselves back to just friends. "True friends would have stuck around." She said simply shaking her head as she looked from him yet again. True friends would have been there for his birth. True friends wouldn't have left me when I needed them. She had so many things she wanted to say to him, but didn't want Ryan to pick up on anything since for a small toddler he was still pretty bright.
Friend was a word he seemed to use often, there he had just thrown it out two more times for her and again she wanted to cringe not knowing if that had been the best word to describe the two of them. When she saw him stand up she took that as a sign that he wanted to leave, that the comfort level had gotten to him and he was going to bail out, but he didn't head for the door but closer to sit on the cushion beside her. She felt a lump start to grow in her throat as her body seemed to freeze there, her staring at his knee that had come somewhat close to her as he sat down, but he managed to pull it back out of her comfort zone luckily as she brought her attention up to his eyes. "Um, yeah they can, but I just thought." She shook her head with a shrug not knowing what to say, or even what to think right now. "I don't know, sure you don't want something to drink?" She asked getting nervous again, but still liking the feeling of having him close to her.

Lance nodded he agreed with her. He wanted to say a few more things on the true friends but he didn't want to cause a scene in front of their kid. "That may be true but some friends aren't the best. They tend to be selfish and don't grow up when they need to." He said quietly looking over at her as she was so close to him now. He knew he had been selfish in the past. Lance had still been looking out for number one and at the time it had been himself but he knew it needed to switch to Ryan and Kennedy. Those were his number ones now. Lance hadn't remembered when it had happened but when he had woken up one day he had realized what he had been done was wrong. He wasn't happy and he had been going about his life the wrong way. He had been still acting like he was in high school with no responsibilities except to keep himself happy.
Lance couldn't keep his eyes off of Kennedy now. He was mesmerized by her mother abilities and her looks as usual. He had always been entranced by how gorgeous she was. Lance figured she would like to get away from him at this point so he decided to take up on her offer, "Uh yeah on second thought I think i'll just take some water from the sink if that's cool." He said looking at her curiously. He figured she wanted to get out of this room. He didn't blame her maybe he could take a few breaths and become more comfortable with the situation without the constant bashing. Though he realized what he had done by taking her up on her offer. It would be just him and Ryan in the room unless the little boy decided to follow his mother which he was kind of hoping for. He didn't know how to react with Ryan. He wasn't sure what to do and he was even intimidated by the little toddler because if things didn't go well he was for sure not to be able to get into Kennedy's life. He sighed as he finally took his eyes off of Kennedy and down to his hands.

She just let the first comment pass knowing he had been talking about himself, and that she was just going to agree so figured it'd be best to just stay quiet. When he had said he'd wanted some water from the sink she cocked a quick eyebrow before nodding and standing up. "Um, okay, so i'll just go and get that." She said as she started to walk away ruffling her boys hair as she passed him, and he soon stood up to run out of the room infront of her. "Um, make yourself comfortable?" She said as she walked out of the room though he'd already been comfortable it looked like.
She brought herself to the kitchen and grabbed a plastic cup from the cupboard, glass was pretty rare to find around her house, and she walked over to the fridge. After she had opened it up she pulled the brita water out and poured the chilled water into the glass. She loved her brita system, it had paid for itself after the first three or four pitchers, and the filters hadn't cost that much money for when she needed to change them. She put the brita pitcher back into the fridge and shut the door behind her looking around to see where Ryan had ran off too. She could hear him running back through his blocks in the living room so she figured he had turned around and went back to play, so she let out a sigh letting her arms rest on the counter for a minute taking a heavy breathe wanting to feel more comfortable walking back into that living room.
She could hear the clinking of his toys in the living room so knew she should go in there to spare Lance from having to be alone with him for too long, so she grabbed the cup and headed back into the living room with the two of them. "Sorry, here." She said as Ryan laughed running to his mother grabbing ahold of her legs sending her a few steps back. Unfortunately she hadn't the best balance since her nerves had been getting the best of her and the cup that had been in her hand and knocked out of her hand and fell right onto the carpeted floor. "Ryan!" Kenn spoke loudly as the small boy started to cry because he'd done something wrong, so she quickly picked him up moving quickly back to the kitchen to grab a towel or something to clean the water up with. "Thank god it's not juice like before." She said as she remembered having to move the couch to cover such a stain the boy had caused months ago that just didn't want to come out.

Lance sat in the room he gave a sigh of relief as he saw Ryan get up and run after Kennedy. Though he sucked it back in when he saw the little boy run back to get to his blocks. He sat there quietly not wanting to disturb the child. He was hoping if he was quiet Ryan would just go about his business playing. He heard the fridge open and close in the kitchen. Lance leaned back against the couch and pressed the heel of his palms against his eyes. Why was he still here? He really couldn't answer that question. He just wanted to be around Kennedy and his son but why now when he could even tell Kennedy didn't really want him around. He didn't know why he was pressing her buttons. Though he had ended things with Rachel even though Kennedy had accused him of lying when he had said he was going to do it. Lance just had to let Kennedy know she had been wrong and that he had changed and he did want to make a difference and hopefully build a family.
He sat back up as he heard footsteps enter the room. His eyes lifted to see Kennedy and a smile appeared on his lips. It was like no matter how awkward the situation whenever he saw her his heart swelled. He saw Ryan get up and run towards her and his smile grew a bit more. Though his smile quickly slipped off his lips as he saw her wobble when he ran into her legs. Lance stood up quickly when it had looked like she was going to fall. Oh god not again. He thought of the fall she had taken the last time they had run into each other. Though luckily she had caught herself and just dropped the glass. Lance winced even for the little boy as Kennedy rose her voice. As she picked him up and moved toward the kitchen Lance stopped her, "Hang on Kenn." He said normally as he moved past her to the kitchen. He grabbed the paper towels he found by the sink and headed back out.
He didn't want her to have to do everything even if it was her house. He felt bad for not doing anything and watching her have to comfort Ryan and pick up the glass and spilt water. "You have to remember i'm here to help." He said smiling at her as he knelt down and started to clean up the mess and pick up the glass that was meant for him. When he finished he stood back up and with everything in his hands and went back into the kitchen and threw things away and placing the glass in the sink. He hadn't really been that thirsty so he really didn't feel like filling it back up. He knew his way around the house and it was probably weird that he did but he hadn't forgotten a thing. He walked back out to see Kennedy with Ryan in her arms. He couldn't help but let the smile return to his lips as he looked at the two. "You okay?" He asked concerned to Kennedy as he walked closer to her.
