The doctor's had had him in the OR for quiet some time. They had found many things wrong with him. They had found a bruise on his skull and listed it as traumatic brain injury. They hoped for it to be a temporary impairment and it seemed like that was likely. He also had a few broken rips which luckily hadn't punctured a lung because then things could have become messy quick. His neck had also undergone some serious stress and would be watched carefully and placed in a brace while he was staying in the hospital. They rolled him out into his very own room he was still unconscious and resting after the very traumatic incident. His phone had somehow reached him undamaged. It was placed on his bed side with a red light beeping up in the corner from a missed call/message/voice mail. The nurses got him all set up and would be checking in on him periodically until he was awake.
The doctor wasn't sure how long it would take for him to wake up so he himself would even be on a routine check up. He was allowed only certain visitor's, family and special circumstances. It was unlikely that Aiden would have heard of the accident considering there was a game on tonight and no doubt him and Stephanie Davis would be holed up in his apartment eyes glued to the screen. Lance had slowly been talking to his brother more but they hadn't really hung out in a while and he doubted it would happen anytime soon. Lance had too much going on in his life and this accident tonight was only gonna make it all much worse. The doctor's had pumped his stomach from the alcohol poison he had undergone as well and his throat was due to be very sore and in need of water.
It had been not too long since he had gotten out that there was a visitor waiting for him. The doctor's tried to calm the frantic person tried to tell them that he wasn't awake. Lance lied in bed with a brace around his neck a few sutures above his brow and his lip cut open that was healing. He also had his chest wrapped up and kept safe as the ribs were broken. Luckily his legs had only come away bruised it was actually a miracle that they hadn't been broken or messed up to where he had been paralyzed the rest of his life or even temporarily. All in all Lance was lucky that he had only come away with a few broken things the only bad thing was the brain injury though it didn't look to be a serious case this time around. The visitor was finally let in after listening to what the doctor's had to say considering they were the first person to come and claim to know the poor man lying in the hospital bed.

The drive to the hospital was one huge blur and Emma couldn't think straight the whole time. In fact, she almost forgot the way to the hospital, she was so distracted! Why would he have driven drunk? He was smarter than that, at least Emma had thought so. Maybe she didn't know him that well after all, though. She drove around the crowded parking lot, cursing to herself as she did so, trying to find a spot. She didn't have time for this. He could have been dying and he would have been alone. She hated Kennedy for having hurt him this much... whatever the reason.
She turned into a vacant spot at the back, almost hitting a mini van parked across the way in her panic, before turning off the car and running inside. She even forgot to lock her car, but at this point nothing mattered. She went through the emergency doors and over to a triage desk where the man behind seemed to be busy with paperwork. "Excuse me, my friend..my boyfriend was brought it about half an hour ago. Car accident." she explained, but the man didn't acknowledge her. She sighed, but that didn't stop her. She went around the desk and started going through the admittance forms until she found, with much effort, what she was looking for.
Not bothering to say thank you, she quickly made her way up to the surgical floor and was told that she would need to wait. Wait. Emma knew this waiting room all too well. It was where her and Lance had begun and now would possibly be there end if he was to die. No. She couldn't think like that. He would be fine.
Time went slowly, but soon the doctor emerged from the OR and the news was great, well despite what could have happened. She listened to the doctor then was told she could go in. She didn't even notice the tears that had flooded her eyes as she nodded. "Thank you so much." she told the doctor before taking a deep breath and heading inside the room that her boyfriend lay in.
"Hey you.." She said, trying to be okay with seeing him like this, though she found herself breaking inside. "So that was one long bathroom break.." she added, lightly.

Lance's eyes slowly blinked open as he heard Emma's voice. Emma. He felt like a dick for completely forgetting about her. He hadn't taken any consideration on her part and just left. He looked at her now and saw her eyes were red she had obviously been crying. Now he felt even worse as he lay there. So many emotions were running through him again he just wanted to feel nothing. He couldn't take just laying there to deal with this but he didn't really have an option. He was none the less glad to see Emma. He may have been in love with Kennedy but he did have feelings for Emma. He hoped they could be friends if he was to end it later down the road. This girl was one spectacular person and he admired her so much. He knew this was what had attracted him in the first place.
A smile formed on his lips as he looked at her. He slowly reached out his hand in a gesture to grab hers. "Hey," his voice was weak and horse from the stomach pump. He started to laugh but began coughing almost immediately after wards. He cleared his throat though it hurt like a bitch, "You're tellin' me. I'm really sorry for just leaving by the way." He said sorrow and guilt instantly showed up on his face. He still couldn't believe how selfish and stupid he could be at times. His arms were about all he could muster to move as he laid there. He wanted to lift himself up but wasn't sure of the condition that his neck was in. The accident was all a blur and he didn't exactly remember what he had been going on before it.
It's like his brain just stopped when he tried to think of what he had done after drinking wayyyy too much. "I feel like an idiot," he said quietly looking down into his lap. He knew he had better judgment than that. He knew if he had run into Emma before he had started driving everything probably would have turned out all right. Though instead he had to drink like a fool and think, 'hey let's drive while I can barely function!' He felt ashamed of himself too though because he had seen his brother go through drinking problems and it only reminded him of their father and he vowed to never do something that stupid yet here he was in the hospital. He felt like a hypocrite and knew now that he hoped Aiden didn't find about it. His brother might not give him shit for it but he would feel incredibly embarrassed none the less.

Seeing his condition made the whole thing seem so real. Hearing the guy at the party and then the radio and everything up until this very moment had seemed like a bad dream, but yet here he was. She knew she should have been thankful he was alive, but all she could feel was confusion. They'd been having a good night, right? Was it something she'd done...or said? No, that didn't make sense. Not when he'd said it back. Well, almost but it was practically the same thing...
She smiled, trying not to think about it and moved over to his bed, sitting down as he took her hand. He was 'sorry for leaving'? Emma couldn't help but feel that his apology was empty; wasn't enough. "It's not a big deal." she lied, faking another smile as she looked at him. "I'm just glad you're okay.." she looked him in the eyes, then looked from him to the window and sighed as he spoke again about feeling like an idiot. She wanted to agree with him, but restrained herself.
"It's me, isn't it?" she said, turning back to him, tears filling her eyes again in desperation. "I mean, what else could it be? I pushed too hard and then..." Her voice got lost as her thoughts wandered. It had to be her fault. What else could it have been? This was all because she'd said it. Maybe he felt like he needed to say it back and ended up regretting it, so he'd gotten miserable and drank... Okay, so Emma was probably overreacting, but she didn't know any better. She brushed her hair from her face and shrugged, unsure of what else to say.

As the warmth of her hand fell into his his smile widened a bit. "No Emma it is a big deal. I was a jerk for running off like that. You don't deserve that." He said quietly as he kissed the back of the hand he had been holding. He watched her with careful eyes wanting to make sure he caught every little thing she did. He wanted to make sure she was being truthful with him. When she mentioned him being okay he laughed softly, "I honestly can't believe i'm okay. Though I don't really remember most of it." He said as he was still trying to struggle with the memory. He really wanted to know what had gone on and what the hell had hit him. He had been told it had been a semi but he couldn't believe that he was still alive if he had run into a semi.
When she broke down right in front of him he squeezed his eyes shut, "No Em it's not you." He began to rub his thumb on the back of her hand. "My stupidity was of my own and had nothing to do with you I promise. You were the one that made my night trust me." He said quietly having a hard time with long sentences because of his throat constantly running dry. As he saw one tear fall from her eye he reached over to the best of his ability and wiped it off with his thumb.
"It just scares me that I would go and do something like that. My father was an alcoholic so my brother and I swore we'd never do something stupid like I just did. I just...can't...believe it." He got quieter and quieter as he choked up a bit there. He was being reminded of his father way too much lately and he really couldn't take it. Thankfully the abusive bastard didn't try and contact him anymore. He hated ignoring the man because it was his father but he just remembered some of the things he had done to him and his brother and that always seemed to renew his strength.

Unsure of what to say, Emma just nodded as he said that it really was a big deal. He was right after all and his actions had hurt, but somehow now none of that seemed to matter. All that mattered to her was that he was okay; physically and mentally and judging by his actions that night the “mentally” was in question. “I’m really glad you’re okay.” She admitted to him, biting her lip at the thought of him dying, which was something she knew he’d come very close to doing.
When he said that it had nothing to do with her, she got even more confused. “Then what?” she pleaded with him. She could see he was in pain and didn’t want to hurt him more by speaking, but the girl was desperate for answers. And who could blame her when she’d just discovered that her boyfriend had gotten drunk and gotten into a car accident after what had seemed to be a great night so far. Then there was the fact that she heard he’d left after talking to Kennedy and was wondering what that was about. Had he lied to her and left to go talk to Kennedy, not go to the washroom? She was curious, but didn’t want to ask. If he cared about her he’d be honest with her and if there was something she needed to be worried about she trusted him enough to tell her.
Hearing him talk about his father was something new for their relationship and she listened to every word he spoke, having never known about this hidden side to his life. To her, he’d always just been the friendly jock. Well, if she was to use a stereotype, but then he was more than that even back then to her. He had been a good friend, a great friend, but even still his home life had been a mystery. “You made a mistake Lance… People make mistakes..” she said, clearly believing that if he regretted it this much, he wouldn’t do it again. “Aiden will understand. What’s important is that you’re still alive.”

Lance really felt like an asshole in this situation. He could see how much Emma truly cared for him and it was making him feel any worse. Why couldn't he just move on and get past Kennedy? The girl had even admitted after tonight it was over. Any chance of them rekindling what they had shared was crushed by those words. So why couldn't he just let it go and move on and have his chance at happiness and a great relationship with Emma? He cursed himself for always wanting what he couldn't have when something great was staring him right in the face. The worst part was that he recognized that there was something amazing right there he just chose to ignore it and pursue what he couldn't obtain.
Lance sighed as he shut his eyes and reopened them to look over at her. He couldn't lie to her any longer he had to let her know what had driven him to do what he had done. "Well when I left you to go to the bathroom I found Kennedy outside. She didn't look like she was in the best of moods so I tried to see if I could help her out. That was my first mistake. We got into an argument about the past and everything we could think of as always. Anyways our arguments always seem to get to me because I feel like i'm the one to blame for making her life complicated and so much harder than it should be." He said softly his voice incredibly hoarse, "I don't know what I was thinking I just kept drinking and after that I don't really remember much." He said furrowing his brow as he tried to remember more for her sake and his own but nothing came to him.
This was exactly what he needed. To have someone there to tell him everything was gonna be okay even if he knew it wouldn't be. He had given into a temptation he had swore he never would. As she spoke his brother's name he nodded slowly. He wasn't going to worry about Aiden right now. He had too much going on in his personal life to worry about his brother's judgment. It wasn't like the two ever talked and even so Aiden had broken their vow long before Lance had gotten the chance to even think about it. "I know but I shouldn't have. I should have just gone back inside to you. I don't know what I had even been thinking!" He was beginning to get angry with himself but he stopped talking as his throat stung and pleaded for him to stop talking. He let out a deep breath and looked over at her as he was at a loss for words now. He figured though he had probably said enough and stayed quiet for now.

To say the least Kennedy had been exhausted after the nights events. She could not believe Lance had come over and started to talk to her, and even worse she let her anger get the best of her as the two had it out for the millionth time it seemed. The entire ride home in the cab she had time to think about their past together, and how everything had seemed to end up in some sort of arguement with them. Even when the two seemed incredibly happy one small spark would ignore a fire in both of them leaving words of harsh reality lingering in the air. "Thanks for the ride," Kennedy said as he pulled into her driveway and she stepped out of the cab, at least one thing had gone right for her tonight and she didn't have to pay for the ride home.
When she went into the house the first thing that greeted her had been a picture of her son Ryan sitting on the counter where she would normally throw her keys. She let out a sigh as she picked the picture up and looked at her smiling boy, though when she blinked she could only see him growing older to look just like his father. She let out a groan and put the picture back on the counter, getting over Lance would be harder than she thought. She figured what she needed right now was something to eat, her stomach was in knots so she grabbed herself a granola bar and went to turn the television on to relax herself. Since it had been so late and she was stuck with nothing more than digital channels it seemed on every channel was nothing but the news. She didn't mind though, she would get to hear what the weather was going to be like for the next day and she could plan accordingly, maybe her son and her would go to the park or something.
She opened the bar and sat on the couch as she started to listen to the top stories from the county, but she had never expected to hear about the breaking news that was flashing across her screen before the reporter started to explain. She listened as the woman spoke about a car accident, after it had collided with a semi, and how it had been on one of the back access roads less traveled in the city. She didn't think anything of it until they said that the only driver with injuries had been Lance Wright, and he was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Kennedy's jaw dropped as she shook her head, no this could not be right at all. She had seen him not too long ago and he had been fine, more than fine considering he said he was happy, so how had it changed so much? Had Emma been in the car with him? She jumped from the couch and ran up the stairs to change out of her outfit, and soon she found herself standing in the bathroom scrubbing off the make-up that had been running from her tears. She pulled her hair back some and settled on a comfortable capri/shirt combination, the same things she would usually sleep in because the fabric was nice and soft, and just like that she raced down the stairs, threw on some sandals, and ran out the door grabbing her keys.
The entire time to the hospital she wasn't sure why she was coming here, she had said that it had been over and he probably did not even want to see her face right now. She was probably the reason behind the accident anyway, she had been such a bitch and something had happened. She reached in her pocket for her phone and was about to call her aunt when she saw that she had a new message, and that it had been from Lance. She listened carefully, the slurring of words a good indication that the man had been shit-faced, and that is when the message was cut short and she just sighed, another tear rolling down her cheek as she heard everything that he had said. What was she going to say to him when she got in to see him? She had no idea, not even at the time she was pulling into the hospital parking lot and finding the easiest spot to pull into , and with that she pushed out of her car and ran towards the doors. When she got through she went to the welcome desk and explained who she had been here to see, and they nodded giving her the direction on where he would be.
She raced up the stairs to where the rooms were and slowed down when she was reaching the area they said he would be in for recovery. She stopped at a nurses station and waited for someone to come, and again she explained that she had been here to see him. "Sure, I can take you to him. He has one guest right now, his girlfriend was the first to arrive." The nurse said, a cheerful manner as Kennedy stopped walking behind her. "I should probably let them have some time or something, i'm going to go get something to drink before I go in there." She told the nurse, the other woman having a puzzled look on her face but nodding. "When you're ready he's the last door on the left." The woman said and vanished into another patients room. "Emma is here, maybe this isn't such a good idea. Maybe you should just go home, Kenn." She whispered to herself as she turned the corner and found a small waiting room. She took a seat in the corner and pulled her feet up on the seat before her and reached her hands around to link her fingers together. She let her head rest against her knees and closed her eyes, should she stay and face the music or just leave? He probably already hated her so what was the point, she had some sorting out to do before she made any sort of move.

Kennedy.. As soon as she heard him say the name, Emma felt her heart breaking and a tinge of anger rise from the pit of her stomach. So it was Kennedy's fault that this had happened...that he'd gotten upset and driven drunk. She didn't know what to say to him. She especially didn't want to say something she'd regret. She didn't like talking about Kennedy with him. In many ways, she was jealous of the pretty, former head-cheerleader. She was also jealous of the fact that when Lance talked about her, his eyes came alive as if he was speaking from his heart. He may have cared for Emma, but she wondered if she'd always be his second best. Could she do that?
"Look, it's over, okay?" Emma assured him, doing the best she could. "It's in the past..." She laughed a little. "If I lived on everything I could have or would have done differently than.... I'd probably be utterly miserable because I like to think that things happen for a reason...I mean, take Keagan, He's the best thing in my life and if I had never been with Landon I wouldn't have him. No regrets, okay? Just..moving forward. Me and you."
She held his hand gently and smiled down at him laying on the bed as she sat beside him. He was alive. That was what mattered. They could figure out the rest later.

Kennedy kept stirring in the chair knowing that she should not just be sitting here, she should get up and walk into that room and be mature for once, so with further hesitation she did lift herself off of the small waiting room chair and started to walk towards where the nurse had directed her. Her thoughts the entire time she was walking was that this had not been a good idea, she knew this had not been a good idea, and that she should probably just go home and forget about tonight all together. He had been in the hospital because of her that night so could she honestly look him in the face without the guilt tearing her apart inside? Now had been the moment of truth, she stepped next to the open door and took a deep breathe getting the courage to take that next step into the room.
She could hear him and Emma talking, the last five words about moving forward, her and him, had set a fire in Kennedy's stomach but she took another deep breathe to clear her mind. She was about to turn around when she saw a nurse walking near. She mentioned to Kennedy something about needing signatures for paperwork, Kennedy letting the nurse know that his family hadn't been entirely around and she had no idea where his brother was, so when asked Kenn just shrugged as the nurse asked about Emma. Kennedy explained unfortunately about how she had been his girlfriend, so the nurse asked Kennedy if she could have Emma come out to the desk to fill some papers out. Kennedy was about to say something about having to leave but instead just nodded, it was the least she could do and Emma had been the closest thing to family he had with him tonight.
She took one more deep breathe and slowly spun herself around as her knuckles came up to the doorframe and she tapped them on the wood a few times to get the attention of both Lance and Emma. "The nurse asked me to tell you that there are some forms that need to be signed, something about meds or something, and since you're the girlfriend you're closest to family so they would like you to be the one to sign. She said just to meet her at the desk," She took a step to the side of the room avoiding looking at Lance for a moment, she couldn't bare too knowing that all the pain he had been in was because of her.
She did happen to force a small sliver of a smile, somewhat of an apology since she was sure Emma had known what had happened, and she held her head down leaning on the back wall as she waited for the woman to leave the room and sign the papers. From there she knew she wouldn't have much time alone with him, Emma would probably want to come back as soon as she could so the two weren't alone, but considering Kenn had nothing really to say to him she figured that might just be a blessing.

Lance had a hard time getting the lump down that had grown in his throat as Emma continued to talk about them. He felt so guilty that he was having these feelings for Kennedy. He just couldn't find a way to get over that woman. He may have had those good times with Emma but he always had Kennedy in the back of his mind. Why had he fucked up something that had been so good? Sure it wasn't right that much was understood but that time with Kennedy when they were actually happy being around each other was the happiest he had ever been. He wished he could tell Kennedy that. That he felt like she was his everything, but obviously he wasn't showing it by having Emma around. He wasn't sure what he was going to do he always had to go and make things complicated. Nothing ever came easy for him and it was always because of him that it was that way.
Lance opened his mouth to say something but fell into silence as he heard a knock at the door. Thank god.... were his only thoughts as his eyes wandered from Emma over to the source of the noise. As the door opened and Kennedy appeared his heart stopped for a moment. He looked away to avoid staring and causing alarm to rise in Emma. He looked down at his bandages poking and prodding feeling the pain flare up as he did. He silently let his arms rest at his sides as he listened to Kennedy speak. Why was she here? This just sent more confusing feelings flow through his body. Good lord he didn't know what to say or think at the moment. He heard Emma get up and walk out.
Lance didn't know what to do. He wondered if Kennedy was gonna leave or what. He kept his eyes planted on his sheets his thoughts racing as he tried to piece some together. He slowly looked over at her to find her gaze not on his, "You can come in if you want," his voice hushed and weak. His throat hurt pretty bad so he kept his sentences as short as possible. His eyes wandered her for a moment taking in every bit of her before finally tearing his gaze from her. He couldn't get over that she was actually here right now. What did that mean? Did she actually care about him or was it just the "right" thing to do? All these questions were driving him crazy and he wanted to just blurt them out but he knew that wouldn't go over well. He kept to himself when around her until their fights started and then everything just spilled out. He was tired of the fighting though. He wanted to be done with it.

Kennedy kept her gaze at the ground as she watched Emma's feet move past her and out the door. She heard Lance say something and quickly looked up just for a moment at him, the bandages and wounds being too much so she had to look back away. "I think right here is good enough." She said taking one step further from the door but staying right up against the wall. She wanted to lay right into him and holler at him for being stupid enough to drink and drive, for getting so worked up about her stupid words, but instead she found it funny how she just stayed silent for a moment, something that she never seemed to do while around him. She knew that fighting with him had never been a good answer but at the same time she knew that if she pissed him off enough he'd move on, and then she would not have that emotional rollercoaster ride in her life anymore. The sad thing was she was the one with the most emotions, she was either really happy with him or pissed as she could be, so if anything she just could not understand why he hadn't just written her out of his life entirely yet.
Then an image of Ryan flashed in her mind and she knew exactly why he had kept trying to mend the bridges between the two of them. He wanted to be there for their son and yet she just wasn't letting him by being a complete bitch. She had good reasons behind it though, she got so sick and tired of everyone considering her to be nothing more than a whore while he was practically praised for what the two had done. It just wasn't right, she could feel anger boiling inside of her but she kept her cool. She was not going to fight and bitch at him, Emma would walk back in the room and she just did not want the other chick to witness one of their many arguements.
"I was out in the waiting room for a while, heard that you had company and didn't want to barge in. Didn't want to come in at all actually after what I had said to you at the party, i'm the last person you want to see here i'm sure. I heard about the accident on the news, it's not everyday a big recording star gets drunk and slaps into a semi. You seriously didn't think you were going to win that one did you?" Okay so he had not been a huge recording star yet, he had been in the studio and was working on his music but she wasn't sure if he had done any shows yet, but she had to keep things light and this was the only way she knew how. The joke about his smaller vehicle against the big ass semi, yeah that had been mostly for her to calm her nerves considering she was pretty sure he wouldn't get a kick out of her picking on what had happened. She did not do it to be mean though. "I'm glad Emma wasn't in the car, I have to admit I was worried. For the both of you, not that you even believe me or not. I'm not that cruel though, especially when everything was practically my fault."

Lance shrugged his shoulders as she mentioned staying there was good enough for her, "Whatever floats your boat." The words cracking every now and then. He shut his eyes as he managed to swallow his throat as dry as can be. He coughed a few times forcing down another swallow. He leaned his head back against the wall slowly opening his eyes again. He forced himself to look over at her and felt his heart stop yet again. If only he could control his feelings he would just get over her. It was obvious she didn't want to be with him now or ever. So why did he keep trying? He knew exactly why. He was still in love with her. Always had been and he wanted to make things good for his son too. He wanted him to grow up with two loving parents not ones that hated each other and were at each others throats all the time. He had to grow up with that and was not letting his son go through that.
As she began to explain herself he listened as intently as possible without worrying about the pain he was going through. "You were just telling me how you felt right? It's over yeah? That's how you feel," he said quietly though it pained him to say every word because he wished she didn't feel that way. Though it was a lie that she was the last person he wanted to see. She was the last person he expected to see but he did like to see her. No matter how bad things got he always wanted to be around her. He couldn't believe he had let himself get this crazy about a girl who didn't even feel the same towards him anymore.
"You know me I always believe I can win," he joked as he rolled his eyes at the lameness of it. Lance may have thought of himself as invincible but he wasn't stupid so he kept the joke going just to keep the conversation from going sour. "I'm glad too it's alright if it's just me but if I had endangered another person I would never be able to forgive myself," his gaze lowering to his hands as he fidgeted around. Her worried? Yeah right she didn't even care about him why worry? He wouldn't say anything though," It wasn't your fault i'm the only person to blame." He wasn't saying much but that's because he didn't want to say the wrong thing. He always had to be careful with his words around Kennedy. A fight was the last thing they needed after the explosive one before.

Kennedy listened to him start to cough and looked up from her spot across the room at him. She scanned around and found a small plastic cup of water on the stand beside him, and even though she knew she shouldn't she pulled herself off of the wall and managed to walk slowly and carefully over towards him. She could hear what he was saying about how she had felt, she expressed that good enough at the party, so instead of saying anything she just blocked the words and reached for the cup that had been on the stand beside the bed. "Normally these things come with a straw, where's the damn straw?" The nerves were apparant in her voice as she looked around but could not find one. "Here, you should drink something, it will help loosen the throat and stop it from hurting so much." She knew a small cup of water was not going to make the pain go away, but it had been the only thing she could personally do for him. She wasn't sure if he could raise his arms to tilt the cup himself or if she needed to so she stood there, hand extended waiting for him to tell her what to do.
"I also know that you might have had a good record on the court in your jersey, but outside of school your winning streaks were few and far between." That was a flat out lie. The man had everything, he had a gorgeous girlfriend back in the day and had even gotten to sneak around and cheat with Kennedy, and now he's got the music thing going for him another another girlfriend. It seemed this man could win no matter what he did in life, again that just upset Kenn considering she seemed to fail at just about everything these days. "It is never alright. You know better then to drink and drive Lance, I know you are better then that. You seriously change that much since high school?" Her and him had not spent a whole hell of a lot of time together since graduating and him running off to New York, so she was sure he could have changed somewhat, but she just could never have seen him do such a stupid move like that. "Next time you even think about doing something like that just don't. You have people that depend on you and care about you, don't put them through this." Yes she was talking about herself partially along with Ryan and whether she wanted to admit it or not Emma. She knew Emma cared about him even though it pained her inside knowing that he was with another woman, just one of those fun jealousy kicks she has.
She wanted to agree when he had said it had been all his fault, if he put the blame on himself why would she want to argue that? Well, she knew he had been wrong and was just trying to make her feel better, or so she thought, so of course she was not going to listen to the garbage. She had been the one to blame, it had been all her. "Before you talked to me you were all smiles and having a hell of a good time. After talking to me you're drinking and wrecking, how is that entirely your fault? Why didn't Emma stop you?" Her blood started to boil with a jealous rage as she thought of the girlfriend, she should have stopped him before this had happened and Kennedy wouldn't be here right now. What the hell had Emma been doing that was more important then keeping Lance safe while at the party? Kennedy took a step back from him towards the wall not wanting Emma to see her close to him if she just so happened to come back into the room.

Lance stopped breathing for a few minutes as she stepped closer to him. He shut his eyes for a moment before opening them to see her looking for the straw. He honestly had no idea and hadn't even had anything to drink since he had woken up. He had been talking to Emma trying to console her because he didn't think she should feel bad for him. He was the one that made the stupid mistake not her. He was tired of all this sympathy but knew it was gonna come regardless. As she stood there holding out the glass he mustered up the strength to lift his arms and grab the glass. "Thanks," he said quietly looking into her eyes for the first time since the accident. He quickly broke the contact and took a sip of water. He coughed at first feeling it glide down his throat irritating it slightly. He then took one more sip before his arms gave away the strength and dropped them as gently as possible to his sides.
He attempted at a laugh as she mentioned his winning streak, "You might be right about that. I managed a few though." He said with a slight shrug as he looked up at her. She knew him? Was she kidding? She wouldn't take the time to get to know him anymore if her life depended on it. That comment bothered him slightly and only showed on his face for a few moments before it going blank again. "I wasn't that smart of a kid in high school either but yeah I know. Not one of my finest moments I guess," he managed a slight smirk as he looked at her. As she mentioned people depending on him he nodded. He knew she was right. He couldn't let his son down like that. He tried to convince himself that it wouldn't matter to her if things had turned out for the worse and that he wouldn't care about her, but he couldn't do that. He cared way too much about her.
"It was my choice to start drinking was it not? You didn't force it down my throat. You ended the fight and left I was the one that went and did....this." He ended needing to rest for a few moments. "I wanted to apologize to you by the way. For showing up with someone else tonight. That wasn't fair to you. I just wanted to say i'm sorry." And that was that he didn't want to go on and on about. Simply apologize for hurting her like that because she didn't deserve it. He then went back to looking down at the cup in his hands swirling the water around a bit. He wasn't sure what she would say to his apology probably nothing but he had to get that off his chest and let her know that he felt terrible about it.
