He held her hands in his and looked down at them with a small smile as he ran his thumb back and forth over the back of her hand. He never thought she would be the one telling him that. He always had it in his mind that she worked much harder than him but maybe that was because she was trying to reach her goal of becoming a journalist and he was stuck running a diner and bar. His career alone was something he always swore he would never do, he didn't want to be like Scott at all when he first moved here and now he was more like him everyday. Jack always wanted to be a writer or lawyer, something where he could rant and actually have a good reason behind it. "I'm working just enough to get us prepared for the baby Ava, I mean were gonna cut it close. I've been thinking and its stupid of me not to open the pub earlier and keep it open later, I mean the diner has steady customers but The Orchid is where the money is really coming in from. So if that means I gotta work overtime once in a while and be a little tired then at least I know im providing for my family every night." He told her.

ooc: never realize how much I miss these two until we start rping them again
Ava knew he worked hard for them and that scared her because she knew it wasn't the life he would have chosen. He'd given up his dreams for her to pursue hers and she often wondered if he resented her for that..and if he didn't, would he later resent her for it? He was smart and resourceful and was able of so much more than he was doing here in Point Pleasant. Deep down she knew that they both were. What kinds of news happened in a town like this anyways? Cats getting stuck in trees? Eventually her dreams would carry her away from the small town she'd grown to call home...the first place she'd really ever called home, in fact.
She nodded, looking down at their hands, his more worn than her own soft ones. "You shouldn't have to though." she said, honestly. "I could talk to my parents and maybe get a loan or something.." she suggested, not knowing what else to do. She just wanted him to know he wasn't alone in this.

ooc: Yeah I know right
He looked up at her abruptly, "Come on Ava, you really think i'd let you ask them for a loan...we're fine on our own we dont need money from anyone. I told you I was going to take care of you and I am...I don't want you to worry about these things, you've got more important things like school." He told her with a worn out yet serious look. He didn't want her parents money, he didn't want them to think that he couldn't take care of their daughter and future grandchild. He didn't like talking about finances at all, it was something he saved for the end of each month in the back room at the bar. He would spend time at the desk in the back crunching numbers and wondering when he got so old.

She knew he'd say that. It was obvious right? What man would want to lose his pride and take money from the in-laws? But still, Ava felt like she needed to do something. Realizing they were out front, she pulled him around a corner so they could talk in private. It wasn't anyone else's business after all. "I know we're fine, but if we are only fine because you are working this hard, then we need a better solution..." she told him, looking concerned. She didn't want anything to happen to him and she knew all the problems stress could cause. "And it's not just you in this, either."

"Better solution," he said, raising his voice some, "like what have my pregnant wife behind the bar or serving hot plates..you've got school Ava, you don't want to mess up a good thing like I did." He said folding his arms across his chest and looking around. The last time the stress got to him was when Scott got sick and Jack began doing drugs to take the edge off, it became a big problem and eventually became the reason Jack blamed himself partially for Adam's death. He didn't mean to raise his voice at all, and immediately regretted it. "Im sorry, I just..I don't want you to have to worry over things like this, I promise that if it gets overwhelming for me then I'll take a break and make sure you know. But until then don't worry about it, all you need to do is relax cause in five months your gonna be begging for it." He said with a smirk.

Ava frowned and just listened as he started getting louder. She wasn't offended because she knew he was just frustrated, but still she needed to say something. "Like you did?" she questioned, unsure. "And what exactly did you mess up?" she asked, trying to figure it out. "Because if you wanted to go to school or do something else, it's not like we can't just sell the diner and the Orchid and start fresh. Both are established businesses. I'm sure we could get enough from the sales to do whatever we wanted..."
She said this though a part of her knew he wouldn't be up for it. As much as he resented the diner, it was Scott's and he couldn't bear to walk away from Scott's dream. Ava loved that about him. He was always putting everyone before himself. But as much as she loved it, it scared her. "Promise?" she said when he said that he'd take a break when he needed it. "Because if you don't there will be hell to pay?"

"We both know that's not gonna happen, I don't wanna do anything else-im not complaining,I mean I couldn't imagine doing anything else at this point." He told her with an exhausted sigh,"I promise..now what kinda hell to pay huh?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled sheepishly at her.

Ava nodded, reluctantly when he said he didn't want to do anything else, but nodded nonetheless. She was hesitant, but knew that she wouldn't be able to get him to change his mind about it or anything, so she let it go. She didn't want to fight with him. The hormones would pick enough fights..if she saw him enough to fight at all. "Well for one thing, what type of hell is that?" she asked, knowing by the sheepish grin on his face that he meant sex. Or, well, she thought he had...again, maybe it was hormones. They did say that pregnancy made you more horny and she had to admit, so far that wasn't a lie. So what if coming to the diner had been a small booty call?

He smiled at her as he allowed his hands to rest on her lower back. He kissed her on the corner of her mouth, " I mean I can think of a few very pleasant types of hell I would allow myself to endure but then again I have a warped sense of humor." He said, catching himself before he rambled on for to long and kissed his way from her lips, down her jawline to the soft skin on her neck.

Confused a bit by his rambled, Ava's expression reflected this, at least until he started kissing her. She wasn't opposed to a little PDA, but now she was glad that they'd rounded the corner. "It's too bad Becca is staying in the apartment.." she said with a small moan as he continued. It had been a while since her and her husband had been this close and she didn't want to waste it. Not that it was all about sex or anything. Intimacy. That was what it was. Intimacy.
