He felt sick, not really knowing what he was supposed to be doing. To exhausted to do pretty much anything but sit in the back room listening to the music and voices coming from under the door from the pub. They needed help behind the bar but he physically felt as though he couldn't move let alone stand. A thin metal desk tray was flipped, and covered in a thin straight and light dusting of cocaine he had purchased the day before. His feet up and dangling over the edge of the desk.Both hands were clasped on his forehead, pushing it down in a way of words. His puffy eyes closed slightly as he just sat and let it set in. He knew being at work wasn't going to help any and he should have been home with Tory. I mean how do you cope with your kid passing.... get fucked up and go to work? He moved quick and almost fell out of the chair as he adjusted himself in front of the tray. He moved some of the dust around and chopped it into a thin line, like tiny soldiers. He took a deep breath and held his head up over the line, holding his breath. He pushed back in the chair just a bit and proceeded to do the line.

She was never, or rather, hardly ever at the Orchid anymore, but she knew he'd be there..Well, after she'd gone to the diner and been told he'd left by Tory who had also told her about their son's death. Ava knew he needed her. They were best friends after all..at least she liked to think that after all they'd been through they were.

Walking inside she looked around until she spotted a ray of light and heard music coming from the back. She said hey to a few people, then kept going until she reached the door. She knocked. "Jack? It's me. Can I come in?"

He heard her voice and it seemed he reacted physically quicker than his brain did. He mumbled something incoherent and started feeling the rush of the drugs he shook as he tried to scoop whatever he could back into the bag and threw the tray along with the remaining drag behind him, crashing as it fell causing a loud bang. He brushed it off his desk," One...se- sec" He said as he tried to nervously wipe whatever he could off of his shirt that now had a white stain on it. He cared so much about getting rid of the evidence of it all he forgot his own appearance. His disheveled self completed by bloodshot eyes held down by the bags beneath it and the red that ran over a good part of his face from the sudden rush of blood pulsing through.

Ava heard stuttering in his voice and wondered what it was. Crying, she guessed and if so, it wasn't fair to ask questions about it. Guys normally got embarrassed about things like that. "Okay." she replied simply and stood by the door, waiting for him to open it.

He stumbled over the door and moved to fast, his body hitting against it slighty.He cursed under his breath in a fit of small laughs as he opened the door with a grin, " 'ello there" He said took a few giants steps back over to the desk and sat down on the top of it clumsily.

Ava was not amused. More because she knew Jack was better than this shit. At least her friend Jack was, the Jack in front of her was someone she didn't recognize. Walking inside, she closed the door behind her, catching sight of his bloodshot eyes. "What's been going on Jack?" she asked, sympathetically and trying to understand. "You're not answering your phone and..I'm worried about you." she admitted.

Jack laughed nervously for a moment before jumping up from the desk because he felt the need to move. " Nothing to be worried about, everthings fine" He said moving around the desk. He looked around trying to remember something and grabbed something from the desk and shoved it into his pocket. He moved back and sat down in the chair. He was nervous from the high. Whenever he was high he needed to get away from people in case something happened." The uh phone is gone..off the pier" He added.

Ava watched as Jack made his way, rather pointlessly around the room. She knew he was high. She just wished she knew how too help him. "Fine.." she said, putting her purse down on the little cot in the room. "You're an adult..do what you want..." Tough love. She wasn't going to baby him.

" I never asked for help, thats something we both can agree on." He said standing up from the chair. He didn't want to seem incapable of anything ever. In his mind there was no defense put together for getting high, it was just something that in his mind should be justified without discussion.

"I said I was worried...I never said I came to help." Ava replied sitting down on the cot, unsure of exactly where this conversation was going. She couldn't help, but feel for Tory though. Not only had she lost her child, she was now losing Jack too. He may have not asked for help, but it was clear he needed it.

"Whatever" He said moving around the room, he ran a shaky hand over his eyes and folded his arms,then, across his chest. " No reason to worry yourself about me, like I said everything's just fine." He said as he moved to lean against the desk.

Ava nodded. "Alright then..." she said with a small shrug, pretending she didn't care..which was hard because he was one of the most important people in her world. "I'm just saying that 'I'm high as a kite' look really doesn't work for you." She shrugged again, having yet to make eye contact, instead busying herself as she looked through her purse.

He slammed a fist down on his desk. He wouldn't look at her, he was to ashamed. " I don't have to justify anything, its my problem." He said, raising his voice slightly. His head was starting to hurt so he started moving around again. He could never sit still and his high wasn't deflating at all.

"So don't." Ava replied simply with another shrug. "I'm just curious though...how much better do you feel, really?" she asked him. "I mean, if it helps you so much then maybe I should be asking you to share some..Hell, maybe we could relive high school and make a party of it." She wasn't serious. Just wanted him to realize that the high would soon end and he'd be facing his problems all over again.

"I take what I can, my life- my life pretty much has sucked since birth. I got nothing else, so yeah I'm gonna do anything I can for how ever long it lasts to make it seem that not everything I touch turns to fucking shit!" He yelled. He turned away from her and looking down at his hands.
