Ouch..Giving up on the sarcastic act she'd been pulling, she was lost in words, something that rarely happened to this writer. She stood and stuck her hands into the pockets on her hoodie as she watched him. "Jack...look, I'm sorry okay..I just wanted you to know you don't always have to be so strong. With your uncle and Adam and..all of it. Seriously. I know you don't want my help, but I want to give it."

"Don't apologize, I didn't mean to yell." He said rubbing his head which now pulsated with a radiating pain. " Look I got it under control, it just helps with...everything," He said looking over to her, "I've been doing it on my own- and it's all I know, it works for me." He added.

"But if there could be something else that worked.." Ava replied, almost pleading him. "If there was...would you take it?" she asked him, wanting to know. She just wanted him to be happy and seeing that he wasn't..it killed her.

He didn't answer her right away, he moved off his desk and sat back down in the chair. He rested forward on his elbows,resting them on his knees. "You know why I wasn't watching Adam that night..'Cause I told her that I had work- truth is I was to fucked up to even leave the bar. Scott's on his way out, Tory aint talking to me- this is all I got Ava." He said pulling the tiny bag of powder out of his pocket and throwing it onto the desk. "What's the point now?" He added quietly.

Ava listened to him, feeling for him. "The point is..I know what its like to be alone." she replied, thinking back to when she'd first come to Pleasant. She'd had no family and no friends..until one boy made her feel special, and it was Blake either. "And it sucks, but the thing is, you're not alone Jack. You gave me strength to stick things out back when I was wanting to quit and now, I'm going to do that for you. I'm not going anywhere.." She looked at him. "Look, Tory will come around, but if you want her forgiveness getting stoned isn't the answer.."

"I don't know what to do anymore...tell me what to do." He said as he put his hands up to cover his face, sighing deeply, " I just don't know anymore Ava." He added quietly as he rubbed his face and leaned back into the chair. He needed a drink really bad right now, trying to fight pulling out the bottle was taking every ounce he had.

"Well for starts.." Ava looked at the bag of coccaine and sighed, crossing her arms across her chest. "You're going to need a new coping method." she replied being honest with him. "But I can't force you to do that. It will only happen if you want it to..and you need to tell Tory whats going on...all of it."

He looked at the bag on the table, he could think of a handful of things he could replace it with but not the drinking, the drinking seemed as though it would never go away, his veins ran with whiskey. He looked up at her at the mention of Tory, "I couldn't tell her, i've already ruined any chance of- anything with her." He said looking back down at his shoes.

"Did she tell you that?" Ava asked, knowing that until Tory said it, things weren't over. "Or is that what you want? For it to be over." Ava doubted he wanted it to be over, having seen that way he looked at her. She knew though that Tory deserved the truth about what had been going on...it would maybe even help him get her back. Lies never did any good.

"She didn't say anything" He said trying to remember what now seemed like such a long time ago. "She wouldn't even look at me- this isn't.. Its not gonna work without fight, I'm a stubborn ass- i know that..It would kill me to tell her" He said looking over at ava.

"Yes you are a stubborn ass.." Ava agreed with a small teasing smile. "..but I think Tory knows that and accepts that. Jack, you don't give up on the people you love and..I think you need to give her a bit more credit. She could've stayed in New York, but she came back for you."

''Yeah, you got a point there ace." He said standing up and stretching, he faltered and grabbed the desk for support, " Just promise me something, Scott doesn't hear about this and no rehab programs, I gotta do this on my own" He said before picking up the bag of cocaine and holding it tight in his fist before letting it drop into the waste basket.

Ava watched the cocaine fall into the waste basket and wondered if he'd just take it out when she left. She was smart and knew addicts lied. Still, she was going to give him the benefit of the doubt..just once. "Fine..but don't let me down, okay? I mean it." she said, hoping he'd listen.

"Yeah yeah" He said looking around the room, thinking about all the places he had stuff hidden, he wasn't going to last much longer in here." I'm probably gonna head out soon-leave sam with the closing." He said with a nod. His head was still killing him but was approaching a dull pain instead of the throbbing.

Ava nodded. "Do you need a ride somewhere?" she offered, grabbing her purse and looking at it. She didn't really have plans so she'd probably go home after.
