Lance stood there watching her as she looked away. Kennedy shy? It was hard to believe but she had changed quite a bit since he had left. He had a feeling it was because people had been just up and leaving her left a right. He hoped that if this went okay and they did get back in a relationship in the future that he would see the side of Kennedy that was outgoing and wild. Well she probably wouldn't be as wild as she used to be due to the fact that they both had a child they were going to take care of, but a little bit of a wild side never hurt anyone. As he watched her step back and cover her hands over her mouth he started to panic.
He had seen a few people go through panic attacks/anxiety attacks. He knew not to touch her or go near her. She would be okay hopefully in a few minutes. He stood there in fear for her though as he watched her. He had probably overwhelmed her and plus she had a lot of things going on in her life and he was making things more complicated. He knew it but he couldn't stop himself he had always been attracted to Kennedy and right then and now was just an example of that feeling. Everything about her enticed him to stay around her. He must have been crazy to leave her for Rachel. Though she had told him to not worry about her and try again with Rachel back when they had made their "mistake" that turned into a miracle.
He knew he shouldn't have he should have just stayed strong and waited for her to come around for him again. It was like fate just kept throwing these two together. He wad done denying that they would never work because it wouldn't be a true statement. Oddly enough these two worked amazingly well together despite what other people had said. He was done taking other people's judgments as an effecting decision in his life. He was making his own choices and he knew that Kennedy was the woman for him. She was the one he had to have no other woman could compare. He watched as she began to calm herself. He unclenched his hand that had clenched up in fear for her. He started to breath easier as he watched her.
As a beautiful smile dawned on her lips he couldn't help but smile back. Had what he had done and said turned out to be a good thing? Was she finally done being stubborn and denying her feelings for him? There had to have been feelings for him because she had kissed him first. Sure it had been to see if there had been anything between them anymore and of course there had. It had been like the first time when he had felt an electric jolt spark through his entire body. He felt his hand touch her soft skin as he looked down at her. He couldn't help himself as he wrapped his other arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. He caressed her cheek gently as he leaned down and kissed her forehead gently letting his lips linger for a moment. He didn't know what to say at this moment he was still shocked that she had not been mad at his words.

Kennedy calmed herself down easily as she leaned against the tree. She hadn't looked in Lance's direction at all so she hadn't known that he had been worried for her, though she would tell him it was nothing because lately these seemed a way of life. With everything that was going on all at once with Kennedy all she could do was call small panic attacks normal, there was just too much on her mind these days with everyone strolling into town around the same time, and now she had to add the kiss and intensity between her and Lance. Great, just one more thing to add to the already too long of a list of thoughts swirling through her mind. She didn't mind though, since Lance had returned her he had consumed all her thoughts causing it hard to function without even thinking about him. It had been the same way back in high school, the problem being she had been taken back in high school whereas she was completely single right now. The only man in her life had been her, their son.
He hadn't pulled away when she nuzzled into his hand, that being a good sign as the smile that had already been on her face grew even wider. She loved even the simplest of moments with him, and now knowing she didn't have to look over her shoulder while being affectionate made it all the better. She hated having to run around behind locked doors with him, Lance just wasn't the type that you should be ashamed of, and still the two tried to never be caught in public due to the eyes and ears all around. Something was bound to get back to their partners, though in the end look where that had gotten both of them. Kennedy had been out of a relationship for over two years, Lance taking it further into an engagement before breaking it off. When she felt his other arm around her waist she pulled herself closer to his body with his help, she knew and told herself over in her head that she shouldn't be doing this, and yet she never moved away from him as he pecked her forehead. Instead the only thing she had moved had been her hands, them letting go of his hand and slipping around his waist so she could give him a much needed embrace. This had started to feel like school again, Kennedy liking the feeling that accompanied being so close and physically touching him.
For however much time it had taken to hug him tightly she let her thoughts be clouded with everything that had happened through her and Lance's 'relationship' that had started in high school. Her stomach started to twist as she thought of all their experiences together, though in the privacy of just each others company, and her thoughts quickly shifted to her son. Kennedy wiggled out of the embrace and looked away stepping, more like fumbling, back a few steps as she turned to the water crossing her arms infront of her chest. Good ol' typical Kenn these days, gets something accomplishes and then clamps shut again. It was starting to get old and tireding, but this had just how she had learnt to become and luckily nobody around had usually had to put up with this. She hadn't hung out with someone in quite some time, well aside from the babysitter/nanny when she was around, so her social skills were slightly rusted and she would have to work on those. She could become the outspoken amazing Kennedy she had once been, but that would take time and effort on his part. She just wasn't sure if he had the patience considering each time the two saw each other an arguement would break out, that alone was getting tireding.
"Like I said, we shouldn't be doing this." Her voice had been really quiet and almost shaky, her thoughts of high school in her mind more now. So many people had been ashamed of them, her more specifically because when in a cheating relationship had the man been to blame? The girl would be classified as a whore while the man would get a pat on the back, Kenn knew that she had gotten worse from the public once her pregnancy had gotten out there. Hell Lance's original girlfriend had still accepted him enough to want to marry him and spend the rest of her life with him, why couldn't Kenn have her romantic happy ending? "I can't handle the reactions of our peers." She told him truthfully. She was worried that hearing that her and Lance had gotten close again would spark a whole other set of vicious rumors and other rude comments, so of course she had to be hesitant around Lance at all angles. "We're not even supposed to be friends, people just like it better when we're not, well us." She said, a shrug as her voice rose from the faint hush it had been at the beginning of her slight ramble.

As she wrapped her arms around him he felt complete at that moment. He knew this was too good to be true. It had come too fast. Though he held her tighter just to savor the moment. He would have to be okay with this for the moment because who knew when it would come around again. He looked down at her as she seemed to be lost in her own thoughts. She had that beautiful smile of hers on her lips though. This caused his smile to grow even wider. He then started to think of Ryan. To complete a family for their son would be amazing it was just good to know Kennedy still felt the same way for him. He knew they wouldn't just fall back to the way they used to be because it had been quite some time ago.
Time. It had always been the agent working against him and Kennedy. Time had interfered when they had begun relationships before finally finding how well they had worked together in high school and had unfortunately had to hide it. Time had given them crap when everyone found out and Kennedy had become pregnant. He had felt terrible for her because it always seemed the girl got the worst out of an 'affair' in high school. He had been given dirty looks and called shit but not nearly to the degree that Kennedy had. He wished he had been able to comfort her through that but they had decided to leave each other be. She had wanted Rodney. That had killed him as well and had driven him to get back with Rachel. Out of pure anger that Rodney had still be the one for her.
As she pulled away he shut his eyes. He knew it would have happened sometime. She was rethinking this whole situation. She was putting a negative look upon it. He sighed a bit as she started to speak. He went to open his mouth but just shut it and shook his head. He couldn't agree with her but he didn't want to start a fight. This could happen and it was happening whether she knew that. They had already turned the gears and it was starting again. Soon they would have those moments where they couldn't be without each other. The times when they just had to be close. As she mentioned the fact that the reaction from other people were her worry his jaw dropped slightly. So her feelings for him were gonna be thrown away because of other people? This is what it had come to? He shut his mouth as he looked away from her and clenched his jaw. It upset him that she was saying this. "I don't care what these people think. They were wrong about us before and they would be wrong about us now." He said quietly though he knew she heard him. "They aren't going to control my life and tell me who I should be with. You and I work well I don't care what they say. We would be amazing together. I know it....you know it." He mentioned the last part with hope in his voice.

When she had broke from him she noticed that he had stayed where he had been not daring to take a step to her as she contemplated what had just happened. She had no problem during her high school years doing anything with Lance, he had been like a drug to her that she could just not get enough of. Now that they were older she tried to mature though to her he had still been that sort of drug, the adrenaline rush alone she had gotten from being close to him was enough to bring a whole new meaning to her attitude. Kennedy was not afraid to step out of the norm with Lance, he had always done that for her, but like always she would kick back and forth between right and wrong around him. It probably drove him crazy but now that she had a child she had to think more about her actions, it wasn't about just what had made her feel good these days but more about what would make her and her son happy. She knew that having a father would make Ryan happy, he seemed to like Lance already and she knew with time he could love him, but what could she honestly do? Just walk inside and tell Ryan that his father had been Lance, he was so young he wouldn't understand so it wasn't like it should be such a bad thing, but still the thought had her so nervous and scared.
"They weren't wrong," She told him as she shook her head avoid eye contact with him as she started to play with the hem of her mothers shirt. "I was a whore, I should have just broken up with Rodney that way I wouldn't have hurt him like I did. We wouldn't have been called so many names, we just could have been happy and probably made something out of what we had." She told him as she brought her eyes to meet his just once before quickly pushing her sight from him. "I just let my emotions get ahead of me and I acted before really thinking, I let a lot of people down. Pregnancy, yeah that was unexpected but still I mean I wouldn't trade him for the world, but still it's just, I was wrong. I just I should have just been single and it would have been better, everyone knows that." She said with a sigh as she wanted to just kick herself for getting into such a mess like she had. "And look at you, I mean I wasn't in this alone." She said as she looked up at him, her foot taking a step towards him. "You were with Rachel, if you really liked me you should have just dumped her." Kennedy was now lashing out because she had nowhere else to go with this. She was grasping at straws, not very good of ones either though her voice had not been raised at all.
When he mentioned the two of them being good together she just looked at him for a moment, complete desperation in her face as she hadn't a clue what to say. Of course she knew the two would be good together, the two had been great together all throughout their time in high school together. It helped that they had been in the same clique, star player with cheerleader, so of course all the times they had hung out were nothing less than extraordinary. "Do we work well though?" She asked curiously looking at him. "How do we really know that? We never got to bring a relationship to the public, the only time we were seen in public was in a group. When we were alone we made sure nobody had been around, how do you know we can function well? Things aren't like they were in high school Lance, Ryan is there now. I just," She looked down at her feet as she couldn't help but step closer to him still, her arms outstretched as she reached around to hug him again. "I wish things could just be easy like they were back then, we were happy and nobody stood in our way." She said shaking her head as she let it fall against his chest pulling herself closer to him. She missed being this close to Lance, it had been some quite time and she still couldn't get used to it. "I know," She did manage to whisper against his shirt as she just closed her eyes letting herself take in the entire situation. She didn't care if he'd hugged her or not, this hadn't been about him as she'd fought her own inward battle. She just knew that here, right at this moment, had felt right and who was to judge that?

He listened to her as she called herself a whore. He had a disgusted look on his face as she continued to talk about herself like that. He was done telling her she wasn't a whore because she just disregarded his words. He decided to stay quiet as she continued to ramble on about what they could have done in the past. It had been more complicated then that and she knew it. They had talked about breaking it off with their other relationships but Kennedy had just liked Rodney too much to do that to him. He had somewhat understood at the time. He had been feeling the same towards Rachel. Though those times were over they needed to stop dwelling in the past. As she mentioned Rachel and how if he had liked her so much she should have broke up with Rachel he just nodded, "You're right I should have, but Kenn we can't stop looking into the past. This is now and we have to take it all in and look into the future."
He hoped she would understand. He wasn't trying to spark an argument which was why he had just agreed with her when she had lashed out. He understood her anger and hesitant mannerisms at the moment. She was scared of something good happening in her life. She always thought of what could have gone wrong. He hoped to god they would just work out. He would do anything in his power to be the best he could for her. He wanted her so badly. He couldn't even think of being without this woman at the moment. She had sunk back into his head and now that he knew she liked him back the possibilities were endless. As he watched her continue to silently contemplate he saw her take steps back towards him. He hid his smile though because he wasn't sure what would happen if he did.
"We'll never know if we don't try. I don't think I could ever regret being with you. I never have I just don't see it happening." He said shrugging his shoulders as it was all genuine. He really was one hundred percent sure that they would work out. He understood that there would be arguments. Hell they had already had their share of arguments. Lance was getting better at handling them he had just dodged one earlier by just agreeing with her. As she wrapped her arms around him and placed her head against his chest he just stood there for a moment. He didn't know if he should hug her back. He decided to take the chance as he wrapped his arms around her. He let out a sigh of relief as he held her.

Kennedy had not expected him to say something as she rambled, though when she heard him speak up after her little comment about Rachel and she stopped only for a minute to listen to him. She let out a sigh when he started to talk about the past and more importantly the future. What would the future hold for two that never seemed to have it easy? Why after all that she had put him through since his return had he even wanted to speak about their future together? She could not believe that from the point at the hotel to now they were even considering a relationship, though maybe they weren't and she was just reading into his words the wrong way. No that couldn't be, he seemed to make it clear without actually just asking her to be his. If that had happened she would have no idea what to say, honestly would she say yes or find another excuse to not? Probably the excuse, Kennedy had been full of them lately even though she knew she shouldn't use them like she had. She wished that she could be as easy going as she had been back in high school, but she knew that was partially the reason she was in this situation. She wished that she could say she'd made the wrong choices back then, but everything that had happened with Lance had just seemed so right. Who was she to push something away that she had loved so dearly?
"Does it sound like I regret it?" She asked softly looking up at him for just a second before quickly adverting her eyes. She rocked against her heels as she looked down at the ground around her feet. "I don't," She wanted to clear that up so he at least knew that much. She had not regretted doing what she had done, she had the time of her life and had developed all sorts of feelings for him. "The only thing I regret is hurting Rodney." She had not felt bad about hurting Rachel, she had been a bitch that Kenn could not stand. Kennedy hated how Rachel had acted around the school and loved the fact that she had hurt her, someone had to knock her down a step or two. Rachel could have all the money in the world and Kenn had still won, she had gotten the most important thing in all of this, Lance's heart. It wasn't that Kenn had done any of this with him just to piss Rachel off, she had been the last person on Kenn's mind as her and Lance snuck around, but it was just a perk after everything that had happened. "I would never regret you Lance, you have to know that if that one sentence is all you take away from tonight." A small smile flickered on Kenn's face as she thought about it, she was glad Lance wanted to try to be a family, or at least that is what she was getting out of the conversation.
Then she was unsure as she went and hugged him, his arms staying limp before he finally held her in his arms. That is what she had wanted and at first she was getting nervous thinking she should pull away, but as soon as she felt his arms around her she just sunk into him smiling some thankful that he could not see her right now. She had no idea what to say as she just shut her eyes taking in everything that had happened tonight. To think that it started with a lie and a fight, her lie about their son and the fight about god knows what. Fights seemed easy for them to come into, they could argue just about anything and that was a curse in a way, though the blessing had been that their arguements were resolved quickly and they could move on. "I am so confused" She whispered against his shirt before she pulled away some so she could look him in the eyes. She knew that tonight after everything that he had said she had to speak her own truths, he deserved at least that much and it seemed to be that he had some sort of feelings for her. She wasn't sure just how strong they had been though from his actions they seemed strong enough, this had been the time that she was to tell him something. Something huge, something life altering, and she could only hope that he wouldn't run away from her. She had a feeling he wasn't clueless as to what she was going to say next, everyone could probably see it, and after knowing he'd left another woman just to be with her made her need to tell him this all the more.
She had no problem talking and telling him what she had thought before so she figured she should just but her heart out there on her sleeve right now. "I think i'm in love with you," She said quickly knowing that if she'd thought about it more she wouldn't have been able to say or do anything. She took a deep breathe and stepped away from him, her arms hanging at her sides as she walked back over towards the edge of the quarry. She took a deep breathe, wow that had been harder than she'd thought and she was regretting her words. "I mean I think I thought I fell in love with you in high school," she tried to say something else as she hoped he wasn't too weirded out right now. "You have no idea how mad I was when you left town, I actually think I was more upset over you leaving than I ever was with Rodney. I think," She sighed, this had been too hard to do and she was walking in circles it seemed. "I should head home, I have to get up in the morning." She said with a sigh, it had been a lie and she hadn't wanted to leave but she felt so weird after telling him that. She sighed as she untied the front of her shirt so it could hang back over her thighs as she ran her hands quickly over her shorts to smooth them out as she turned from him and started for her car.

He wanted to tell her that it did in fact sound like she regretted it. That's how he felt standing there at that moment. That she had regretted being with him and that he had been a huge mistake in her life. Though to hear that he wasn't gave him a huge wave of relief. He couldn't believe he was hearing this though he was so glad he was. To know that she had been as into him as he had and not regretted any of it even after all they had both gone through meant so much to him. He nodded at the understanding of her hurting Rodney was the only thing she wished she could have avoided. Though it had been something that would have happened either way. She would have hurt him had she broken up with him it would have just been a different degree of hurt. Though he had felt terrible for hurting Rachel. He could tell she had no remorse for the way he had hurt Rachel. He truly had no remorse for hurting Rodney in the situation so they were on mutual terms with each other's ex's.
He nodded as she told him to know that she would never regret me. He could have made some witty comment to that but decided to leave things on a serious note. That had been one problem with him and his brother they had hard times being serious though Lance was better at it than Aiden. Though that's probably because Aiden's counterpart Stephanie Davis liked to keep things humorous as well. "Well I won't lie it's a nice thing to hear after being in fear that you had in fact regretted what we had shared." He said honestly as he looked at her. He had thought since they hadn't been together that she had wished she had shared those times with Rodney instead of him. It was good to know that he had come out number one. He had won. It was a good feeling anyone expediences when finding they had been number one in someone else's life when for a long time you had thought it had been the other way around.
He had noticed she had cheered up slightly when he had returned the embrace. He was glad he had decided to because it had made things even better. There was a possible future for them now. They might still have a few more arguments in them but they seemed to move past them fast. That was something they had matured from. As she mentioned being confused it put him into a puzzled state. He wondered what she had been confused about. I mean he was sure it involved him but about what? There were so many things it could have been. He looked at her puzzled as she looked up at him. He was dying to know now and it looked like she was about to tell him so he braced himself for it. A feeling creeped up on him that he had a feeling he knew what it was about. He got a little scared but hid it from his face.
His throat went dry, his heart sped up, and there was ringing in his ears. So much had just happened to him when she had uttered those words. He felt his body going numb and being the idiot he was he just stood there looking shocked. He knew right away she was nervous by saying that and he sure as hell wasn't helping. He would beat himself up about it later. He watched her walk away from him back over to the edge of the quarry. He was speechless and had no idea what to say. As she stood there spilling her heart out to him and he was just speechless. He was getting a giddy feeling though as her words finally registered in his head. He knew she had meant the first sentence. She thought she was still in love with him. As he still stood there emotionless as she continued to say everything. As she saw him she must have freaked and started to walk away from him. He stood there still for a few moments before a grin broke out on his lips. He jogged after her as he caught up with her easily he lifted her in his arms and twirled her around, "Bullshit you have to get up early in the morning." He said grinning at her. He didn't say anything else as he planted his lips against her and pulled her into him. He pulled his lips back after a moment and said softly looking into her blue eyes, "I'm pretty sure I haven't fallen out of love with you since back in high school. I was just afraid you had wanted Rodney over me." He said still with a grin on his face as he couldn't have been any happier.

Kennedy shook her head once more when Lance started to talk, of course there were times that she had wished she could regret him, but in the end she never could. Not Lance, no matter what he had done with leaving and all she just never had the heart to just let him go. "I mean you must have met something if I cheated on someone," She said, though knew it hadn't always had to deal with actually liking someone, sometimes all it had to deal with had been one's sexual appetite, pretty much if the girl had wanted it enough anyone would do. Kennedy had not been like that, granted her and Rodney had never actually slept together she still cared about Lance, it wasn't a strictly for sex relationship, that proving positive when the two had only slept together that once. First times a charm though in their cases, or at least stupidity wise since she'd gotten pregnant, though again she had no remorse or regret for any of that. There were times when she thought back on their private relationship when she was bored at night, the small things just the two of them shared while noone else was around, and she couldn't help but find herself smiling as she'd been happy about the series of events.
When he had just stood there Kennedy sort of looked at him for just seconds urging him to say something, even just do something but nothing. He just stood there completely silent most likely in shock, that upset Kennedy and of course caused her nerves to boil over as she'd made her lie and turned to head back towards the car. She could feel her hands clenching into fists as she had been aggravated that after that he'd say nothing, the man had no problem speaking his mind any other time even when she'd prefer him quiet, and yet the one time she actually wanted to hear him he said nothing. She had been so swept up in her thoughts as she almost reached her car, that is before she felt someones hands on her as her feet had left the ground, her in mid-stride at that, and she'd been spun around as Lance had finally started to speak. She could see the grin on his face and had taken that as a good sign, though she was still a little upset that he couldn't have said or done something earlier, though her hands that had been in fists were slowly starting to unclench, them dropping themselves on his shoulders. Kenn loved being in Lance's arms like this, she knew she couldn't very well stay there forever or he might get tired though, but for now she'd take advantage of his awesome good mood. One that she had delivered with a simple sentence, though those three words proved to be more complicated than all others in the english language, well for now. There were small phrases that come later on at some relationships that prove harder than the initial love you, but Kennedy was not thinking about that because that would mean she was getting way too ahead of herself.
Kennedy just looked into his eyes as he started to speak about love and Rodney. Kenn had almost believed at a few times that she had wanted Rodney over him, he had been around when Lance turned the corner and ran away with that thing called Rachel. Again she hadn't wanted to even think about Rachel at a time like this, but since the two hadn't really moved on anywhere from where they were in high school she had no choice but to. She hoped that the relationship, or whatever you wanted to call it, could move past the stage it had been in at this moment, maybe having told him her feelings it could at least go somewhere instead of stay at the stupid level it'd been at right now with nothing but bickering and small talk, talk that was not as easily identified as conversation considering the two of them and their inability to have any sort of conversation that didn't result in an arguement. "It doesn't matter," Kenn said as she shook her head looking down at him, him having her higher than him just some as he'd picked her up. "Not tonight, can we just forget about them?" That proved easier said than done, though when Kenn was with Lance before she had an easy time forgetting so maybe it could be that easy again. Maybe if the two weren't constantly fighting and she'd bring them up to get some leverage in the arguement she could move past them, maybe hopefully. She finally let a smile slip over her lips as she leaned in and kissed him again, god his lips had felt so good and had definitely been something she'd been missing for a long time.

Lance nodded as she asked to not mention their past. He was all okay with that. They needed to worry about each other not what could or what should have happened a few years ago. As she kissed him he slowly set her down on the ground. He backed her up so she was leaning against her car. He placed his hands around her on the car as he leaned in and deepened the kiss. He always had had a hard time controlling himself around her. She brought out this fire within him that always shone brightly with her. He felt like he was on top of the world right now.
He moved one hand to go to her cheek and caress it gently as he kissed her. The feeling of her lips on his made his become tingly. He moved his lips down to her neck. He left a trail of kisses down it staying there for a few moments before going back to her lips. He moved his hand to wrap around her waist pulling himself to her as they were leaning against the car. He couldn't believe this was happening. He was definitely taking advantage of the situation. He wasn't entirely sure what this meant for them. Though he didn't care right now. He just wanted to take in as much of her as possible.
He slowly pulled from the kiss to catch his breath as he looked into her eyes. The eyes he had loved so much. He could never get enough of them. He had a small grin on his lips as he kept eye contact. He knew this was the girl that would make him truly happy in life. This was the girl he was meant to be with. He felt like he had this little body high due to her. His body was numb and tingly as he looked at her. "You are so beautiful even when you don't try." He said quietly to her leaning back for a second to check her out. She always drove him crazy even if she was just in her sweats and no make up. He grinned as he leaned in and gave her a short sweet kiss before leaning back again to continue gazing into her eyes.

The more Kenn stayed closer to Lance the more the entire world around them seemed to disappear. She could not believe how easy it was to get lost in this world with him just like it had been before. For these few moments it did feel like the two were in high school again, the young love against all odds, though one thing was different about this time. They had no reason to hide, they didn't have to look over their shoulders to make sure somebody wouldn't see them and report back to anyone, and having that main distraction gone had made it so much easier to just dive further into the moment. She could feel her feet touching ground once more, luckily he'd gotten the idea to push her back against the car thankfully because she was having a hard time imagining standing on her own right now with the feeling she'd had in her legs.
His hands seemed to fit perfectly on either side of her as her slipped around his waist though just rested on his hips as the kiss just seemed to electrify her. So much had been held back between them for a good number of years and it seemed the more the two showed any affection towards one another the harder it would be to head in another direction. Every inch of her body had wanted him, to just jump back like the two were in high school again, but she knew that the time had not been right and of course she didn't want to seem too eager to be with him. When his lips parted from hers she too took a deep breathe as her sight dropped to the ground behind her, a nervous chew of her bottom lip as she couldn't help but try to hide a grin that had appeared on her lips. She wanted to say something, anything at a moment like this, but all she could even think of had been the one word wow, and of course she wouldn't speak up with that one knowing it might sound somewhat lame of her. She didn't want to say something wrong right now, something that would stop whatever they'd had going on, and although wow had been a positive word it just didn't seem to fit.
Luckily she hadn't had to say anything as his lips came back to hers, though this kiss had been a lot sweeter and quick. She smiled some, luckily having stopped biting her lip or it would have made for one weird positioned smack on the lips, and watched him as he started to speak. She was so thankful that he had been the first to say something, and of course that something had been a compliment sending an immediate fire-red complexion to her cheeks. "Uh, thanks." She said taking a moment to look down at her outfit that she had worn. "You're looking better these days," She told him before realizing that had been the wrong thing to say. "I mean you always looked good, but it seems the older and more mature you get the more handsome you are." Oh god she sounded so old right then and there, again she nervously started to chomp away at her bottom lip, nothing hard of course because she didn't want to break skin or hurt herself, but she did manage to do it hard enough that she could feel it and that sensation would be the cause of her distraction.
"Lance?" She asked as she looked up into his eyes for a moment, a small sheepish smile on her lips now. "I need to cool down." She said with a slight chuckle squirming from around him and running towards the edge of the quarry. She stopped right before she jumped of course having to unbutton her shirt so her mothers overshirt would not get wet, but she kept her short shorts on as she looked back at him for just a minute before waving, backing up a few steps, and running leaping forward into the air feeling the ultimate rush come onto her as the chilled night air caught up with her as she plummeted towards the water. This had never gotten old, plus it had gotten her away from him where her thoughts were running wild and she was afraid of what she'd do next. You could hear the plunk in the water as her small form sunk beneath the non-existant waves, her laughing as she re-surfaced throwing her hair back away from her eyes. "That was insane!" She called, mostly to herself though wherever Lance had been he could hear her.

Lance held her close taking it all in. Here he was standing holding the girl he loved. He couldn't have felt any better in his opinion. It had gotten pretty dark outside so the blush wasn't that easy to recognize on her cheeks. He did see it for a second though. He smiled and ran his thumb over her cheek gently. As she complimented him he looked at her strange for a second until she got nervous and went on and on explaining what she meant. He put a hand over his mouth to stop himself from laughing, "Well thank you....I think." He said with a grin as he looked down at her. It was good to know she still found him attractive. He had been afraid when he had dyed his hair black because he had wanted a change. The paparazzi hadn't been able to find him for a few days until he went out with Rachel and then knew to look for a man with black hair.
As she said his name he looked down at her curious as to what she was going to say. She had already astounded him when she had said she still liked him and had even used the word love. It had scared him at first but he was definitely not afraid anymore. Especially since he had been in love with her since back in high school. It shouldn't have been a complicated decision when Rachel had asked him to move to New York with her. He should have said no he had a child on the way and the woman he was in love with was bearing his child. Though he had to continue his charade because he didn't know if Kennedy wanted anything to do with him. He knew he had been a fool but was already moving on from that.
As she left his arms he felt like something was now missing. He watched her as she turned to run back towards where they had been sitting. His eyes got wide as he was afraid for her for a moment when she jumped out over the edge. His eyes surveyed her body again as she took her shirt off. He jogged over to the edge after she had landed. He looked down at her and laughed as she yelled up to him. He stepped back and disappeared from her sight. He took off his shirt and placed it near the other one. Well he put it on the ground underneath it so if the other one was to fall it wouldn't fall in the dirt. He knew a bit about that shirt back when Kennedy had told him. He took a few more steps back and ran for the edge. He vaulted off and felt free for a few seconds before the water enveloped around him. The shock of the cold water fell all over him. He resurface and slicked his hair back out of his face. He swam over to her, "You're crazy you know that?" He said with a grin as he waded in the water.

Kennedy just laughed nervously when he'd thanked her, kind of. He was probably just as taken back from her compliment as she had been for giving it to him. "You're welcome," She managed to mutter through that nervous fit of nearly giggles now. She had sounded so stupid but her thoughts just didn't seem to be fitting well together tonight. She had no intentions of being close with him at all right now, she could have very well kept on hating him and trying to spark up fights each time the two had met, but tonight just seemed so perfect that she was glad the two hadn't been able to argue as much. She couldn't help but wonder when and where their next arguement would spark up though, Kenn and Lance had a hard time staying civil and would usually fight randomly, though that had been a charm of their relationship if you wanted to look at it like that. They could fight and make up just like that, take tonight for example. Kenn didn't enjoy fighting with Lance but found it hard to avoid getting onto a subject that could much less start a war of words. The one thing that had been hard to figure was who would wave the white flag first, both Lance and kenn had done their fair share of apologizing to end the arguement. "Just don't think too much into it alright?" She asked carefully looking up at him. She was unsure of where these two were heading, they had been down this road before and didn't read the street signs telling them to slow down and they crashed and burned ultimately. What would it be like this time? Had they managed to follow the speed, though tonight Kennedy seemed to be doing a million miles a minute.
And with that Kennedy had halted, she had removed herself from the situation and brought her thoughts to something else. Those moments of a freefall down into the water after she had taken her mothers shirt off. She had no idea where he had been nor what he had been doing, that is until she could see the man plummeting down into the water just away from her. She of course swam from her spot so she could watch as the water splashed all around where his body had connected with the somewhat cold water, and after he'd re-surfaced and slicked his hair back she could see him coming closer to her. "Didn't think the temperature through too well," She told him laughing some as she felt a shiver surge through her body. It was funny, the weather was usually so beautiful in Florida and yet during the night the water always seemed to be chilly. "Want to know what else I didn't think about?" She asked looking around at the small path that lead up the side of the quarry, the two would have to climb out of there fumbling up a muddy path with wet feet. She didn't mind though, instead just pointed towards where they would ultimately have to leave when they were done swimming and shrugged some.
"Remember the first time I did that?" She asked, Lance having been there with her during that time. That had been before the two went sneaking around with each other, back when they were just close friends who ran around in the same group. She let her back lean against the water and she moved her arms at her sides to swim around in the water, having them be the only two there had made this so peaceful. "I was so scared to jump and wouldn't go until you had." She laughed some when she'd remembered begging him to jump first. "Of course you did it, I don't know why but you did, and I still was scared shitless." She shook her head feeling her hair getting soaked even more from the water. "The whole group was edging me forward and then that one kid just pushed me towards the edge. I caught myself just before I fell over, but thought that since i'd been so close I might as well just leap. I jumped and when I hit the water I yelped, oh man you could have heard me a mile away I bet. But you were right there to get me when I came back up, and didn't I almost spit like a mouthfull of water right in your face?" She remembered something like that, her thinking she'd been choking and swallowing a good amount though another amount had been squirted from her mouth. "Remember that?" She asked stopping just inches from him as she had a grin on her face. "That was so much fun," The more she thought about it the more she had loved spending time with them even when they were just friends.
"What ever happened to our group? I know the whole thing with Rachel went down but I never hung out with her. I hated her, remember when I wouldn't even let her join the varsity cheer squad just because I didn't want to have to see her at each practice?" Kenn remembered that well, when she had been the captain she forced Rachel into JV just so she didn't have to put up with her. The more she thought about it she laughed, that had been hilarious when she had faught with Rachel about that. Lance might not have been too happy, but if Rachel had been on varsity the night at the basketball conference would have never happened, and they wouldn't have had Ryan together, and pretty much their worlds would be turned upside down.

Lance merely nodded as she told him not to think too much into it. He knew she was just protecting her heart from him right now. He had broken it or so it seemed he had. He had to regain that trust of hers so she could openly say things like that and not think of the repercussions. He felt guilty as he found that she had to do that around him. He was ready to be with her and only her. There was no other woman he wanted or needed. Kennedy was his whole world and the only one he would devote his world to. He easily deemed leaving her as the biggest mistake of his life and would never forget it. Nights back in New York were sleepless because he thought of Kennedy every night. Lance had always wondered what she had been doing or what she had been up to. He thought of her on a daily basis and soon began to think of her more than he was doing anything else. His had slipped in work and was getting complaints because of it. He knew that his life could return to normal now that she was present in his life. Even if it wasn't as his significant other.
He chuckled and nodded as he felt the cold surge through his body. He knew they would get used to it eventually but the walk back up would not be fun considering the wind would surely sting their skin. He saw her shiver and took her hand loosely and swam over to a ledge that was submerged in water. He took a seat on it and pulled her onto his lap wrapping his arms around her. Her back against his chest he tried to warm her with his body. He knew he was being forward by keeping her so close but he was done pretending he didn't want this. Lance disregarded the trail she had nodded to. He wouldn't mind walking back up and would even carry her if she wanted. As she dove into a story about them being together he smiled at the memory. Lance had even had a massive crush on her back then. He may have been with Rachel at the time but he had used her as a cover because Kennedy had reportedly been in love with Rodney.
"I'll never forget that," he interjected when she asked if he remembered the first time she made that jump. "I jumped only to show you that I would do anything for you. I may not have expressed my interest in you back then but even at that point Kenn I had fallen for you." He hoped she wouldn't take his words and twist them into a negative fashion. He wanted to be able to speak freely without worrying that they would be twisted in the wrong way. He laughed as she mentioned her scream that she had emitted when she had been falling, "Yeah i'm pretty sure the rest of the group was afraid you had caught the attention of the entire town." He joked as he remembered them freaking out because teens weren't supposed to be jumping off here. There had been signs put up that had deemed the spot dangerous and that it was only a view point. "Almost spitting water into my face? You did!," he laughed, "There I was trying to make sure you were okay cause you scared the shit out of me and you come up and spit water in my face!" He exclaimed while a smile stayed on his lips the entire time.
"Those were the good ol' days." He agreed with her as he thought back to the simpler times. That night Rachel had been sick and hadn't been able to come to the quarry with him. He had felt bad that she was sick but had come whenever he had heard Kennedy was going. He shrugged his shoulders as she mentioned their group, "I have no idea I lost contact with most. I think a few of them might still be in Pleasant attending the university but i'm not entirely sure." He missed that group though. They had been that group since middle school and morphed into the royalty group of the high school. Rachel had merely joined once she had gone out with Lance because she had been the new girl. He had been her ticket in and Kennedy seemed to have hated her since Rachel had stepped through the doors of Pleasant high.
"Yeah thanks for that by the way," he joked as she mentioned the cheer squad, "Rachel talked my ear off for a few weeks going on and on about being stuck on JV." He rolled his eyes as he thought about Rachel's constant complaining. He had secretly been happy that Kenn had kept her on JV though because then he would get to watch Kennedy without worrying that Rachel would see him at games. Also they would never have found that they had liked each other. They had called it lust at first but Lance had known he had had more feelings than lust for the blonde. He was pretty sure Kennedy had liked him at the time too just didn't want to admit it. Lance kept his arms wrapped around her in a protective fashion as he rested his head back against the rocks looking up at the night sky.

Swimming over to the submerged ledge and pulling herself up on it was easy, and it was as though her small frame fit perfectly against his as he pulled her close to him in his lap. Usually, especially more these days than others, she would fight and resist being this close to him, but at this moment she didn't bother to fight as she felt her shoulders sink into his chest as she rested her head on his shoulder just relaxed in this environment. It was as though the two had escaped reality somehow and they were in their own little word, but it was a nice change that she accepted with open arms. She was only brought back to reality when he started to talk about that night following her story about one of their past nights together. She too had been thankful that Lance's girlfriend had been sick that night, but Kenn still was lying to herself back then about her and Rodney and hadn't seen Lance in the same light she was seeing him in tonight. He had such a power about himself that could draw her in no matter the circumstances, and even tonight after the two had bickered she'd felt as though she'd let go and gave him the control of the night. "Yeah, I guess I did do that didn't I?" She asked with a slight laugh as she remembered very well him wiping the water from his face after she'd blown it from between her lips. She had to let out a faint giggle thinking back on that night, back when things were so much easier for the both of them, and yet they shouldn't have been easy. They should have been complicated considering both relationships entangled with ones on the side, and now should be the easier of the two times, and here Kenn was fighting and resisting him yet again. She was so confused and backwards it seemed, but could you blame her after everything her and Lance had been through?
Although Lance couldn't see her face as she had it tucked against his shoulder Kenn smirked as he spoke of Rachel being pissed at the fact Kenn pulled the right cards to keep her off of the varsity squad. She loved making Rachel's life miserable, and in the end Lance had been the perfect ticket for doing just that. Not that it had been the only reason that Kenn had started something with him in the first place, but she did have to admit that it had been one hell of a good reason behind a few certain actions. Those actions before she actually did start to care about him, and then Rachel completely left her mind and everything she'd done with Lance had been out of pure happiness. The smirk did drop from her face as she just sat there quietly looking out at the water, her hand wiping across her face to get the drops of water that had fallen from her hair over her eyes and nose, and she just contemplated what would happen when the two went out in public. Things were easy when they were just alone, the two of them with no eyes watching over their each and every move, but with the people who have nothing better to do than talk and gossip around the city what would happen if she were to appear with Lance somewhere? She couldn't very well just go into the city with him and hang out, go on a date or bring their child for a day out on the town could she? Could they do anything without the annoyance of those around them? What would happen if Rachel were to see them happy in public? Kenn wanted bad to get those thoughts out of her mind but she just couldn't, she sat there quietly just contemplating everything for a little while as she let her hand drop beneath the water as she moved it around in circles just above her leg watching the rippling of the water before it bounced against her stomach. This moment between them was too good to be true, could they ever lead a normal life together?
Kennedy knew that she should keep her mouth shut, she knew that when the two were having a good moment together they should not ruin it by opening their mouths, and yet here she was as she picked her head up from his shoulder to look him in the eye. "What happens tomorrow?" She asked as she looked at him. "What happens when we get in our cars and drive in different directions, and we wake up in the morning?" She asked softly adding on to her initial question. Would things just go back to how they normally were between the two of them? Bickering about everything and making up just to bicker once again after they were happy for those few brief moments? "Nothing ever just comes easy for us, you know that." She said knowing that the two had challenge after challenge that they had to keep working through. The sad thing was as she was sitting here with him peacefully Ryan hadn't even had crossed her mind, their son had slipped from her thoughts as they were more consumed with just the thought of the two of them back how they had used to be. Now that she was back into her somewhat right mind her son came flooding back into her mind, and she looked at Lance once more though this time stayed silent. She could see such traits in Lance that her son had possessed, he looked so identical to his father and Kenn couldn't have been any prouder of her son right now. She had only hoped he wouldn't make the same mistake Lance had, the whole dating one girl and sneaking around with another, but then again Kenn had messed up just as bad as Lance so it wasn't like she could judge him.
She had to clear her mind from everything that had been happening right now but she couldn't figure out what she could do. She looked back out at the water and thought of something that she could say, work being the first thing that came to mind so she had to run with it. "Things at the diner aren't so great." She said shaking her head as she looked at the water. "People just aren't tipping like they used to. I'll probably have to go job hunting for a second job, or maybe just a better one all together. Ever since Ava's expecting things have just been hectic around there, it's just not the best place to work." She said with a shrug as she thought more about it. Ava, Rachel's best friend, another person that Kenn never thought she'd like, and yet here she was working for the woman. Hell, Ava had even gone as far as to marry Kenn's ex boyfriend Blake, but that marriage obviously didn't last long and she'd moved on quickly, but still Kenn was a bit jaded thinking back on that short love. What ever happened to Blake anyway? She started to think about him as she sat there, just one of her own past relationships though nothing too serious considering they hadn't amounted to almost anything. He was nothing like Lance, again her thoughts filling of her and Lance throughout the years. "I want to spend more with with Ryan, the babysitter seems to be seeing more of him than I am these days." She hated getting called in for extra shifts, she'd think Ava would understand considering she too would have a child and would probably want to spend all of her time with that bundle of joy, but she couldn't put the blame on her considering she wasn't the one calling for extra staff. "I need a new job." She said simply, a slight shrug as she just smiled some looking out letting the water help her escape into another world yet again.

Lance listened to Kennedy knowing this was something they would have to discuss. She always brought up the hard questions and he was somewhat glad for that. He sighed, "Uhm well to be honest i'm pretty tired of the usual bickering that goes on," he laughed lightly as he took one hand and scratched the back of his head. "I doubt you enjoy it either," though they always found themselves in the position that they yelled at each other all the time. He really wasn't sure why they did it. "I know you said nothing could ever happen between us Kennedy but it's getting hard to deny my feelings for you. I can't help myself when i'm around you." He smirked and nodded as she said that nothing ever came easy for them, "You're telling me. Though I can't help to think that you're worth it and Ryan's worth it."
Lance ran his hands up and down her arms slowly. As she looked back at him he met her eye contact and never broke it. His eyes searched hers as a small smile remained on his lips. He couldn't even explain to her how he felt right now. This moment right now that they were sharing was what he was living for. He missed being able to hold this girl in his arms and talk to her without the constant worry of getting into an argument with her. They could make things easier if they truly wanted to but that was the problem.
He looked at her in a concerned manner as she spoke about her job. He didn't like the idea that she was working so much. She deserved to be able to be with their son instead of at the diner trying to give him financial support, "Well things at the studio are taking off. I think they are looking for a secretary. It pays a lot better and the hours would be less. I mean if you want." He shrugged his shoulders as he tried to help her. He wasn't sure if she would want to work in the same work place as him. He wouldn't mind it though because he would be able to see her more. He was ready to raise the white flag if it meant he would get more time with her and less arguing. "I'm willing to help you and Ryan out so you can have more time with him. I'm here for you Kennedy. I always will be." Her eyes had still been on him and he leaned in and pressed his lips against her forehead. It was an innocent move though he had been dying to kiss her lips. He restrained himself as he leaned back against the rock and kept his eyes on her.
