Addison dropped her daughter Hannah off at daycare, same as usual every single morning, and with that she got back in her car and started towards her work. She always made one pit stop though as she turned down Barlow Street and found a parking spot in one of the parking lots down the long stretch of road. She glanced at the clock on the cars dash before twisting the rear view mirror so she could see herself to make sure she'd looked presentable. She took one of her rubberbands from the middle console and pulled her hair back in a loose ponytail before she stepped out of the car. She reached back in to grab her purse and keys before pulling herself back out and shutting the door behind her. She pressed the button as she heard the click and honk signifying that her doors had been locked, and with that she stuffed her keys in her purse as she pulled it up to hang on her shoulder as she started down the road. Her shoes of choice today had been simple black sandals that were comfortable as she usually did a lot of running around in the office, and as she walked along the sidewalk she was thankful she hadn't dressed in heels. She waved at a few of the older people that were walking the morning streets, but her attention mostly stayed fixed infront of her as she kept watch for the shop to come into view. As she saw the large tiled font that read "Martha's" on one of the buildings ahead she picked up her step wanting that fresh brewed cup of coffee more and more as she walked. Most people around would settle for Starbucks and other coffee chains, but something about Martha's had kept her coming back year after year. If it wasn't for the coffee it'd be for the muffins, and if not those they made some amazing chocolate chip cookies. Everything about this shop had Addie enthralled, and finally making it to the door a huge grin on her face showed that emotion as she opened the door and stepped inside the air conditioning. She stepped up behind the people that'd formed a line by the register, and she patiently waited for her time at the counter. She could see the baked goods out of the corner of her eye so she turned her attention to them looking over her possible order. Seeing the muffins had her stomach rumbling as she put her palm on it hoping to silence the beast, but then again she'd been thankful it'd spoken up or she might have forgotten about her hunger and had to wait until lunch to eat something. It seemed foolish that she could forget that she'd been hungry, but having a daughter her mind was usually never fixated on herself so she could lose track of trivial things like that. When she did remember though she packed back the food, and some might even say they were surprised that she could stay so fit with the appetite that she has. She thanks her many trips to the gym for that one as well as the run she'd go for usually at night. With it finally her turn she gave the cashier her order, the coffee with an abundance of milk so it wasn't scorching hot as well as four packets of sugar to sweeten the brew, and of course she ordered a chocolate chip muffin and a blueberry one. Most would argue that those two never went together, but it's not like it was them who had to stomach it so she didn't listen. She watched as the cashier pulled up a tray and made her order, and after giving her the change she deserved Addie thanked her and picked the tray up as she walked to sit in one of the corner booths she'd been in so many times before. She had to laugh remembering some of the late nights during finals in school where her and Trevor would sit all night filling up on coffee just to get the final bit of studying in. She loved how the owners had even kept the place open past closing sometimes when they had been there. Part of her still missed the man, but she had to silence that part knowing it just wasn't for the best. She reached the corner booth and put her tray on the table as she slid into her seat and settled against the seat picking up her coffee and stirring it in her hands some. She looked at the muffins, her stomach giving another slow rumble, as she took a sip of her coffee letting the aroma whisk her off to some fantasy land for a second. She pulled apart one of the muffin tops and popped it into her mouth as she held the coffee in her hands and glanced out the window just to distract herself from being alone this morning. NOTES. sorry if this sucks, I wanted to get something up this morning before I left! I can pretty it up later at some point if you'd like! I wasn't sure where the two should meet up so I just threw her here!

all I want are windows, it wouldn't be the first time.
Trevor let out an annoyed sigh as he reached over and hit the 'off' button on his alarm clock, attempting to remember why he even set a friggen alarm in the first place. It was Saturday, he must have messed up his schedule somehow in order to set an alarm. He didn't have anything to do today, so that was weird. He laid in bed for a few seconds, and he ran his hand through his hair, letting his thoughts ponder around in his mind for a few moments. He could hear the sound of the cold rain hitting his window, and he couldn't get over how much he absolutely loved that sound. It was so soothing, and it always took him back to the memories of him and Addie laying in his bed cuddling, just listening to the rain. It was hard for Trevor to reflect on past memories. Sure, he was a jerk, but part of him still cared for Addie, and it wasn't hard to see it.
He really couldn't believe that he still cared for Addie after all this time. He didn't even know she was pregnant until they ran into each other. He asked if the baby could be his, and he was assured that it wasn't, a bit too quickly. He wasn't sure, but all in all, he believed her. Still, the two were together for five years, it's hard for Trevor to not have feelings for Addie after all this time. After they ran into each other, all the feelings that Trevor had been hiding, came rushing back. He wasn't sure why. She was still gorgeous in his eyes, even when she was pregnant. It kind of made him want the baby to be his, even though she said it wasn't...Wow, he still felt tied down, even though he wasn't, but right now, it felt like a different type of tied down. It was a type of tied down that he actually wanted...Or so, he thought.
Still thinking about Addie in the back of his mind, Trevor got up from his bed, and ruffled it around for a few seconds, before walking over to his closet. He picked out an outfit and took his boxers off, otherwise, his sleeping attire, and threw the piece of clothing into the hamper across the room. He walked into the bathroom and closed the door, and about twenty minutes had passed. He came out clean and shaved, with a black t-shirt on, a pair of jeans, and socks on his feet. He went back into his bedroom and dabbed on a bit of colonge, before grabbing his shoes, sitting down to put them on. Afterwards, he was finally ready, and the rain against his window had ceased, and a slight smile appeared across his face when he saw rays of sunshine beam into his room from the window.
Happy mood today. That was different for Trevor. His moods had always gotten the best of him, but today, it was cool. He didn't have any jerky comments or thoughts, he was just happy, and he wanted to keep the good attitude for a while. Maybe it was because he was still thinking about Addie. He hadn't gone this long with thinking about her, usually, by now, the thoughts of her would be gone. Sure, he was mad at himself for what he did to her, but he still has doubts that her daughter could be his. If she kept assuring him, he had to believe it, though. He wanted to find out the truth, he was sick of being left in the dark about something that was so serious. If Addie's daughter was his, he wouldn't be sure what to do, but on the other hand, he'd be mad that he didn't get the truth from Addie herself.
Trevor stuffed his wallet into his back pocket, and sighed as he picked up his phone. He checked it and saw that he didn't have any messages or anything, so the phone rested in the front pocket of his jeans, before he walked out of his bedroom, closing the door behind him. Now that the sun was out, he really didn't feel like driving, but he gets tired of walking, regardless of all he did for football, and all that he still does to keep himself in shape. He just didn't like driving for some odd reason, he never has. He grabbed his car keys, and walked out of the house, closing the door behind him. He made his way down the driveway and over to his grey truck, opening the door. He climbed in, slamming it behind him as he turned the car on, pondering on where he could go.
He was hungry, that was for sure. As he pulled out of his driveway and got onto the road, he looked around for somewhere to go. He pulled onto Barlow Street, and smiled slightly to himself when he saw Martha's Cofee Shop. Good, he could eat now, and get a coffee to help calm his raging thoughts down. He pulled into the parking lot and turned his truck off, grabbing the keys out of the ignition, before getting out of the car, shutting the door behind him. He put his keys into his pocket and grabbed his wallet, heading into the Coffee Shop. He closed the door slowly behind him as he made his way to the line of customers, looking around while he waited his turn to order what he wanted this morning.
While looking around, his breath caught in his throat when he saw Addie sitting in one of the corner booths. She still looked gorgeous, though, he wondered why she was here. In that booth, even. That was the booth the two of them had always favorited when they came here together, when they were together, for that matter. Sighing, he looked back ahead of him, and was soon at the counter. He ordered a black coffee, and a chocalate chip muffin. A few minutes later, when his order was complete, he handed the cashier a ten dollar bill and smiled at her to assure that she could keep the change. He couldn't help but look back at Addie as he turned to find a seat, and this time, he looked away when she looked back at him.
Looking down, wanting to avoid contact with his ex, Trevor took a seat at a table opposite from the booth that Addie was sitting in. He took off the cover from his coffee and sipped it, taking the muffin out of it's bag. He tore off the top and popped it into his mouth, taking another sip of his coffee, before looking back at Addison. He dropped his contact when she looked at him again, and he sighed, now probably looking like an idiot when he didn't say anything, or at least waved. For another time, he looked back at her, not knowing what to do or say at this moment, hoping she would do something first.

Addie hesitantly pulled her phone from her pocket and looked through the numbers until she'd found the daycare that her daughter had been at, and as she stared at the number she wanted to call just to make sure things were going smoothly but she restrained placing the phone a little way from her hand on the table. Daycare had only started for her a week or so ago, her parents had taken her in the past up to this point, but with her mother going back into nursing the pair just didn't have the time during the day. Yes, Addie was disappointed, but no she would not dwell on it and actually had found a daycare that had been within her price range. It seemed alright and her daughter came home happy at the end of the day, so in the end she figured that's all that mattered.
When her ex walked through the door she had been the first to see him as she watched him strut to the end of the line, a sigh escaping as she dropped her head to the table resting her forehead on the back of her hands not happy about the situation. It's not that she hated him, she could never hate the man who had been a big part of her life, but the way he just up and left her had downright upset her and she wasn't sure how she could come back from that. Just looking at his profile right now her thoughts flooded back into her system of the day he just up and left her, something along the lines of I just can't do this anymore, and adding insult to injury he'd stuck around the city so the pair could see each other often. She just wished he would have left town, at least that would have been a good excuse for leaving her, but seeing him around every now and then was just too much.
She picked her head up from her hands and looked up at the counter thankful that he had been gone, so she settled herself back in her seat and took another drink of her coffee as she picked up another bite of muffin. She glanced around taking in her surroundings, a smile starting to form on her face knowing she'd adverted disaster by him not seeing her, but as her eyes wandered opposite her she saw the familiar blonde sitting there with his gaze matching hers. Addie quickly turned her attention back to her muffin as she grabbed her phone and started to punch keys to make herself look busy, but the thing had neither rang and she had nobody to call so this was a useless distraction. He would of course realize that's all she'd been doing, distracting herself, so not wanting to look pathetic she put the phone back down and took another drink hoping the caffeine would calm her nerves, though coffee was hardly the drink to calm you down with the amount of caffeine in it.
She tried not to make it obvious as she peaked out the corner of her eye to look at him, and luckily he hadn't been looking back this time as she watched him take a bite to eat, though soon his eyes matched hers once more and she froze, her hand pulling up from the spot where it'd laid on the table as she waggled her fingers in a silent hello. It's not like she should just keep ignoring him, she was better than that she liked to think, so what could a hello hurt right? She wanted him to believe that she'd moved on, and avoiding him and freaking out when around him was not the best way to prove that, so as she caught his attention she waved him over offering up the seat across from her in the booth. If she could pretend to be civil and friendly he'd believe that her feelings had disappeared and they were strictly platonic now right?
She watched as he seemingly took her invitation and made his way to the booth, though as he sat across from her she had to admit that things felt a little weird with the two of them right here and now. "Hi," she hid her nerves from him as she looked down at the muffin he'd already started devouring from the other table. "How's the muffin?" She asked from her spot as she looked down at her two muffins, such a glutton she'd been today, but at least now that he was here it could be a double distraction. "I couldn't choose so I took them both." She looked back up and over at him sitting across from her and forced a smile on her face hoping he wouldn't see right through it.
"You look good, life treating you well?" She tried to make it sound like she'd been genuinely interested, though she actually had been since his life always fascinated her, and if she kept the topic on him she could ignore any and all questions that were directed at her. It was always better talking about him instead of her, especially with what she'd been keeping from everyone, but as she took another bite of muffin that feeling ached inside her that she'd been doing the wrong thing. It's not like she'd immediately blurt it out, and she did know that the feeling would pass when she no longer saw him, so for now she'd just have to stomach it until it'd disappear. It was easier said than done though as she tried to eat another bite of muffin but her appetite had been lost for the moment, though her thirst hadn't thankfully as she accepted yet another drink from her cup.

all I want are windows, it wouldn't be the first time.
Seeing his ex across from him made his feelings drift back more than they already began to when he walked into the coffee shop a few minutes ago. Sharing the couple of gazes with her only made it worse, and at this point, he just wanted to make nice. They were together for so long, it obviously was hard for the feelings that he had for her to just go away without some sort of real closure, not the small closure that he had given her the day he had left without any type of explanation. That day still killed him to this very day. He must've been stupid to up and leave her like that without just the little bit of explaining he honestly owed to her.
Trevor had just simply told her he couldn't do this anymore, otherwise, their relationship. To be completely honest, he could, he just felt so stressed out with his own family, that it made him want to be alone and single until he figured out what the hell was going on with them. The entire reason was because his dad was remarrying, and Trevor was not too keen on the person he picked to restart his life with. He felt that his dad's fiancee absolutely chose to pick on him and critisize whatever he had done just because she enjoyed it, and it put so much pressure on Trevor to change, just so she would like him. Ultimately, it didn't work, and Trevor felt stupid for doing what he did to Addie.
Just because of his stupid feelings about his dad, that he shouldn't even have cared about in the first place. At that point, though, after they had broken up, Trevor had left town to get his mind off of everything. His mind was cleared after quite a few days, but obviously, the changes and decisions he made weren't his best ones. Breaking his train of thought, Trevor caught Addie waving at him silently to show the sence of friendliness. He smiled at her in return, and saw her invite to join her at her booth. He picked up his coffee and his bag with the muffin on top of it, and he carefully made his way over to the booth. Situating himself, he put his bag down and took another bite of his muffin, popping it into his mouth as he placed his coffee down next to hers.
Now being face to face with his ex completely made him think about how much they had been through. Granted, he still cared about her, and he couldn't have that jerky personality that he had around everyone else, around her. He loved her, but played the field like he had moved on, to not make it so obvious. If they returned to speaking terms, it could have a good outcome, and Trevor would be very happy with that. Though, he wasn't going to force her into something that she wasn't comfortable with. He wasn't that type of person, though he may completely come off like it. Her small but subtle start to a conversation made him smile a little, but although she was trying to hide it, he could tell she was nervous about him being over here.
It was awkward. This was the first time they had been next to each other, let alone talking, in quite a long time. Trevor had mixed thoughts running through his mind, but Addie was still as gorgeous to him as she was when he first met her back in High School. As she continued to pull on the conversation, the smile played continiously across his lips. "The muffin is good, i'm starving, so just trying to get something in my stomach," He said, with a small chuckle. He hadn't ate anything all day, and his stomach was grumbling from the moment he got up from bed, he just need something. He looked away for a moment but retracted back to her, taking another sip of his coffee, letting out a small laugh when she said she couldn't choose what kind of muffin to get. "Well, it's okay. They're all good." He said. This was good, they were being civil, the only thing he wanted right now.
When she asked how he was and how life was treating him, he shrugged. Honestly, life was treating him good and it had been since he got back to Point Pleasant. He never understood why he even left town, and why it took him so long to get back. He looked at her. "I'm good..." He started, "Life is treating me well, I guess...I just got back into town about two weeks ago, so i'm just trying to get back into the swing of things, you know?" He asked her. It was the truth. He hadn't been around in so long, he had forgetten how his life had worked here, about where a lot of places were, what he had before he left, pretty much anything, and the thoughts were just kind of hard to think about.
Obviously, he had to ask how she was doing. He wanted to know how she was doing, deep down inside of him, and how her daughter was doing as well. When they had bumped into each other years ago, Addie was well into her third trimester and just about ready to go into labor. Besides asking if the baby could be his, he also asked what the gender was, and she replied by telling him that she was having a girl. "What about you?" Trevor asked Addie, seemingly interested in what she had to say. Looking at her, he could tell that she was contemplating on what to reply to his question, so he followed up with another one. "And, your daughter?" He asked.
"Last time I saw you, you were just about ready to have her...How old is she now?" He asked, watching her movements somewhat closely. He didn't want to seem like a creep, so he backed off a little, not wanting to make it obvious that he really wanted to know what was going on with his ex. Cautiously as he waited for her to answer, he took another bite of his muffin, and he picked up the cup of coffee that he had previously paid for, taking another sip of it. He let the taste linger on his tongue for a few minutes as he realized that Addie was really contemplating. He really hated seeing her like this, but had to figure that after not talking for so long, it was hard to try and talk to your ex after having such a discreet past. As a result of that, he began to figure that he wasn't going to get a detailed response, and he would be fine with whatever he recieved from his ex.

Addison, who had been relaxing and somewhat slacking her back against the seat, sat straight up as she straightened her posture just as he came and sat across from her. She pulled her coffee and food a little closer to her side of the table so he could have more space, not that there wasn't more than enough since it'd been a big booth, but still she was nervous and that's all she could think to do. Her remark about the muffin had been solely because she could not come up with anything else quick, and his response made this entire thing feel even more awkward as she heard him speak for the first time. She had known it would be awkward before she had motioned him over to the booth, but she wasn't sure how awkward until their conversations seemed forced. Back when they were together they could talk about anything and there wouldn't be an issue, but it seemed now even silly conversation about the muffin was strained and forced.
She knew their time in the same booth would drag on if she could not get on a subject that could pass the time, so when she asked how he'd been she thought that was the best option at a time like this. She hadn't been keeping many tabs on him, though she had heard from one of her friends that he'd disappeared for a while, but she'd never known exactly where he'd went, or what he'd done while he was there for that matter. "Getting back into the swing of things can be difficult sometimes, especially when you've been gone for so long." She hadn't known exactly how much time had lapsed since he'd left and came back, but she did know that her daughter had been already past the one mark and she hadn't seen him at all since she'd been pregnant so that was fairly long. She was unsure if she could, or should for that matter, ask him where he'd been all this time, but not seeing the harm as the two had been close for so long before she just went for it. "Where'd you run off to, you know if you don't mind sharing of course," she'd hoped that didn't come off as rude, but in the end running is what he did best as he'd ran from their perfectly fine relationship in her opinion.
Here she had thought she could have gotten him to talk a little more about himself, but instead as he'd flipped the question she sat there in silence for a moment wondering exactly what she should say to him. There were things that she wanted to tell him, how she'd been doing just fine on her own raising her daughter, their daughter, but instead she just shrugged as she took a sip of her coffee so she had an excuse to be quiet. Maybe he had forgotten about the baby all together, sure he'd seen her pregnant but that was over a year ago so it's not like it couldn't be forgotten right? Wrong, as he asked how the little girl had been she peaked her eyes up from the cup to gaze at him curious if he was being honest about wanting to know, or if he was just making conversation to do what she had been doing, push this encounter along. "I'm doing good, I finished my degree and am now working at the counseling center, it's actually where i'm heading in a little while," she looked around for a clock and found it situated on the wall thankful that she could have that escape when she needed it.
"Hannah is doing real great, I forgot you'd seen me when I was pregnant, good memory," she noted though of course had not forgot that day that the two had ran into each other just weeks before she gave birth. He had asked her if the baby had been his infront of a group of people, and having to be quick on her feet knowing he'd done the math she had to lie and say she cheated. She hated saying that since people thought it to be true, and that just was not the person that Addie was. She was not a cheater in the slightest, and it upset her even just thinking that people could see her as one, but it'd gotten him off her back so at least her little plan had worked. "She just had her first birthday a few weeks ago and she's already starting to stand up and stumble around, it's the cutest little thing." She laughed some remembering when her daughter pulled herself up on the coffee table and took those first steps out in the middle of the living room.
As she stopped laughing she took another bite of her muffin, the nerves slowly disappearing as she at least knew he'd remembered the pregnancy, but since he was still convinced he wasn't hers she was in the clearing she figured. "So if you left for so long what brought you back?" She asked curiously, that seemed like the next best question, "I mean there's not really much here after you've lived here your entire life, the city sort of loses that spark, you know?" She was unsure if that was true or not though, but she had to admit that there were some places around the city that she couldn't care that much about anymore after these two had broken up. Being together for so long the two had explored and found their own "spots" around the city where they were truly happy with one anothers company, so now that the relationship was over those spots only gave her bad memories so she avoided them at all costs. "If I had the chance to get out of here for good I would have taken it, but obviously sticking around my parents and brother are ideal with Hannah around." She did not want it to sound that the only thing keeping her in Pleasant had been her daughter, that was a burden those tiny little shoulders shouldn't have to bare, but if she hadn't had a daughter she probably would have been gone a while ago.
Taking another sip she felt like she had been talking entirely too much, so not wanting to let anything slip she distracted herself. Her coffee was a little more than half done and she could feel the heat starting to wear off, so she took another longer sip so she could finish it before it became cold and disguisting. She popped off another piece of muffin as she placed it in her mouth while her other hand fiddled with a napkin. "It's nice catching up wouldn't you agree?" She had to make it sound good as she sat there across from him, and plus if they were playing catch up now it's not like this had to happen again later. The two could go their seperate ways and neither would have to worry much about the other, at least they'd both think they were doing fine enough on their own. She picked up the last piece of one of her muffins as she could feel herself starting to get full as she looked at the other, "maybe I should save that one for later, I think my eyes were bigger than my stomach."

all I want are windows, it wouldn't be the first time.
Trevor watched as Addison's posture became more proper when he came over to join her. He sat down and sighed, sencing the tension between the two of them. He finished the last bite of his muffin and took a small sip of his remaining coffee, feeling the forcement in Addie's voice as she continued their conversation. Nodding, he looked at her when she mentioned that it was hard to get back into the swing of things when he had been gone for so long. Sure, he agreed with that, but in his mind, he had a good reason for leaving. He just wasn't so sure it'd be a good reason in Addie's mind. "Where did I run off to?" Trevor asked, looking up at Addie, with the same questioning in his voice.
He questioned in his mind that maybe he shouldn't say anything about where he had been for the past couple of years, but he felt that she did also need, and deserve the right to know where he was. For a few more seconds, Trevor remained silent, but his eyes once again met Addie's. "I...um....I went down to Miami to see my mother..." He figured it wasn't good to lie to his ex, so he told her the truth. He hadn't seen his mother in forever, and he took the oppurtunity to finally go and see her, because he still wanted to keep somewhat of a contact with her. "Things were rough at home, and I...I felt like I needed her." It was the truth. At that point, he did need his mom. Things weren't so good at all, and his mother promised she'd always be there.
Talking a little bit more should open up the gap between the two lost ex lovers, as Trevor hoped and thought. She wasn't too clued in on why he had left, the reason, at least. His stupid father had to get remarried, and put all that unneeded stress on Trevor. He knew that his father had a right to marry who he wanted, but his fiance wasn't the greatest person, and Trevor could tell it right off the bat. He felt like a complete asshole for leaving Addie like he did, but now, since they're together in the coffee shop right now, that things could smooth out just in the slightest bit between them. He smiled a little when she mentioned how she was doing, and where she was working now. He nodded, and gazed at her for a few seconds.
He couldn't believe something had possesed him to leave her in the first place. She was as gorgeous as she was before, now. He still did want to know the truth about Hannah though, which is why when Addie mentioned her, his face kind of lit up as his gaze continued to stay on her, completely focused now on the conversation they were having. "That's good..." Trevor started, slowly, listening to Addie as she continued to talk about Hannah. He smiled slightly bigger when she mentioned that Hannah had just turned one, and he thought about how much he was missing, when Addie revealed that Hannah was starting to stand. He let out a small breath and nodded, taking another small sip of his coffee to make it seem like he wasn't that invested.
"Hm...What brought me back..." Trevor poundered the possibilities of what could have brought him back, though he was dreading wanting to tell her the real reason he did come back. "I just...Missed being around here, I guess." He came up with the next best excuse, figuring it wasn't good to tell her just yet that he had came back for her, and to find out the truth about Hannah. "Yeah, I understand it does...But, it was just time for me to get back into the swing of things here, I missed knowing all the surrondings so well." Trevor said, shrugging his shoulders. He nodded once more when she again mentioned Hannah, causing him to chuckle lightly. "Yeah, that would be the best idea, wouldn't it?"
Trevor yawned lightly to himself and covered his mouth just in case, not wanting to be rude. It wasn't that he was bored because of Addison, he just woke up a bit too early, thanks to his stupid alarm clock. He had the finishing sip of his coffee, and laid the cup down on the table, where it had remained before, before his attention was once again back on Addison. "It is good catching up, I do agree," He said, with a small chuckle. He wasn't going to lie, it was good to see Addison after all this while. He wanted to get more in depth about things with Hannah, but he figured he could wait on that topic. He chuckled when Addie said that her eyes were bigger than her stomach, and he shrugged. "Yes, but you could never go without making sure you had enough. Every time we used to come here, you always got two muffins," He replied, playfully, clearly remincing on the past he had with the girl in front of him.

She had hoped that by asking him over it would be easy to forget the past and move on, perhaps even become friends with him once more, but as he came to sit across from her it just felt awkward as she knew it would. She was kidding herself if she thought she could move past what had happened so easily, but at least she had tried which was more than she had expected of herself. She heard his return question, pretty much the same exact thing that she had said, and her eyebrow shot up as curiousity held her hanging on for his next words. Something inside made it seem like he was searching for an answer that she'd prefer, but she hoped that it'd at least be the truth as he'd had no reason to lie to her.
The silence had been killing her as she took a sip of her drink hoping to distract herself, but that had even been silent so hadn't helped the situation at all. She drummed her knuckles on her lap quietly as she watched him process whatever was going through his mind, and although she'd been about to give up hope she couldn't help but smile as she heard an answer, but of course as she listened she tried to figure out if it'd been the truth or just some fabricated account of his past few years. She hadn't heard too much about his mother while the two were dating, so at first she thought it to be the biggest lie of them all, but his follow up statement had her think otherwise as her expression softened as she glanced down at the table looking at the muffin. She hated hearing that things were rough at home, but at the same time she figured she'd had it rough herself so could give him no sympathy.
She had been thankful when he'd brought up a question for her so the two could change the subject, families and stress at home were not really a topic she wanted to stay focused on, and figuring she should just come right out and tell him the truth as well she did just that. Her life had really came together since the two of them had split, though of course she had hoped that they would have been able to come to be the family her daughter deserved, but now she didn't see it as much of a problem that she should dwell on. She nodded as she carried on about their daughter, though as far as he'd been concerned it had just been her's at this time, and she could tell that it didn't really matter much what she was saying so she knew she should wrap it up soon. She forced herself to stop talking as she popped a piece of her muffin into her mouth to shut her up.
She thought that it'd been a good thing the questions seemed to shift back and forth, she'd ask him something and he'd follow up with something about her, so at least the conversation was moving along at a nice clip. It would have been far too awkward if they would have stalled on one subject for too long, especially one that involved their past together, but it did seem that both were sort of ignoring that topic so that was something to look forward to at least. "You actually miss something, and here I thought you were an emotionless stone," she made the remark without even thinking as she laughed, her eyes widening as she figured he would take that as an insult, especially since that is how she had it come across without even thinking. She wanted to immediately take it back but she just couldn't, not now that it'd been out in the open for all of them to hear.
She nodded trying to forget what she had just said, though it hadn't been easy as she hoped he wouldn't get too upset or else this entire meeting would end horribly, "it wasn't too hard to get back into the swing of things was it?" How in the world was she supposed to know? Her entire swing of things had changed so drastically in the past few years that maybe his had as well, and coming back had seemed much harder than she'd think it to be. Something had happened back at his home that had sent him for a whirl, but since she tried to avoid all things that had to do with that family she just couldn't put her finger on what that had been. "I'm sure your mother enjoyed the visit at least, that's a good thing." She took her work into consideration knowing that when you couldn't find anything to say it was always nice to state a positive, and then the conversation could move on from there hopefully.
She noticed the yawn, how could she not when he'd brought his hand up trying to cover it, and nodded as he agreed that it had been good to catch up. She tried to joke about her stomach as she glanced at the clock to see how much longer she had, though her attention was brought back to him as he made the statement about how she'd always gotten herself two muffins. She stared at him blankly for a moment not realizing that he'd still remembered that small fact about her, but soon it had her smiling as she glanced down at the delicious treats infront of her, "I guess you paid more attention than you let on huh?" She thought it cute that he'd known her order, but then again it probably wasn't that hard to figure out considering this had been one of their usual hangouts. She was unsure of what she should make out of the fact that he'd remembered something from their past together, but at the same time she wanted to know if there'd been other useless facts he could name off about her.
"I'm sorry for that stone comment I made earlier," she made the admission as it had been eating away at her as she sat here. "I guess I just wasn't thinking when I said it, you know me, i'm usually always saying something that I shouldn't be." She smiled faintly at him hoping that he hadn't been too upset, but then again she'd pretty much called him a rock so of course that should have bugged him.

all I want are windows, it wouldn't be the first time.
Of course Trevor would want to try and make mends with Addie after she had seemingly invited him over to sit with her. Though, he couldn't deny that it was very awkward to be sitting next to his ex of so long ago. As he asked her a question, he couldn't help but to chuckle when he noticed her eyebrow go up in waiting for him continue what he was going to say. No doubt, the thought of lying to her did come into mind, but he felt it really didn't have any use, so why even bother? He shrugged as he finished, and leaned back in his chair slightly to get himself comfortable, knowing that their conversation was going to carry on for more than just a little while.
The silence as he slowly pondered his own thoughts was killing him as much as he saw that it was killing her. He had nothing else to drink, so he quickly distracted himself by thinking he would probably go up to the counter and order another coffee, but for right now, he would probably hold that off until he found the proper time to tell Addie he was going to do so, and offer if she had wanted something else to also help mend their seemingly broken situation. Finally, he had given her the answer about his mother, and it was the truth, and nothing but. Addie had never heard much about Trevor's mother, but it was enough to know a bit about her and Trevor's past as mother and son.
Feeling slightly bad, maybe like he had brought her down from his previous statement about needed his mother, he let out a slight sigh, shrugging his shoulders. At this point, he was just happy that they could actually keep a stedy conversation, considering their past at all. Then, Trevor's look had took a one eighty when Addie mentioned that she thought he was an 'emotionless stone'. He had saw her eyes become wide almost immediently after making the unhearted statement, and his look returned to what it was before. He wasn't really in a place to say something to her right now about it, because he had to believe it or not, he was an emotionless stone for most of their relationship and he hated himself for it.
Getting away from the comment that had obviously hurt him, but he didn't take much attention to, Trevor looked up when Addie mentioned if it was that hard to get back into the swing of things, and he shrugged, obviously because he was about to give a mixed answer. "Well, yes and no, I guess..." Trevor started, looking at her for a few seconds, before beginning to speak again. "Yes, because I didn't really know how everyone, like my old friends, would look at me now, or if they'd even want to continue a friendship after I left for so long, and no, because I already knew where I was and I knew the surrondings. You know? He asked, finishing the answer to her question. He nodded when Addie said his mom must've loved the visit, and he chuckled. "Yeah, she did. She knows a lot about Hannah from what I told her."
Sure, he did tell his mom about Hannah. He and Addie bumped into each other, and then he left, so he figured that the topic would be something that his mother would want to hear about. He told her right when he got to her place to visit her, it was something he had to get off his chest right away, and though he had already knew that Hannah could of and was probably his, his mom had put the idea right back into his head, especially because Addie was just about to give birth to Hannah when they bumped into each other. "It was never anything bad...She did put an idea in my head, though. It's not anything to get mad over, but i've been thinking about it, too." He said.
That was the stupidest way to ease into what he wanted to ask her, but he couldn't think of any other way. He wanted her to admit that Hannah was his, instead of him automatically thinking that she was. It was a great possibility, and at first, Trevor was against even thinking about it. Though, now, he wasn't sure if he would still be against it, but he just wanted to know for the sake of it. Trevor chuckled after he finished his statement of her always getting two muffins when they used to study together years ago during their relationship, and he shrugged. "I guess so. I've always been like that," He said, hoping to get the subject away from what he had just said. He was sure it probably wouldn't work at all, because all the thoughts were probably swirling around in Addie's mind, and he felt stupid for putting the thoughts there.
Mentally slapping himself for bringing up Hannah again, he sighed as he stared at Addie's gazing eyes that were focused on him. It seemed like she didn't have much a facial expression, and he didn't blame her, because she was probably thinking why he'd ask such a question about something so delicate like her daughter...Or, their daughter, if she had decided to just let the truth out. He just didn't feel right after saying that, and his own look had changed because he felt like a jackass for saying something, when their conversation seemed to be going good for just seeing each other after a few years.
Hoping she wasn't so mad, he just continued to look at her, knowing there wasn't much else he could do. Finally, she had apologized for the comment she made earlier about him being a stone, and he shrugged again for what seemed the one hundredth time. "It's fine," He said, "I was thinking about it earlier, and honestly, I don't really blame you. I was like that for a good portion of our relationship, so I can't really be mad at you for it." Trevor finished. That really was the truth, he had been such a jerk, and though he doesn't see that part of him changing, being like that with Addie was and probably always will be something he wished he could back in time for and change.
