Lily was putting the groceries in the fridge. The fridge had been empty for days, but Lily had come into some money. How she would never admit to anybody, and finally got some groceries. She didn't know why she bought stuff for herself and her parents. She hated them, and they hated her just as much. But she did. She balled the plastic bag together and threw it in the trash. Just as she did her mother came into the kitchen, drunk as ever and looked at her daughter. "Who are you?" the women asked, Lily just rolled her eyes. "I'm your daughter you idiot." She said, trying to get around her mother, but she was blocking the door. "I have no daughter..I have no children. What are you trying to steal!?" Before Lily could even open her mouth to argue with her mother she had grabbed her and forced her up against the fridge.
Normally Lily could over power her mother, but today she had seemed to get strength out of nowhere. "Hey get off me you crazy bitch!" Lily screamed pushing her mother off her. That only got her a punch right to the face. She could feel the area where her mother's fist had impacted just where he cheek bone and her eye met start to burn hot as the blood rushed to it. Her mother dug through her pockets, and Lily pushed her hands out of the way, trying to block her from the pocket she kept her money in. But no such luck, Audette Collins pulled the little bundle of money out of her pocket, and counted it. There wasn't much there, just the change that she had left from what she took out for groceries but it was around fifty dollars. "You little thief, stealing my hard earned money!" she barked at Lily, and Lily she laughed and rolled her eyes. "Your hard earned money? What the fuck do you do except sit on your fat fucking ass all day and drink?" She remarked back, which only earned her another punch to the face.
Lily Summoned all of her strength and gave her mother a great shove, knocking her backwards on her ass. She didn't care about the money anymore. It was obvious that her mother was going through of her violent drinking days. She ran around her, leaving the money behind and ran to her room. Her mother wasn't far behind her, but Lily managed to get to the room before she did, and slammed her door shut behind her, locking both all three dead bolts that she had. Insuring that her mother wouldn't gain quick entry into her room. "Bob we gotta get out of her." Lily said to her ferret as she passed his cage. She had gotten the ferret shortly after Ryland had moved out of the house. She had been so lonely without him, she needed someone to keep her company and talk to so she wouldn't be completely alone. Lily ran around her room shoving all the cloths she could fit into her backpack along with her laptop, its charger and her phone charger. She went into her closet and got out Bob's little maroon carrier. She put his food inside and strapped his water bottle to the outside. All the while she could hear her mother pounding, and throwing herself against the door, trying to gain access to the room.
Lily quickly opened the door to the Bob's cage and put him into his carrier. Then she closed it, and put it out the window. Luckily she her room was located on the first floor of the house. It made it easier for getting in and out. She then threw on a simple black Hoody put the hood up and put her back pack on her back and crawled out the window herself. She closed the window before picking Bob's carrier up off the ground and ran away from the house. At first she didn't know where she was running to. She took the cell phone out of her back pants pocket and looked at the time. She didn't know where to go, Allie was working or in class she couldn't remember which. She didn't want to bother her brother, she was sure he was busy. But she didn't know what else to do. So she pulled up a new text message on her phone, and sent him a text that said 'I need you, meet me at the dog park...please come I love you' and send.
When she turned the screen off on her phone she could see the bruises on her face. She shook her head and put the back in her jeans pocket and ran to the dog park. Lily used to go here all the time when she was younger, she would sit on the benches and watch people play with their dogs, imagining what it would be like to have one. She would spend hours there until Ry would come find her and bring her home. It was one of the only places that she ever really felt safe. When she reached the dog park, she slowed down from running to a speed walk. Keeping her hood up so no one would see her face. She went over to one of the picnic tables and set Bob's carrier on top and sat next to it. She knew that bob must be scared, he obviously couldn't tell what's going on. Plus there were lots of big dogs barking and running around. she felt bad for bringing him here but what could she do. She couldn't have just left him there.
She never left him there unless she went to school. She took Bob almost everywhere she went out of fear that she would come home and find the house burned down, and her poor friend Bob dead. She didn't really care much if her parents were dead sometimes she wished they were. Lily dug through her back pack and took out the little package of treats that she had just bought him at the pet store and took a couple out. She pushed them through the holes on the carrier and fed them to him. Hoping that they would make him feel a little better. Hopefully he would. Now she just had to play the waiting game and hope that Ry would come to her rescue. She hated bothering him. She knew that he had his own things to do. He wasn't living at the house anymore, he shouldn't be taking care of her like this, she needed to take care of herself. And she was trying, she was able to make money on her own, not that she would admit to Ry how she was doing it he would be furious with her. She thought about texting him back, and telling to forget about it. But she wasn't sure if he would even have listened anyway. Her guilt was starting to eat her alive again.

Its really good to hear you voice(SAYING MY NAME) Ryland woke up to the sound of his phone playing linoleum by nofx which was his ringtone for everything on his phone because to be honest he was lazier than hell when it came to his phone. Sleeping off what probably was a long night but as he pulled himself out of bed saw no signs of anyone else coming home with him which was good. He looked at his text messages to see that his little sister Lilith had texted him. He hadn’t even planned on waking up until his sister’s text got to him reading the text I need you, meet me at the dog park… please come I love you. Ry wasn’t one that turned his back on his little sister ever so getting off of his bed at his apartment he went looking for the closest set of reasonably clean clothing. Finding jeans and a random t-shirt that he wasn’t sure was clean but it would have to do. Smelling it quickly to make sure it didn’t smell like it was molding or gross and when it didn’t he pulled it on and then smelled his jeans before putting them on as well.
Ry then went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth it was about the only thing he did in the bathroom mostly because he had that feeling like he had thrown up at some point during the night and needed his teeth to feel not so grimy. Running his hands through his hair just to make it look somewhat less like he had just woke up because his sister wouldn’t need an excuse to make this about him. He went out to the main room of his apartment and found the two things he needed his wallet and his keys. Checking his wallet he still had forty dollars in there which was good he and Lil would probably need to eat that morning if Lil had done what he thought she had done. He was glad that he opted to pay the extra rent to get a two bedroom place to that Lilith would have a place to stay when their parents forgot about them. Drunken idiots they were. Ry didn’t care to go to his parents house and when he did it was for Lilith’s sake not theirs. He didn’t even acknowledge them anymore and that was that.
Slipping on a pair of flip flops Ry headed out his door locking it like always and shoving everything into his pockets. Ryland was glad that he lived close to the Dog Park that he could walk the short two blocks it took to get there. It was another reason he’d chosen the apartment he did because it was right near Lilith’s safe spot and that was what was the best for her. So if she ever wasn’t at home at night she had somewhere safe to go. He’d never turn away his baby sister. He’d been known to even carry her there a few times when she was being too stubborn to want to go with him. But she always felt better after she’d been with him for a day or so and he never turned away Bob either. That weird little creature his sister adored but because she adored it he just kind of took a whatever kind of attitude to the creature. He was more of a dog fan himself especially bull dogs but that was just how he was. Ry got over to the dog park and found his sister sitting with Bob.
Ryland went over to her glad that she wasn’t too badly harmed from a distance and that she could actually get herself out of the house. Ryland would apply for custody of his sister if that wouldn’t be weird as hell. But she needed out of that situation he couldn’t just leave her there. Getting closer to her he saw what looked like the start of several angry bruises on her face. Getting close enough to reach out and touch her he put his hand on her chin and raised her head to him looking at the bruises that were forming on his baby sister’s face. Looking at her closely he determined none of them were serious or even deadly just really painful. ”So which one of them am I killing Lily pad” said Ryland his blue eyes still grazing over the bruises making sure there was nothing that he had missed. He didn’t like seeing his sister in any kind of pain. It meant getting her out of the situation as soon as possible if at all possible which he was sure he could do. He would have to do some research and probably get his life together before Lilith could permanently have her live with him for now she was just there when the abuse was really bad and above ignoring her.

Lily signed as she waited for Ryland to show up. She felt guilty for having called him. She knew that he had his own things to do, and his own life to live. He had given up so much of his life to take care of her, she was almost eighteen years old she needed to be able to stand on her own two feet and start taking care of herself. She needed to stop relying on her brother to help get her out of trouble all the time. She seriously wanted to just call him and tell him that everything was fine, it had only been a false alarm. But she figured that he wouldn't believe her anyway and would come looking for her. So she knew that she just had to sit here and deal with it.
When he got there she looked up at him as he lifted her chin up to access the damage that was done to her face. She sighed looking at him. "I was putting groceries in the fridge, and mom attacked me cause she thought I was trying steal her money." She laughed, knowing that the notion of their parents having any money to steal was a hilarious one at that. She shook her head. She pushed herself off the table and wrapped her arms around her big brother tight, burying her face in his chest. He stunk like he needed a shower, and like he possibly might have been partying the night before, but she didn't really care. She just wanted to hug him and never let him go.
"Can I please come live with you Ry?" She asked looking up at him, with a pleading look on her face. "No one will have to know, I promise I'll be quite and I won't make a peep...you wont even know I'm there and when you and Allie need the apartment to yourselves I'll go somewhere and do whatever until your done, and I'll get a job and help out with the bills." She hugged him again, after her long rant, feeling bad for begging her brother to let her come live with him, but not wanting to go back to that house again. "I promise I won't be any trouble, you won't even know I'm there. I just can't go back there...that evil women is going to kill me one of these days." she hugged him tighter. "I'll clean, I'll do laundry, I'll cook. I promise"
She knew that she shouldn't be imposing on her brother like this. He had his own life to life, he had a girlfriend. Sure Lily was friends with Allie, but that didn't mean that Allie wanted her hanging around all the time. Plus she knew that with Lily being there Ry might not be able to do as much partying or drugs as he might want to. But she was hoping, praying that he would just let her stay with him. Its not like it mattered anymore for school purposes either because she was just about to graduate, plus living with her brother even though he was on drugs sometimes was so much safer than living with her parents. Ryland never hurt her, her parents did. It was a smarter safer choice.
