personality: How to even begin. Alex is a very unique young man. He is the kid you see at parties, either dancing on the couch or cracking jokes with a group of friends. He’s just about the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet. He's a mix of a drama geek, a jock and a prep rolled into one. He’s incredibly musical, and carries his guitar around everywhere. He loves to joke around, loves to pull pranks. Around his friends, he's a big goofball. Around girls, he's a marshmallow. He'll be the perfect gentleman, bringing flowers or a teddy bear or something to a date and things like that.
It takes a lot to upset him, but it is possible. Normally he'll just overlook any bad comments. If he does get upset, he'll just be abnormally quiet for a few days. He's not a person who likes to talk about being upset. He’d rather just hole up on his own for a week, work through whatever made him upset, and then come out the other side as his happy, obnoxious self. He’s also the type of guy who will do just about any dare you tell him to. The only thing he won’t do is strip naked, other than that it’s fair game.

history: Alex was born on October 31, with his twin, Allison. They were the third and fourth children in their family, with one older brother, and one older sister. Alex was healthy at birth, and unlike his twin, he tended to be a bit more of a handful. They shared the same ability to sleep through most of the night, but Alex found everything else an opportunity to get into trouble. Which earned his first hospital visit when he got into the utensil drawer and ended up whacking himself in the head with a big wooden spoon. He wasn't as quick to get up and walking around like Allie, but he was the one to wander everyone and stick his nose where it didn't belong, his cognitive development just started early.
His childhood was fairly pleasant, when he wasn't getting in trouble. The Beaumont family was lower middle class, and they always had enough to be comfortable and happy. Of course, they had their ups and downs, but nearly every family has that. His older siblings tried their best to be good examples for the twins, and Alex is still very appreciative of that. He never really paid attention to it when he was younger, and had more fun just being himself and being the loving goofball we know now. He was usually the one to be shoved into detention too for pulling pranks on either classmates or the teachers. He never did anything dangerous to people though, it was all harmless. Like putting a whoopie cushion on someone's seat, or writing silly things on the board.
Alex had a pretty good time in high school. He was voted class clown nearly every year, and he owned the title. He found it the best way to deal with the hell of high school. He was the VIP on the Varsity soccer team, and was well known for doing fancy tricks whenever he was one the field. He was big in the music program as well, and always participated in any school talent show. He got his first guitar when he was sixteen, and played it so much that during the first year, he had to replace strings about five times because he broke them all from playing so hard. He stayed close to his twin of course, and was always there to be her pillow if either of them had a bad day. He didn't like when anyone pushed her around, because she was very nearly an extension of himself.
They graduated with high honors, and parted ways, more or less. Allie did the responsible thing, and went to college to get a degree. Alex debated going, but found that he wanted to take a few years off to focus on what he really wanted to do; music. He knew that he could easily have enrolled in a good music school. But he wanted the entire experience of being a struggling musician and everything that went with it. He did have a job at a local club, that gave him free gigs if he wanted them, so he is still very much able to support himself in his own apartment. He keeps in close contact with his twin, as well as the rest of the family, and tries his best to make everyone proud doing what he loves for a living.[/ul]

The little hand on the clock touched over the twelve, making the time four in the evening. Best time of the day. It meant being able to get out of work and go do something fun for a change. Officer Austin S. Hopkins was thinking that exact thing as he finished filing a couple things for his cases. It hadn't been on overly busy day, but he was still tired nonetheless. And getting out of the office and back to home was all he could think of at that moment. He looked up as a co-worker walked over, knowing what the guy was going to say immediately. "Sorry mate, can't do it today. I did overtime the past few nights, I need a break." He paused for a couple seconds, rubbing one of his hands over his short blonde hair. "Ask Thompson. He's got off easy all week."
He stood up from his chair, the equipment on his belt jingling lightly. He picked up the rest of the files he needed to look over that night, sticking them into his briefcase. Sometimes it felt surreal having an office type job. His nights were usually spent drinking and playing music with his buddies. Not arresting people for speeding. He waved goodbye to a couple other co-workers as he walked outside of the station and over to his car. Nimble fingers pressed the button to unlock the car doors, and opening them. He tossed his briefcase into the passenger seat before getting in behind the wheel. He turned the key in the ignition, putting the car into drive and pulled out of the parking lot. The other nice thing about getting out at four? The roads were more or less clear for that hour. He didn't get caught up in any rush hour traffic.
Austin tapped his fingers against the steering wheel to the beat of the music coming out of the CD player. Music was all he could think of when he wasn't at the station. It was just something he put his heart and soul into every chance he got. Why else would he have made his band with Sam and the Davis boys? Exactly. He turned into the parking lot for his apartment, finding a spot and putting the car in park before turning off the engine. He grabbed his briefcase, and got out of the car, walking up to the building. He fished his keys out of his pocket, and made his way inside and up the stairs to his room. He unlocked the door, walking into the room and placing his things on the side table near the door. Time to get out of the uniform. He wanted to do something though, other than lying around the house.
He walked to his bedroom, stripping out of his uniform and placing it in a bag to get dry cleaned. He chuckled as he felt something fuzzy rub up against his legs. "Hello Marv.. miss me?" He picked up the fluffy orange and white cat, nuzzling it. He didn't care who saw him being cuddly with his pet. He loved the little fuzzball. He set the cat down on his bed as he turned to look for some clothes. He grabbed a pair of swimming trunks from one of his drawers, tugging them up over his hips. Going for a swim sounded really good. He slid his feet into a pair of sandals, tugging a random shirt from his closet over his head. He gave Marvin another affection pet before walking back out to the main room to grab his phone and keys. He also grabbed a towel out of the hall closet. Couldn't walk back soaking wet now right?
Austin made sure he had everything he needed before walking back out of the apartment and locking the door behind him. He decided to walk down to the beach instead of driving, and he hummed under his breath as he did so. He definitely needed some time to get out and relax. He reached the beach in a matter of minutes, finding a spot to put his things and pulling off his t-shirt. He was aware of some of the looks he drew. He worked hard to make his body fit, and he had to be in good shape to be a good officer. But not a lot of them had a big star tattoo on their chest either. He sat down on his towel, leaning back on his hands as he looked around. Some other people seemed to have the same idea as he did. Not that he could blame them. It felt good to get off his feet and be out in the nice warm sun.
