He knew what she was saying was true but he just didn't want to let it be. When Jack moved to Pleasant, he stayed because of her. Ava was always a constant in his life even when everything seemed like shit. "So what, you find something else to fill the void?" He asked her.

"Not yet." She replied honestly, thinking there had been too many voids lately to fill. Not talking to Blake caused her to push herself harder at the Orchid..not seeing Jack or her other friends that had been busy lately caused her to do the same..or read. She was still doing that at least. "Any suggestions?" she said jokingly.

"Learn to read brail and teach me?" He suggested with a small laugh as he tried to glance over in her direction. "Maybe you need to experience something you never thought you would or travel somewhere to get that edge back and get on the path again..thats what i did." He told her.

Travel..that sounded nice..just get away from everything and everyone that was bugging her. "I could.." she replied thinking about it some more. Where would she go? She didn't know. She shrugged, eating some more. "I don't know.."

"I just always pictured you down in the trenches like christiana amanpour or something but you know.." He said tappering off not knowing what else to say to complete the sentence. The pills started to kick in a few minutes later. "It's amazing isn't it..I mean back in high school I wouldn't even have been able to imagine a life like this for myself. If it were the old me I'd be long gone by now and whenever I think about that I hardly regret a thing i've done since then. I mean, I can't really explain it but I don't know." He said with a sigh.

Ava thought about it too and nodded. "Yeah its hard to imagine we went from there to here.." she replied. It was hard to believe that in a period of three and a bit years she'd come this far..starting a bar with Jack, getting married..It was all so weird to her. The weirder part was there was still lots more to come.

"You kow I still get that urge to leave and not come back to this place,not to new york but somewhere far away. I just n did life become an episode of Dawson's Creek." He said leaning back against the headboard and looking up at the ceiling.

Ava laughed at the Dawson's Creek part. She then shrugged. "It's not like it's boring here though...I mean we have as much drama as the next place.." she replied, thinking about it then thinking about what her life would be like if he left..lonely, definitely. "Where would you go?" she asked him, curiously.

" Don't know maybe somewhere in the woods, i've always wanted to be the reclusive writer who hid in a cabin in the woods where every three years he'd put out the next great american novel...great dream huh?" He said with a smirk.

Ava laughed a little, but nodded too. It sounded good...maybe a little too isolated for her, but Jack had always been pretty solitary..at least, she saw him that way. Not in a lonely way, more a serene way. "How very Kerouac of you.." she teased, drinking some more of her water.

He smiled at her comment until he started to think about things he couldn't do now that he had this latest injury. Even if they were to heal and he could once more be able to see, there would still be a chance he wont be back a hundred precent.

Ava watched his smile turn and sighed. So much for cheering him up. Unable to think about what to do, she simply rested her head on his shoulder. "I don't know what to do anymore.." she said simply. No, she meant more than how to make him happy though..She meant with her life. For some reason, it seemed meaningless.

He was silenced from her comment, for the first time he didn't know what to say to her. " I get that way sometimes- most of the time." He said thinking he should back it up with something adviceful, if that was even a word, but he couldn't think of anything.

Sighing again, she nodded against his shoulder and just stared up at the ceiling as she got lost in her own thoughts. Maybe in some sense, she expected the answers to just come to her..but they didn't and she soon after, looked away and back at him. "If you could see anything in the world, right now, what would it be?" she asked him curiously..not sure what she was getting at by asking it.

"You" He said without any hesitation. He didn't want to say it though it was true, he just didn't wanna lie at the moment. If he could look away he would but he just looked straight ahead.
