Autumn waved to her uncle after she got out of the car and shut the door. She liked living with her uncle, Gryff loved him, she smiled as he waved at him too. "Come on, Gryffie, lets go to the swings." She laughed as he squealed in delight, he always loved the swings.
She looked around then saw some baby swings, "There they are.." She mumbled to herself. She took a deep breath then walked to the swings. The sun was bright so after she placed him in the swing Autumn got into his baby bag and brought out a hat then placed it on his head. She also put one of his blankets in the swing to make sure he didn't get hurt. "Ready, Gryffie?" She watched as he giggled before she gently pushed him.

"Come on babe," Kennedy said as she hunched over to hold onto her sons hand as he bounced across the grass heading towards the playground. The park had been her sons favorite place in all of Point Pleasant so she tried to bring him there as much as possible. Of course there were times when work wouldn't allow it, she'd get off shift when it'd be dark out and too late to let him play, so whenever she had some time off this was the first place she thought of going.
"What do you want to do first?" Kenn asked looking down at her eighteen month old who looked ready to run towards the swings, but since she had a good grip he just tried pulling her in that direction. "Okay, okay, we'll go to the swings. Hold your horses little man." She laughed a bit dragging the diaper bag behind her back trying to stay with her son who seemed more than excited to be there.
When they reached the swing Kennedy swung the bag down so it landed on the grass behind the set, and her son in some overalls and a blue undershirt held his hands up so she'd pick him up into the swing. Of course she did and stood infront of him as she grabbed the ropes to push him just gently. He let out a scream of delight as Kenn just laughed, she loved seeing her boy this happy.
She looked around though wondering what other parents had been around, and that is when she noticed a young girl pushing a little boy on the swing just down from her. "Hey there," Kenn said with a friendly smile looking back at Ryan wanting to watch him so he didn't do something and end up falling out of the swing (though that seemed impossible the way they were built).

Autumn stopped pushing her son after he had pulled off his hat. "Hi." She replied to the other girl. She sighed as she took the hat from her son then placed it back on his head, "Come on, Gryffie, you have to hear it, the sun is too bright today." She was practically begging her son to wear it. She sighed as he pulled it off and threw it, "Just like your dad.." She muttered as she picked up the hat then placed it in his diaper bag. She looked back at her son and smiled a bit as she saw he was kicking his legs trying to move the swing. He just couldn't stay mad at him, especially when he was wearing his blue teddy bear shirt with his powder white shorts and blue sandals.

Kennedy had watched the interaction between the girl and the little boy and at first thought that the two could be brother and sister, but the way the girl had been talking to him he had to be her son. After she said 'just like your dad' kenn knew that the young girl had to be the mother. She couldn't help but think about how hard it had been for her when she'd first had her son, she was all alone and had noone to help take care of him with her, but this girl seemed to be doing a great job so she figured there was someone around helping her out.
"The best hats to get are the drawstring ones where you can just tie it on." She spoke trying to give the girl some advice, but she was sure she'd already known that. Ryan had hated wearing hats too so Kenn had put sunscreen on before they'd came out today so his sensitive skin wouldn't burn. Even with the drawstring hats though Ryan seemed more interested in sucking on the ends of the strings than anything, and once he'd gotten them soggy enough to slip apart he'd pull his hat off and toss it to the ground. It was a battle that kenn could never win so she'd stopped trying.
"He's gotta be around maybe 20 months or so?" She asked keeping up a conversation unsure of if that was even what the other girl had wanted. Kenn didn't want to seem annoying though so she gave her own son another push, him letting out another squeal looking up at his mom with that goofish little toothy grin of his. "Mo, mo!" He said, his word for 'more' so Kenn gave him another little push (nothing too high though).

"Thanks, he normally wears his hats but I guess today is a day where he decides he doesn't want to wear one." She gently started pushing her son again, she chuckled a bit at the age the older girl had said. "No, he's two, just turned two when we moved here, that was two Mondays ago. But I get that allot, last year everyone thought he was just two months old when he was really a one year old."
"I'm Autumn by the way and this is my son, Gryff. I was in the Harry Potter fanatic stage when I had him and Gryffindor was my favorite house in the books. Though I liked Gryff better then the whole Gryffindor." Autumn smiled has Gryff squealed and put his arms out like he was flying. "Mommy! I Ooperman!" He squealed using his word for 'Superman', he could say Superman but he called himself Ooperman.

Her eyes widened at the girls comment about how young they had thought he looked when he'd been already a year. For someone to mistake him as a two month old it must have meant that he had been very time. "Was he a premie?" She asked not thinking before she'd opened her mouth, so she hoped that hadn't been asking for too much information. Ryan was a good sized boy for his age, not too big but not small either, but sometimes she wished he'd stay smaller so she'd get to keep him in some of the cute clothing she'd gotten for him. It seemed like a waste of money to buy really cute clothing for a baby who would get to wear it only a few times before they'd outgrow it, but still Kenn would end up buying the cuter outfits she'd seen around the city.
"Nice to meet you Autumn," Kenn said with a grin looking from the girl to her son Gryff as he started to talk. She couldn't help but laugh at how cute his words had came out and couldn't wait until her own son would talk like that. "I'm Kennedy and this would be by big man Ryan." The boy waved as Kenn bent down to ask him to say hi to the other girl. "Huh," He said inbetween motions of his hand, he hadn't gotten the 'hi' down perfect yet. "I read I think the first two books, but after that with Ryan around I had no time so I just settle for seeing the movies when they come out." She said in reference about the Harry Potter books.

Autumn nodded, "Yeah he was born early, the doctors told me that it was normal for someone my age to have premature babies. At least the first one." She looked down at Gryff, "Gryffie, say hi." Gryff looked at Kennedy then he waved then he looked at Autumn, "Mommy, I not Gryff I Ooperman." Autumn couldn't help but smile at him, she looked at Ryan. "He's adorable. Gryff.. I mean Ooperman," Autumn looked back at her own son smiling, "can say Superman, but he calls himself Ooperman because he likes to pretend he is Superman's side kick."

Kenn nodded wanting to ask her age but knowing that'd be getting too personal, but the girl didn't seem to be a young mother. Kenn was actually impressed at how good she was with her little boy. "Well early or not he's cuter than a button." She said, that being a comment she heard a lot of older woman say when referring to babies, and she just loved how cute it had sounded. She laughed when the boy had told his mother he was Ooperman, babies were just so cute to Kenn, but maybe that was just because she'd had one now and had known how fun and exciting they were. "Isn't it great that they can look up to someone even at such a young age?" She asked looking at her own son giving him another push as he wiggled in his seat trying to get a better view of the boy close to him. "Let's just hope he doesn't jump off something thinking he can fly like Superman." She had seen a lot of kids do that in TV shows and such, it was cute until they'd hit the ground and started to cry. "Hello Ooperman." Kenn said looking down at the boy with such a grin, talking to babies brightened her day.

"That's what scares me, but my uncle keeps a close eye on him while I'm at school." Autumn said as she gentle pushed her son to move the swing a little. "But I'm sure that as long as he doesn't see the movies and just the cartoons he wont try anything like that." She always said that mainly just to reassure herself. She looked down at Gryff and stopped the swing as she saw he had his arms up, reaching for her. "Hungy, Mommy."
"Ok, little man, snack time." She said as she bent down and picked him up out of the swing. She looked around and saw a bench nearby. "He gets hungry at strange times, normally he will play for hours before getting hungry." She sat him on the ground but kept one of his hands in hers. She bent down then got into her baby bag for his baby carrots, after she got one out and started to hand it to him he shook his head. "Remember, sweetie, Superman eats these to get strong. You don't want to let him down do you? He needs you to be good and strong if you want to be Ooperman." His eyes lit up then he took the baby carrot and sucked on it as Autumn lifted him up.

Kenn knew exactly what fear she had been talking about right now, the constant fear that her child could get hurt at any moment, and now that he was walking it seemed the danger was all the more real. Kenn would give anything to go back to when he was just laying around relying on her for everything, and now she could even keep him still if she tried (which she did with toys and treats), and he was always running and tripping over things falling to the ground, so she'd think he'd learn his lesson because he'd pout a little, but quicker than anything he'd get back up and would go right back at whatever he was doing. "I know exactly how you feel."
She listened to the girl interact with the boy as she fed him a carrot, Ryan hadn't been quite ready for them but he did love squishy warm cooked ones. When he saw the little boy eating he wanted something, of course, so he started saying "eat, eat" so of course Kenn grabbed her diaper bag and pulled out some raisins. Her son had loved those as a treat, and she gave him a few as he stayed in the swing rocking slightly back and forth completely content with his new treat. "So will he do anything if you say superman does?" She asked curiously.

"Yes, it's the only way I can get him to eat what's good for him. And it's only because my uncle started telling him that." Autumn shook her head, sometimes she wished he hadn't started saying it. "I'm just glad something works to get him to eat right." She picked up her bag then got Gryff's blanket and walked to the swing next to the other little boy. "How old is yours? He looks to be about a year or so?" She asked as she placed her bag on the ground, she then sat her son in the swing. She had to let go of him to fix the blanket and she prayed he wouldn't fall.

Kenn wished she had someone else to help her take care of Ryan, things seemed so hard for her when she'd been the only one doing them, so listening to the girl made Kenn feel a bit bad inside. She didn't mind though in the end, he at least had one person that looked for him, and a good portion of her paycheck went to the nanny that had spent a lot of time with her son too. She was lucky to have that girl to help, she loved the boy as though he were her little brother, and seeing the interaction between Ryan and the nanny made it all the better.
"Year and a half actually," She said correcting her with a grin looking at Ryan who was reaching towards the other boy. "Boi, boi" He kept saying showing his mother the baby that was beside them. Kennedy just nodded looking down at her son trying to say 'boy' to him so he could sound it out better, but it was no use Ryan wasn't ready to say the exact word for boy yet. "He hasn't gotten his speech down perfect yet, but we're working on it."

"Yeah, it took Gryff a while to learn how to say 'uncle' he still can't say it right, he says 'unca' he gets the 'unc' right but the rest he doesn't get. So when he wants my uncle Rodrick he says 'Unca Roadick'." Autumn said smiling as she watched her son finally bite the carrot. She lost her smile a bit as she thought of his father and how much Gryff looked like him. She bit her lower lip as she thought about how she thought she loved him even though he was abusive.
Jeff had always fooled her into thinking he was going to stop by being romantic afterwords. She was deep into her thoughts and memories so she didn't know what was happening in reality.

"The doctors all say that his speech is fine, they tell me that each kid learns at their own pace, so that makes me feel better." She laughed some when the girl had told her what Gryff calls his uncle. "That has got to be the cutest name." She said with a chuckle looking down at the boy finally taking the first bite of carrot. "Glad you're off the canned food?" She asked thinking back to how much it had cost her when he was on formula, and then the small jar foods were just as expensive when he would eat an entire one with just one meal. She was glad now that he could eat just about anything that she could things were a lot cheaper, thank the lord.
When she stopped talking Kenn looked at the girls face, she seemed lost in thought about something that didn't look pleasing, so of course Kenn was curious and had to ask. "Something on your mind?" She wondered if the girl had been in the same kind of situation that she had been in, single mother with a worthless father, though in the end Lance wasn't entirely worthless, he could be a good father if he had just been around throughout their sons life, and didn't think that a check each month would be all he needed to do.

Autumn shook her head to bringing herself back to earth, "Just thinking about my ex..." She mumbled as she looked at her son. "He looks so much like him." She looked at the ground as she rubbed her arm, she was scared that he would come after her to take her son from her. "He was so horrible to me..." She hadn't talked about him since she moved.
