There wasn't a lot to do these days since she wasn't at the paper anymore, school was slowing down and calling Rachel wasn't an option after their little fight at the general store where Ava had basically said she disapproved of Rachel's boyfriend since he'd hurt her in the past and felt he should be with the mother of his child. That was what was right to her and she didn't understand how Rachel felt otherwise. Okay, so she was a little conservative in her family values, but she'd been raised that way. She was also a feminist and believed in equal rights.
Anyways, as I was saying, there wasn't a lot for Ava to do, so she'd been spending a lot of time thinking about her future. Her future with Jack and the baby and also her professional future. She hadn't told anyone, not even Jack out of fear that things wouldn't turn out, but she'd been applying to all sorts of internships at papers all over the US, mostly in New York and just outside of Florida. Something inside told her that it was time for a big change in her life and getting out of Pleasant felt right. She wondered how Jack would feel about it...if she even got a job, though.
She'd been checking her cell's voicemail, her email and the mailbox for weeks hoping for something after sending out about 40 portfolios, with no answer...until today. She'd been asked to start in 8 months at a newspaper in Tampa. It was a great offer, and though it was the first, she was seriously considering it. What if she didn't get anything else? Sitting by the laptop, she stared at the email from the editor, wondering what to do.
((Hmmm...will Jack freak out?))

Jack, always the early riser had been at the diner since six in the morning. For a guy with such a rough schedule he was always wide awake when need be although always rough around the edges. Today had been a particularly hard day with one of the stove tops in the kitchen went out and stopped working. He tried everything from the pilot light to the russian technique, giving it a swift kick till something fell off. From there it had mostly been a busy day on the customer side but slow on the service, which always frustrated Jack. He headed home with a migraine instead of going straight to the bar to set up for the night. He sighed deeply as he walked through the front door and immediately head into the living room. He dropped his keys on the coffee table and laid down on the couch resting his arm over his face to block out the light. "Ava?" He called out, muffled by his position on the couch.

Hearing keys in the door, Ava closed her laptop and stood, heading over to the fridge to get a drink. She knew that it was Jack coming home and she wasn't ready to tell him yet about the job offer. She grabbed a bottle of water and closed the fridge again, hearing Jack call her name. "In here!" she called from the kitchen, opening her water and taking a drink. She wasn't a big water person, but it would have to do. 'Some people' were convinced that she didn't drink enough of the stuff and refused to buy much of anything else. Boo.
She waited for him to come in, but he wasn't. Slightly confused, she walked to his voice in the living room and saw him laying on the couch. She laughed a little, at his hand over his face. "Come on. Today couldn't have been that bad..." she said, not believing it, though she knew it was definitely possible. "And even if it was, you got to come home to me, which means that it just got better." she added after, teasingly.

"Bread guy sucked, customers sucked, oven breaking down during the lunch rush sucked...you know i've really been thinking about burning the place down and collecting on the insurance...but the whole place is a condemnable pile of crap that even the insurance company wont put anything down for it." He said in a huff. He was really starting to feel that itch he used to get when things got bad and he would ditch. Not wasn't a time to be having thoughts like that though..not now when everything was perfect. He moved his arm just enough so he could look over at her, "Maybe just a little better." He said a bit sheepishly.

"Okay, so maybe it was pretty crappy.." Ava said after listening, walking over and taking a seat on the couch beside him. She frowned a little. Whereas Ava was, for the most part, carefree about things, her husband had a way of taking on more than he could handle and letting the stress get to him. It was something she did her best to help out with, but there was only so much that he let her take out of his hands. "But I refuse to believe that you aren't completely ecstatic about coming home to me and "baby that has yet to be named or genderized" And yes, I know that's not word..." She smirked, leaning against the arm of the chair and bringing her knees as close to her chest as they would go.

“ I love coming home to you and baby no name. “ He told her with a smile as he sat up a bit, resting back on his elbows. “I’m just tired of working all day and having no time to see you or to even shave.” He told her as he ran a hand over his unshaven scruff. He was happy for the most part except when he thought to hard of what his everyday was becoming. He was turning into his uncle, a pure workaholic in the most observable way.

"Hmm yeah we need to do something about that shaving part..." Ava joked, smirking at him before laughing a little. She shrugged before looking at him. "Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked, getting uncomfortable with the way she was sitting and stretching her legs out onto the coffee table in front of her. Much better.
OOC: not a lot to work with...sorry.

He laid back down once more and covered his face in the crook of his arm once again and sighed deeply, "Nope, not in your state darlin' " He told her with a small trying smile. He closed his eyes which began to burn from the strain all day. It was these sort of long days in which he really missed spending time in the back room of the bar. He had to go to the bar and had put it off to come home and take a shower. If he wasn't there, the bar wouldn't open and then that would mean less tips and no money for the night. He looked up and over at Ava and smiled at her sweetly, "I'm just cranky." He mumbled. OOC: I know, sorry, im tired

ooc: it's all good..no worries. pretty busy myself since the bf is visiting me until tonight and I have my school orientation tomorrow..ees
"Geez, I'm not dying.." Ava joked, before shaking her head. "I was just saying that if you need me too I could call someone or something to help you...I mean Becca called the other day and is back for a bit, so she could take some shifts or I mean I could call the newspaper and publish a hiring ad for students or ..I don't know, just...something." She offered, unsure. Her own job offer came flooding into her mind, and her thoughts trailed off. How would she be able to take he job in another city when they had two full time businesses here?

"I can handle it, i'm just tired of it..It's complicated. I love the bar and diner but its not where I thought I'd be, you know what I mean?" He said trying to form his words very carefully. He loved having the bar, a place of his own, but the diner was to much and took up way to much time and effort. The business was good and money was coming in but where he was now, wasn't in the original plan. But then again his plans had changed ever since he got to pleasant in the first place.

Ava laughed a little, then nodded. "In some bizarre way, I do..." she replied, jokingly, but a little serious too. She'd never expected to be twice married and pregnant all before graduating college, but there she was. Would she change that if she could, though? Maybe somedays, but what was the point in regrets or wishing for another life? There she was living this one and so far it wasn't so bad. She had the man of her dreams and was all in all, pretty happy.
She wasn't sure what possessed her, but somewhere in the silence that followed she blurted out "I got a job offer!"

He didn’t want to sound like a downer and immeadiatly regreted saying it. He couldn’t be happier with the way his life had come together, if he had his way it would have been a total wreck and he probably would have ended up in the same place but without Ava. He rubbed his face, trying to wake himself up to be more attentive, and sat up as he looked over at her with a smile, “That’s good baby, what kind of job?” He asked her as he turned and sat against the arm of the couch.

She didn't mean for it to come out like she didn't care about what he was saying, but realized that by changing the subject, it had sort of come out that way. She hoped he hadn't cared. "It's not anything too special..well, I mean, it sort of is but...It's an internship, so just entry level stuff, which would mean that my hours would be pretty flexible and ..." She bit her lip, wondering if now was the time to tell him. "..it's in Tampa." She paused, waiting for a reaction and spoke again. "I know moving would be a pain, but so far it's the only paper that's even expressed interest and it wouldn't be for another 8 months, so we'd have time to get things settled at the diner and the Orchid.."

He was quiet for a while as he thought it over in his head, “Tampa, that’s far…” He told her. When she said she was offered a job he was thinking it was going to be much more local, he hadn’t realized that she was looking for anything further. He knew that it would be a hassle but it was a job, an internship at least that would lead Ava in the direction she had been trying to go in since he met her. He couldn’t picture her doing anything else and would hate himself if she had put it aside for anything. His dreams and goals for himself had been lost a long time ago, now all he wanted to do was make sure she got hers, “You want the job?” He asked without much hesitation as he looked over at her.

((Bored so decided to go on this again Haha, it's before baby Chris! Wow.))) Okay, she was worried. Very worried. She could hear the hesitation in his voice as he thought it over, knowing that he wanted the best for her, but also that his whole life was there in Point Pleasant. In all honesty, she hadn't planned on ever leaving town either, but what opportunities did staying leave for her career? She supposed she could always go into teaching... literature or even journalism, maybe even at a college level, but she was still young. She wanted to live, she wanted adventure and the excitement of chasing a lead she'd found. She didn't want to have to have to make the choice between her family and her passion. His question wasn't hard to answer. She nodded, hopeful. "Yeah, I do." she said, looking around a moment. She was afraid to look at him, knowing she'd be able to know his answer just by looking at him. She'd been with him so long that things like that were easy. What if he said no? What then?
