Friends (Furry and Not) - Rachel!!!!

Ava had been meaning to talk to Rachel for days now, but with Jack's sister in town and school, she'd just not had the time...so Rachel was still in the dark about her spur of the moment wedding to Jack. Did she even know that Blake was back in town? It seemed like the two's friendship had drifted over the last few months, mostly just life taking them in different directions, but Ava missed the girl. She wondered if she was still with Lance or not.

So she'd decided to call Rachel and had left a message saying she was taking Prince to the dog park. She hoped she'd show.

Throwing a tennis ball, she watched the eager Jack Russell chase after it, and sat down on the grass.

Rachel had received Ava's message when she was on a redeye flight, coming home to visit her family for a few days. Rachel now lived in New York and opened her own clothing store. She was a fashion desiger and most of the clothes in her store were her design. She lived with Lance, her husband to be in an apartment in the upper east side. She had been living in New York for about a year when she decided to come home. Work had slowed down a bit and she decided now was a good a time as any to come home and visit the people she loved. She was especially excitied to see her best friend Ava, she hadn't seen in in so long and she really missed her. She walked into the park, wearing black skinny jeans, black boots and a long sleeve purple t-shirt with a vest over it. She spotted Ava in the distance and smiled. "Hey girlie!" she yelled out, wondering if she'd hear her. She continued to make her way over to her.

Leave it to Rachel Miles to make the dog park into a runway show! That wasn't to say she didn't look fabulous, but Rachel was definitely more stylish than a lot of Point Pleasant locals or former locals. At least compared to Ava's faded and semi-ripped jeans and black t-shirt. Seeing her friend, though she couldn't help, but smile. "Hey!" she called back as Prince came over with his ball and Ava threw it again. "It's been so long! How are you? How is Lance?" she asked, throwing out a million questions at once.

When Rach got close enough to Ava she smiled and gave her friend a tight hug. She laughed once Ava started with the questions. "Whoah, slow down.. i'm good, Lance is good.. everything great! How are you? I missed you!" she said with a grin. She bent down and petted Prince when he came back over. She looked back at Ava and smiled, it was nice to see that things hadn't changed too much. Her friend still looked pretty much the same, of course she was still beautiful.

Ava hugged her back and laughed. "Sorry, guess I'm just excited to see you." she said, still smiling. She listened as Rachel answered her questions, then replied "I'm good.." she said, not knowing where to start. If only Rachel knew just how much things had changed..."Divorced.." she said. "..and married too." She didn't add yet what she'd talked to Jack about only the night before. She would, just not yet.

"What?" Rach asked shocked. The last time they had spoken she was still married. Rach was utterly confused. "Spill!" she demanded with a smirk, leading her friend over to a nearby bench and sitting down. She crossed her legs and turned to Ava, waiting for her to talk. Rach had big news as well, but she would wait for a bit before telling Ava.

Ava followed Rachel, laughing a little as they sat. "Um, there isn't a lot to say I guess..Things with Blake, I don't know..changed. He left. I started seeing Jack, thought I was divorced, Jack proposed, we went to elope and..Blake showed up at the church somehow." Still confused about that part, she kept talking. "But he left and yeah, we're married." Ava couldn't help but smile at the thought. "It's been about two weeks now."

"Wow, i'm truely shocked, how come you never told me any of this? There is such a thing as a phone" Rach said with a smirk. She felt a bit sad to have missed out on all of this, but then again it's hard when you live far away. She had probably missed out on alot of things, she felt like life went by so fast sometimes. Rach looked at Ava and smiled. "Well, as long as you're happy!" she said, since really in the end that was all that mattered.

Ava laughed again. "Right because 'hey hun. guess what? I got divorced and then remarried after my ex burst into the church' is really a good telephone conversation." She said, and then, there it was again. Sickness. Ava was getting sick of this and she still had months to go. Ugh. She took a breath, letting Rachel talk as she took a bottle of water from her bag and had a sip. Much better. "So where is Lance?" she asked. "Please say he came too."

Rach laughed at Ava's remark and watched as she took a sip of water. She frowned before responding to her question. "Nope, he couldn't make it this time.. but hopefully next visit, either way you'll see him soon enough.." she said with a smile. Her wedding was in a few months and she couldn't wait for all her out of town friends and family to come to New York. She was truely excitied for her wedding, though it felt like her and Lance had been married for years as it was. "Listen, i have something to ask you.." she started, looking up at Ava with an excitied grin.

When Rachel said that Lance wasn't there, Ava frowned too. She still couldn't believe it, but they (her and him) had managed to put the whole cheating on Rachel thing aside over the years and repair their friendship. Okay, so most of their talking was through Rachel, but Ava still considered him a friend. "Shoot." she replied when Rachel said she had something to ask. She took another drink.

Rach smiled. "Well i know we lost touch a bit over the past year, and i blame myself for that.. it was really busy and all, but i'm sorry for not calling and visiting much. Anyways one of my good friends from New York, Michelle was supposed to be my made of honour but she can't anymore.. because.. well it's a long story, but anyways, i would love it if you could do it. I should have asked you from the beginning. So.. anyways, what do you say?" she asked with a smile, hoping Ava would agree.

"Yes, of course!" Ava immediately said, but then her nausea came again and she was reminded of something. Well, since they were both sharing news. "I mean, I would love to....if the dress can be altered many, many times. I...just found out that I'm pregnant." She laughed a little. "It wasn't planned or anything, but I'm really happy about it. I just told Jack last night."

Rach smiled and was thrilled that Ava said yes. When she told her she was pregnant, she laughed. There really were no more surprises. "Wow, that's amazing, congrats" she said, pulling Ava in for another hug. She looked down at Ava's stomach and smiled. She couldn't believe she was having a baby. That was so exciting! "How far along are you?" she asked, she couldn't have been that far since Rach couldn't see a difference in her tummy yet.

"Thanks." Ava said, hugging her back and laughing again. It was all still so surreal. But knowing Jack was by her side made her confident in her ability to do this. They'd do it together, one step at a time. They parted and Ava replied to Rachel's question. "Like a month and a half." she said to her friend. "It's so funny, I've been so busy with the paper and school and all that and I thought I was just late because of stress, but I took a test anyways and yeah. I couldn't believe it, so I went to the doctors to be sure...after taking like 10 tests."
