Lance did take her laugh to what he had said as an insult. Almost immediately Lance was standing up as far away from her as possible. He hurt by what she had said. How dare she judge him as a person. He had matured he wasn't the same guy he had been back in high school and he knew that. He had made sure of it. Therefore he knew he couldn't do anything with Kennedy not now or soon. He would end things with Rachel and take the single life for as long as he could before even thinking of Kennedy as a possibility. He leaned against a wall in one of the back corners from the bed. He crossed his arms over his chest and his put one leg over the other as he put his complete support on the wall he was leaning on. He laughed a bit at how he had let her affect him. She probably would look at him like he was crazy for randomly laughing, but he couldn't help it. He didn't need this not now. He was tired of being poked and prodded at as if he didn't have any emotions. He breathed a bit before responding to anything she had said to him making sure he knew he was calm. He looked over at her and shook his head, "You don't know the first thing about me," he put that out there simply, "I didn't pop the question as odd as that seems since i've always been into tradition." He said looking down at the ground as he rested his head against the wall.
"Rachel had been throwing the idea out for a few days and I kinda went along with it thinking it would happen wayy later down the road. Though one night we were eating and she looked over at me and she smiled...." He said a smile coming to his lips, "...and she asked me plain as day 'Lance Wright will you marry me?' I was shocked. I couldn't speak. I think I said yes because I had been caught up in the moment. I've been skeptical about this marriage since the beginning. I just haven't had the guts to say anything to Rachel. Though I know now I can't continue this. I can't." He said nodding his head as he knew what he had to do now. "And the way it's supposed to be is that I marry a girl whom I love and she loves me back. There is no one sided-ness as there is in my relationship with Rachel. You're supposed to wake up and look at the person lying next to you and think how could I be so lucky? That's how it is supposed to be." He said stating his beliefs firmly. That's what he had felt with Kennedy even if he had known it had been wrong. "And yes it was stupid of me to say yes but you didn't know the circumstances and don't try and say you understand because you don't." He said pointing a finger at Kennedy. He was tired of her high and mighty act that she knew everything about his life because she didn't.
"Since we had gotten back together she had asked that I stay away from you...to not be alone with you. She knew if I wanted to go see my son I would be alone with you...So I respected her wishes as dumb as it was." He said sighing in his stupidity. "I've done stupid things I admit that and I want to change that...." He laughed as she said it seemed like he needed Rachel's permission. He laughed at her ignorance, "Permission? Seriously? No, I don't need her permission. Do you see me standing here talking to you? Yeah I didn't need her permission for that now did I? No, I was taking her feelings into account you know like a true human being should? I'm not some damn robot Kennedy. You act like I don't feel like I can just go about doing whatever and nothing effects me. And if that is what you truly believe you don't know me. Despite what you may say or think." He said flat out. He wasn't going to let her walk all over him. He had feelings too and she had just been disregarding that the entire time he had been talking to her though he had been careful in what he said as to not upset her.
Though he nodded at her next statement, "And I respect your wishes i'll wait until you feel comfortable for me to meet Ryan. I don't want to just barge in after eighteen months and be like hey i'm your dad. No, i'll let you do it on your terms and i'll follow them." He said knowing it could get frustrating at times to follow Kennedy's terms, but he would do it. He had to. He smiled as she mentioned him helping Ryan to be good at sports, "I think I could definitely help him out with sports." He said glad to know he would be able to share that time with him when he grew up. He wanted to be able to see his son play sports or do whatever he wanted truthfully. He was ready to support him in whatever he chose when he grew up. Though if he played basketball or anything Lance had he would take pride in helping to teach his son.
Lance was a bit hurt by her nothing can happen between them speech but he knew that was probably just Kennedy putting up her strong front so he would go along with it for now. "Fine. Nothing can happen between us." He said flat out shrugging his shoulders and pushing out his bottom lip as if to say hey no big deal. This was a lie but he would have to put on the show for Kennedy. He couldn't have her thinking he was just doing this to get back with her because even if that was partly true it wouldn't help his cause to be back in his son's life. "You know I don't even care if you don't believe i'm committed I figured that would be how it was. I will just have to show you and i'm willing to do it. Again Kenn, believe me or not I know I can do this and i'm going to do this. I'm going to be a good father and hopefully with time you will agree with me." He said simply as that was truly how he felt. He didn't care what Kenn thought because he knew she wasn't going to believe him right now. He knew time was gonna be his advantage. As long as he kept to his promises and showed commitment time would become his best friend in this situation.
Lance walked back over to the bed and took the empty can from her, "No problem." He walked over to the trash can and tossed it in. He then went back to the arm chair hesitantly and sat down. Knowing he had been standing across the room during all of that, but he knew he had calmed down and the insult from earlier had slipped from his mind. He didn't rest his elbows on the edge of the bed though. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest and rested his head back against the head rest comfortably.

He was talking about the proposal and Kennedy couldn't help but turn away, she didn't want to see that smile come across his lips as he spoke about Rachel, and especially not wanting to hear about how the engagement had came into play. She closed her eyes trying to ignore him, but it wasn't working, so instead she just turned her head and looked away staring at the wall now waiting for him to be done. She had a rush of jealousy run through her body when he had spoken, Rachel had accepted what he had done and stayed with him no matter what, and had even asked him to marry her, and yet Kennedy had nothing after this entire thing. Well, she did have a son who she cherished, but as for loved ones she had nobody. Kennedy had personally thought she'd been the one happy in the end, and yet Rachel had this man almost ready to marry her. "I don't," she said with a quick shrug not bothering to look at him. "I don't understand what you saw in her in the first place." She snapped that last comment back somewhat harshly, but that girl was just unbelievable and Kennedy couldn't stand her, but she knew that the feeling had been mutual and Rachel wasn't too satisfied with kenn either.
"That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard," She said thinking about Rachel telling Lance to stay away from Kennedy, and in return he'd ended up staying away from their son as well. "Yeah cause our encounter was so expected and all," She said rolling her eyes still not being able to look at him. She could feel a small teardrop fall from her eye and crash on the bed, so she was lucky that she'd been facing away from him so he wouldn't had seen. When he'd started talking about her feelings she brought her hands up to rest underneath her cheek getting more comfortable, the hand with the IV not having anything resting on it, the doctors just wanted to make sure she had enough fluids in her before she would be discharged after a later exam. "A real human being should take into consideration the mother of his childs feelings when it comes to her wanting him to be there for their son, I seem to recall you saying something along the lines of i'll always be there for you and i'm not going anywhere back when I first found out I was pregnant. Wow, look how well you managed to hold up to your end of the bargain." She let another tear fall from the corner of her eyes, the fact she'd been crying was making her gorgeous blues stained with bloodshot red, so she couldn't look at him soon.
She listened to him coming back into his childs life and couldn't say anything, hearing him talk about wanting to be with Ryan hurt her even more than anything else they had spoke about. She loved her son more than anything and would love his father back in his life, but she knew that there would be a lot of things to work out between Kenn and Lance in order to feel comfortable around one another, and Kenn had no idea how she'd get things worked out between the two of them. When she heard him say they just could never be together she took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as another stray tear fell and hit her pillow. She honestly didn't know what she had wanted anymore, this just all still felt like a dream to her, so again she just stayed silent for a minute not wanting him to hear a crackle in her voice from her crying. "I guess so," She kept her comment short and sweet hoping she'd hit the fact well that she had been crying. She couldn't say too much to him right now, she was just too emotional and had to take a moment to get herself together before facing him again.
Why had this happened to her tonight? She was doing so good juggling her and Ryan's life to make it easier for her to handle, and then he walks into the same damn hotel she'd been at? She shouldn't have been there in the first place, she shouldn't have let her son spend the night at her aunts without her being there. She shouldn't have taken the luxury of the hotel over the small overcrowded living room at her aunts, but she remembered her aunt telling her that she needed a break and to get out for the night. She could blame this entire thing on her aunt, but she knew she wouldn't. She took one more deep breath clearing her throat somewhat not wanting to say anything, not being able to say anything actually.

Lance looked over at her as she snapped out that she didn't know what he had seen in Rachel in the first place. Lance could have answered that but he doubted Kennedy really wanted to hear the response. Kennedy hadn't wanted to be with Lance. He couldn't take the rejection and went to Rachel. Not to say he hadn't truly loved Rachel in the beginning because he had. His feelings for her had faded though and he knew that now. As he looked at Kennedy's blue eyes he felt his stomach flop. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes willing the feeling to go away. He didn't need this right now. He had said what he wanted to say and now he wanted to get back to the hotel and sleep. He was tired of hearing the wrongs of whatever he had said from her. He was done talking because it seemed almost pointless in his eyes. He sighed as he kept his eyes closed because it was just comfortable. He was ready for sleep but he would wait for Kennedy to be discharged so he could get them a cab and they could part ways....for now. "You know what Kennedy I don't want to talk about Rachel or argue with you anymore and since I can't seem to say anything right what's the point of talking?" He asked sitting up in his chair and finally opening his eyes to look at her even though she had looked away from him. He felt a wind of relief wash over him as she finally agreed with him in something. He felt so much better though he had noticed she had been looking away from him for a little to long. He wanted to reach over and pull her chin towards him so he could look into those brilliant blue eyes, but he couldn't find it in himself to do so. "You okay Kenn?" He asked quietly leaning forward on the bed putting his elbows back on there near her legs. He looked at her and anyone could have seen the genuine concern on his face. No matter how angry he got with Kennedy he always had a soft spot for her. Her feelings almost came before his even now. He didn't want to reach out and touch her until he knew it would be ok. He knew it wouldn't be ok tonight or the next night. It would be a long time until he would be able to embrace her again. He just hoped he could skip over time and be a good dad and have Kennedy back in his life. He knew the last part was a reach. The chances of Kennedy letting him back in her life as more than a friend or anything like that were slim. This disappointed him some but he had learned to expect it. (Sorry had to shorten it I have a headache and it's not going away )

When he had asked if she were okay she just nodded, wiping away a stray tear that'd made way down her nose, and she just lay there silently for a few minutes. She heard a knock at the door as the doctor had entered carrying a discharge paper that Lance would have to sign. He'd walked over to check Kennedy out, all of her stats seemed to stay normal the entire time she'd been there, and the IV had helped get the fluids back into her body that she said she had lacked. He did tell her to be careful with the bump though, saying she might want to stay with someone for the night. She just nodded, she would have to end up going to her aunts house because she couldn't ask Lance, could she? He insisted she check in with her usual doctor in a few days just to follow-up why she'd been there tonight, so of course Kenn agreed knowing that she wanted to get out of there so she'd do what it took.
A nurse came into the room as she helped take the IV out of Kennedy and sit her up, and she had an ice-pack she wanted Kenn to keep on the bump until she'd gotten back home, or back to the hotel considering Kenn wasn't going home tonight. She also gave Kennedy a prescription that she could pick up the next day, it was too late to go to the store tonight and Kenn just wanted to get into bed and relax, so Kenn took the piece of paper from the girl and folded it up before realizing she had no pockets, she had still just been in her sweats and shirt. "Uh, think you could hold onto this for me?" She asked cautiously looking over at Lance.
The nurse wheeled in a chair not wanting Kenn to walk just yet, so she helped Kenn out of her bed and into the chair, and pointed towards Lance for if he'd wanted to take the handles and push her out towards the parking lot. Kenn would be able to walk once they got outside, but for safety measures they never had someone that had just passed out walk on their on inside the building. Seemed sort of stupid because at least inside if she'd fallen someone would have been there to catch her, and once outside she had the risk of falling and cracking her head on the pavement.
"Ready to get out of here?" She said, sounding happy so the nurse and doctors wouldn't know they had been fighting earlier, and that he had been the reason she'd been rushed there in the first place. She knew she was happy to get out of there, she could imagine herself in that nice hotel cushioned bed cuddling into the extra pillows they give you falling asleep in relaxed tranquility, but then it snapped back to her that she shouldn't be alone. That had sucked considering she'd spent the money for the entire night in the room, so she'd at least want to sleep there because she wouldn't be able to get her money back. She let out a soft sigh as she placed the ice-pack on the back of her head relaxing in the chair waiting to be pushed.

Lance knew she wasn't ok but he wasn't going to pry. He would let her come to him when she wanted to and was ready. For now he would just let the girl go about her business. He didn't have the right to be nosy after just now coming back into her life. He leaned back in the chair as the doctor came in and he put a smile on his face as the doctor looked in his direction. Lance took the pen and paper from the doctor and looked over it quickly before signing it and handing it back looking over at Kennedy and watching as the doctor and nurses made sure she was ok. He hoped she was and by the looks of it she seemed much better from earlier. He stood up and moved out of the way as they brought a wheelchair in the room.
Lance nodded and silently took the paper from her and placed it in his back pocket hoping Kennedy would remember them because he knew he would forget. Lance gladly walked behind the wheelchair and gripped the handles as he waited for Kennedy to hear what the nurse had to say before he would start to push her. As soon as they finished and Kennedy looked back up at him he nodded and added a soft, "Yup, let's go." He started to push her out of the room and over to the elevator. Lance stayed quiet as a headache started to rush to his head. He closed his eyes as he listened to the humming of the elevator as it went down. He quickly pushed her out of the elevator and down the hall. Lance didn't like to linger in hospitals especially seeing all these people being pushed around on beds and other things.
He reached the door and held out his hand to help Kennedy up. He pulled her up gently and pushed the wheelchair over to the others that were left alone until someone came by to pick them up and give them to yet another patient that was lucky enough to leave. Lance pulled out his cell phone and called up a taxi service and was glad to hear it would be here in ten minutes. Thank god for not taking a usual half hour. Lance walked back over to where he had left Kennedy and spoke softly still considering his head was throbbing, "You can take a seat if you'd like the taxi is gonna take fifteen minutes." Lance would go out front and wait for it to come and come get Kennedy if that's what she wanted.

She nodded as she walked over to the small bench that had been outside the office doors, and took a seat looking up at him as he just stood there. She couldn't believe any of this had happened to her tonight, the fall and meeting up with Lance, and the actual conversation they had during the stay in the hospital room. "Thank you," she said quietly not knowing how he'd accept that, though she knew he'd take it better than anything else she had said over the course of the night. For once she was complimenting something he had done right instead of tearing down everything he had done wrong, and for some reason those two words felt so good to say to him.
After a few minutes had passed and he'd still been standing up she looked at the space beside her on the bench and motioned for him to come sit down. "It'll be a little while, no point standing up the whole time." She wanted to be nice to him, she had an important question she knew she had to ask him, so she didn't want to piss him off before she could muster up the nerve to say the words she knew she had to. She still couldn't believe that out of all the people she'd meet tonight it had to be Lance, what had brought those two together at the hotel? Could it have been fate trying to play some sick and twisted game on them? Right now, at this exact moment, she didn't mind and actually felt at peace with the situation. Maybe it was because she wasn't in the hospital anymore, she hated being in that sort of place.
When he had sat down next to her she placed her head on his shoulder, somehow because she'd wanted to be close to him but moreso because she'd been absolutely exhausted from the trip in and the painkillers they had given her, but she hoped he didn't mind her doing that. She had her hands crossed infront of her stomach as she snuggled somewhat, as though trying to get more comfortable in a pillow, and closed her eyes just liking being so close to him, though she'd never admit that.

Lance nodded in her direction as she uttered thanks, "No problem." He said shrugging his shoulders. He stayed standing not wanting to invade her space. He shoved his hands in his front pockets as he rocked back and forth on his heels as he looked around. He watched as people passed him and he looked for that yellow taxi even though it would be a while before it showed up. He closed his eyes for a minute as if to will time to go faster. This whole silence with Kennedy was awkward, but even if he tried to start up a conversation it would probably end in an argument so he wasn't even going to try. As Kennedy spoke to him again he was shocked at how nice she was being to him. He figured it was just how the pills were reacting within her. He knew this couldn't be just a sudden change of heart. He didn't know exactly how to go about it.
Lance silently shuffled his feet over to the empty part of the bench and took a seat. He leaned back against it and relaxed finally. It felt good to sit down even if it did make him more tired. He was just ready to get back to his room fall back on his bed and sleep tonight off. He continued to be deep in thought until he felt Kennedy's head on his shoulder. He stiffened up at the feel of her being so close to him at first. He then felt his shoulders relax as he became comfortable with it. He felt a small smile appear on his lips, but forced it away almost immediately. He continued to look around as people shuffled by. He was a curious person so people watching when he was bored was just the cure. He saw a few people look at him and Kennedy and smile at the sight of them. Lance couldn't help but feel his cheeks heat up as he blushed. This is what could have been. People could have adored them as they were truly together. Right now he didn't even know how to describe the pair sitting on the bench.
Though as time went on he felt his tiredness gain the best of him. He leaned his head down on top of Kennedy's lightly as he closed his eyes. He listened to her even breathing and again smiled a bit. He stayed like this for a while until he felt his phone vibrate. He moved slowly as not to disturb Kennedy. He checked who was calling and saw it was Rachel. He pushed the ignore button and moved it down to where his phone was on silent. He couldn't deal with her right now. The only thing he wanted was a bed to sleep on and nothing else. He looked again down at Kennedy's blonde hair that flowed over his shoulder as she leaned against him. He smiled to himself and didn't want this one to go away.

She had felt him tense up but soon relax after her head touched his shoulder, so that was a good sign as she felt herself getting even more comfortable beside him. She dropped her hands onto her leg closest him to turn into him more to block all sights as she took another deep breath, but right when she was about to fall asleep she jerked herself awake and picked her head up looking around searching for that taxi. She let out a soft sigh as she saw no sign of it, and brought her head back to rest on his shoulder.
Time had passed slowly it had seemed but soon the taxi had appeared so Kenn stood up and stretched after being so comfortable on him, and made her way towards the taxi. She opened the backdoor and slid into the car telling the driver where they needed to go, and after Lance had gotten into the car the man had been on his way.
