She was almost surprised when he stopped her and said what he said, the way the conversation had been going. She bit her lip and looked from him to the ground as she crossed her arms against her chest. This..What exactly was this? Their relationship had always been so rocky and Ava didn't do well with rocky..She like things stable, sane. What would happen here? What did she want? Love..happiness..a family someday, maybe.. She'd been on the path, so why had it not felt like the right one?

"And what is this?" she asked him unsurely, shrugging her shoulders as she looked up at him with a small smile.

"Something new, a good thing" He said with a small smirk in response to her smile. There was nothing he could do to change what it was like in the past with them but he wanted this bad to show that he wasn't that guy anymore.

A good thing..she liked that answer and found her smile grow a little as she looked at him. She nodded, not putting thought into it anymore. It was time to act with her heart, not her head. She looked down again as she slipped her hands into his and looked back up at him. "Here's to new and good then.." she said simply, still smiling at him.

He gripped her hand gently but firm. The had gotten their start then and now they were going to get their chance at a middle, and he liked that idea. He kissed her lighty and smiled at her, he looked down at her hand in his. "To new and very very good." He said with a smirk. For some reason in the next moment Elvis Costello popped up in his mind, random.

She looked down at their hands again, then back up at him. "So..what do we do now?" She asked with a small laugh, looking around the room then back at him again. She slightly wondered what people would think of them. She could already name about a dozen people that weren't her biggest fan...and what if Tory came back? She didn't want to think that she was his second best.

"Well for now we decide if we want to do dinner tonight I guess, I promise I wont even cook." He said referring to his terrible cooking skills that had been a long time joke. He couldn't stop thinking about what he would say to blake or anyone who found out they were gonna give this a go, but the latter of the thought made him just smile.

Ava laughed after he mentioned his cooking. "We want to." she replied, answering his question. "Just no Italian...all Rachel has me eating lately is pizza and pasta." She laughed again. "But anything else works."

[jack edward riley]

He laughed,"Atleast she can make pasta, I can't even boil water," He said with a smile," How about like chinese or steak or something?" He offered her.

"Well at least by order Chinese there is less chance of food poisoning..I think." She replied laughing again, then nodded. "You pick. Either works...and we really need to work on the water boiling thing...It's kind of sad, Riley."

[jack edward riley]

"I've tried plenty of times, I think it's cause i'm a guy." He said with a smirk, "Well you know what i'll surprise you, come by and i'll have everything ready." He said already having an idea of what he was going to do.

"Hey, don't make excuses..you are just as capable as anyone of boiling water." She teased, smirking a little now. "You just don't try." She smirked a little more. "Sounds good." she said. "But it isn't a surprise if you tell me." She kissed him softly glad the tension was gone now and things were getting easier.

" I told you it a surprise but i didn't tell you the surprise surprise..." He said pecking her lips gently., "see now you have an excuse to teach me the trick to boiling water." He said kissing her again.

"Trick?" Ava replied, thinking about it. "Well patience usually works...and I'm not good at that one." she replied, smirking some more and laughing again as she wrapped her arms around his neck. This was fun and she was getting excited for their dinner date.

He rested his hands on her hips and smirked down at her, " I've got no patience so i'm probably going to stick with take out for now." He said with a small laugh. He was more comfortable now than he had been for a long time. Being with her now, he didn't have to think about anything else, he just focused on her.

Ava nodded. "Sounds good to me.." she said with a smile in response to him ordering take out. "I could even loan you some take out menus.." Of course, they were at the apartment, so she couldn't..something she hadn't thought about until she'd said it. She shrugged a little at the thought, so he couldn't see how weird it still was for her. She didn't want him to think she didn't want this because she did.
