skipping moments in time - kenn & rachel

Ryan had just been dropped off at the nanny's house and Kenn had a few hours before work to herself, so instead of hanging out at the diner like she usually did she decided to go for a walk on the pier. She pulled up and parked in an available spot, hopped out of her car grabbing her purse, and made her way down the long packed pier. Her outfit today was simple, just a white sundress that she'd change out of before work, with some white sandals completing the look. Her hair was up, a messy ponytail since she didn't have time to do much with it today, and a pair of sunglasses sat on her face shading her eyes from the burning sun.

The pier seemed to be filled with gorgeous people today, but then again when wasn't the place filled with only the most gorgeous, so instead of walking too far down Kenn took a seat on one of the benches so she could just watch the people as they passed. She tucked her purse close next to her not wanting to hold it anymore, and grabbed a novel she'd borrowed from the library to start reading some of it. She knew she looked odd reading alone in the middle of a busy pier, but something like this was comforting for her.

Rachel had decided to walk along the pier for a bit, to give her time alone to think about her wedding vows. She was having trouble writing them, and so far had only written two sentences. She was deep in thought and didn't notice a kid skateboarding in her direction, until he almost crashed into her. She quickly jumped aside and let him pass. Rachel was wearing a simple, yet sophisticated outfit: black tights and a flowly flowery tank top. She had a pair of large black Chanel sunglasses on, and black flip flops. She wondered how Lance was doing on the vow front, she hoped he was doing better than she was..

Kennedy heard the skateboard so quickly looked up from her book, and out of the corner of her eye she noticed a girl that she had known all too well. Rachel, the girl that had been in the entire situation with rodney lance and kennedy. After having eighteen months to really think about it and let it sink in she had felt bad for the girl, for what had happened out of stupidity during her senior year, so Kennedy thought this might be a good time to make ammends, or at least try to if Rachel wasn't completely pissed at her still.

Kenn shut her book and slowly rose to a standing position, her book was put back in her purse as she pulled that up towards her side making her way slowly over to Rachel not knowing how this was going to go over. "Uh, Rachel?" Her voice cracked from her nerves as she hoped the girl wouldn't punch her when she saw her standing there. What the hell was Kennedy doing right now? Did she honestly expect this to go well? She took a step back hoping that Rachel hadn't heard her, and she could just turn and run away from the situation.

Rachel was deep in thought when she heard someone calling her name. She turned around and when she saw who it was she frowned. Kennedy, the girl who Lance had cheated on her with during their senior year, and who had gotten pregnant with his baby. She hated this girl so much, that it almost physically hurt her to look at her. She didn't know why she was even talking to her, as far as she knew, Kennedy hated her equally as much. She put her sunglasses ontop of her head and glared at her, what did she want anyways? "Can i help you?" she asked in a bitchy tone.

Kennedy had expected that, she knew she was hated by the girl, so of course she took another step back. She had time to get over it, Rachel and Lance had been together still for all Kennedy knew, so what did she have to be mad about? She had won hadn't she, gotten Lance and Kennedy had been left in the cold? "I just wanted to say I was-" oh it sucked having to say the next word, Kennedy knew she had to though to get it off her chest. "Sorry, it was stupid and what happened was so long ago, I just wanted to sort of clear the air," did that even sound right? She let out a sigh, this was harder than she thought.

Rach took a deep breath as she listened to Kennedy talk. So she was apologizing to her.. after all this time, did that make it right? She still was involved in the whole cheating thing. Kennedy was just as much to blame as Lance was. "I don't know what to say.. yeah it was a long time ago.. but still, i.. just.. really don't trust you.. more importantly, i don't trust you around him" she said, knowing Kennedy would know who she was referring to. Rachel crossed her arms and sighed, this was hard.. on one hand she wanted to forgive the girl and let it all go, put the past in the past, but on the other hand, she wanted to act like a total bitch and make Kennedy feel one tenth of the pain she had inflicted on her.

Kennedy was starting to get her confidence back and positioned her weight so she was standing mostly on one leg as she put her hand on her waist. "You know it wasn't all my fault right?" She said giving the girl a smirk, she couldn't believe she was saying this right now. "I'm pretty sure it was Lance that walked himself into my room, and i'm pretty sure I didn't get on top of myself and knock myself up. But yeah, he's all fine and I get all the blame? I don't think so, I don't care what world you're living in Rachel, but it wasn't all just me." Kenn was sick of being viewed as a whore, yes she'd done something wrong, and yet this girl still couldn't get over the entire fact. "I guess you don't have to worry about me being around him though, damn guy hasn't been in his kids life since he was born so I really have no intentions of trying to spark anything up."

Rach sighed angrily as she listened to Kennedy's accusations. "First of all.. who said you got all the blame? Trust me, i blamed him alot.. and didn't talk to him or forgive him for quite a while.. i never said it was just you, i believe it was equally both of your faluts. And about your kid, i don't know, if Lance wanted to be in his life, i'm sure he would but he hasn't been.. okay? And that is not my falut!" she blurted out. She turned her head away and took another deep breath, she couldn't stand to look at Kennedy for too long, it hurt her too much. When she looked at her she remembered what had happened and all those horrible memories came back to her..

Kenn sighed when she had brought up the fact that Lance wasn't in Ryan's life, and she could feel her eyes start to swell with tears. Luckily she had sunglasses on so Rachel couldn't see her emotions, and Kenn tried all she could to keep from starting to cry. It always stung when she thought about her little boy not having a father into his life, but now was not the time to discuss that. Not with Rachel. "So you forgave him and yet i'm still getting the bitch act? Just great," She said wanting to wipe the tears from her eyes but knowing if she had the other girl would know she had hit a nerve, and that was something Kennedy didn't want to happen.

Rach sighed, she felt bad for being such a bitch to her.. but she couldn't help it. This girl had almost stolen away the love of her life, and she could easily kill her for that. She did feel bad for her though, the fact that her son didn't have his father in his life. Rach didn't really talk to Lance about it, because she didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry.. okay? this is all just alot to take in, and i wasn't expecting to see you.." she said truthfully, as she looked back at the girl. She didn't want to make her start crying or something, because that would make her feel very uncomfortable.

"It's not like I set this encounter up," she said with a slight shrug not knowing what to say to the girl. She couldn't help but roll her eyes a little when the girl had said it was hard to take in. "So what, getting pregnant and having a man that tells you he'll be there for your child every step of the way, and then having him leave to go be with some girlfriend. He choose some chick over his own damn flesh and blood, and yet you're the one that has a lot to take in? How do you think I feel when my son asks where his father is? When I have to lie telling him whatever sounds good to make his father look like less of an ass when in fact he's the biggest ass of them all?" She let out another sigh, this time a tear making it's way down her cheek. She wiped it away quick hoping the girl hadn't noticed.

"I just hope you're happy having beat out a little baby for his love and time. Guess it wasn't that much of a contest though, he was just thinking with his pants like usual." She couldn't stand him at this moment, and seeing Rachel back she had a feeling that he wasn't too far behind her. The last thing she wanted to do was run into him, that would just be ackward and not something she needed.

When Rachel listened to Kennedy talk about having to lie to her son and how Lance was such an ass, she felt a wave of guilt wash over her. She knew she was partly to blame for the absence in his son's life. She cringed a little when she saw a tear roll down Kennedy's check. She felt uncomfortable when people she didn't know that well cried. "Listen.. i'm sorry for that.. it must be really hard for you guys.. I wish.. that things had worked out differently, but he chose to be with me.. and maybe it was for the best" she said, knowing Kennedy would defend herself and yell back at her.

She shook her head putting a smile on her face when Rachel had said it was hard. "He's gotten pretty good at not asking about his daddy," she said with a simple grin now thinking about her son. "He's the perfect child, may look like his father but has none of his traits making it easier to deal with. I don't wish they'd worked out differently, well maybe I wish that Rodney had been the dad and Lance had been...well nothing to me, but guess fate had something else in store for us. I don't mind, really, i'm glad his choice was you so I could step out of the drama. Ryan needs me and only me in his life right now, he's gone this far without his dad and having him back around would just complicate things." She felt really good at this moment knowing the amazing job she'd done with her son without the help of the little boys father. She couldn't be anymore proud of herself and she knew that if her mother were still around she'd be happy with her too.

Rach nodded. "Okay then, well.. i'm glad it's worked out for you. I'm sure you're doing a good job" she said, offering the girl a small smile. She didn't really know what else to say, the situation seemed pretty complicated and she was glad that her and Lance were away from Kennedy, she didn't want to get sucked back into all that drama. She looked Kennedy over and wondered what Lance saw in her.. yeah she was pretty and all, but still.. couldn't he have restrained himself?

Kenn rolled her eyes when the girl said she was 'sure she was doing a good job'. Yeah Kenn was doing a great job, but this chick hadn't even had known her and had judged her from the start. Her hatred towards Kenn seemed to start before Lance and her had even slept together, and Kenn just couldn't understand why. Maybe she was getting everything Rachel had wanted and it had pissed her off? Just like Rachels best friend Ava, she seemed to not care for Kenn after dating Blake, so it was as though both Rachel and her best friend seemed jealous for her when Kenn was just living her life. God forbid, she didn't think she had to ask permission to enter a relationship.

"I'm doing better than he could have ever," She said with a grin feeling triumphant over the situation. "And i'm doing it without the constant paranoia his chicks got because she's just afraid he'll hop right back in my bed." She said giving the girl a quick smirk before looking around the pier.
