Kennedy had thought long and hard about attending the new years celebration at Chateau Blanche, but she just couldn't bring herself to ring in the new year with a bunch of people she didn't even talk to. Knowing her she would be a loner just sitting in the corner like usual. The last party she had went to had started off good too, she had spoken to a few people that she had been close to in high school, but then having Lance and Emma show up together pretty much ruined it for her. She hated that she was jealous of Emma, she shouldn't be considering she had the chance to be with Lance and had blown it. Not once but several times, why should she be jealous? She just could not get that voicemail message out of her mind, Kennedy would lay in bed at night since the hospital and just listen to his words over and over again. His message sounded somewhat frantic but she did not mind, it was telling her he had been in love with her and even though she'd never admit it those words from him had meant the world to her.
Her aunt had taken Ryan for the night as she had wanted Kennedy to go out and enjoy herself, and since Kenn had trusted her aunt with her entire world she had no worries and knew that Ryan would be okay for the night. She hated having to give him up all the time but her aunt lived not too far from her, and she always pushed Kennedy to get back out there and build a social life back up. Her reasoning? It was never fun spending your entire life alone and Kennedy deserved to be happy. She had wanted Kenn to go to the restaurant and find someone there, but she had other plans as she pulled towards the outskirts to go to the quarry. It had been a special place for her and lance, a place where they did not have to hide their relationship because nobody had ever looked for them there, and it was there that the two could honestly be happy with one another without being judged. She knew that Lance wouldn't be there, he would probably be spending time with Emma since of course they were together and all, but that did not stop her from driving to their spot.
She stepped out of her car carrying a glass and a bottle of champagne, she was going to toast to the new year alone and curl up under a tree and try to see a star or two, and since she had been far enough away from the city she figured she just might be able to tonight. It was a clear night, a tad chilly hence her reason for wearing a long sleeved shirt, but that did not stop her from walking to the small clearing in the quarry that the two used to hang out together at all the time. She smiled to herself as she tucked under a tree and sat down leaning her back back against the trunk as she looked up, the glass being situated beside her along with the bottle. This was both comfortable and relaxing, she could see no other way she would want to ring in the new year, the start of the next decade.

Lance had gotten all dressed up for the party that was going on at the Chateau. He checked his phone seeing a few things from Emma. He had avoided her since getting out of the hospital and the whole thing with Kennedy. That same moment had been replaying in his head since the night it happened. He couldn't be around Emma afraid he would slip up and say something about Kennedy or something stupid only he could do. He blew out a sigh of relief as he turned off his phone and placed it in his pocket. He couldn't deal with the guild by ignoring Emma on New Years eve. So if he wasn't aware of the text or calls he would receive it would hopefully disappear from his mind. He grabbed his keys off the counter and headed down to his car. It was a bit chilly outside yet he was only wearing shorts flip flops and a long sleeve sweater.
He drove past the Chateau knowing he couldn't go to that party. Emma would be there and he just couldn't face her right now. He couldn't break her heart yet he knew he had to end it soon. It wasn't fair to her when he was head over heels in love with another woman. He took off past the bright city lights to where there was a street lamp every once in a while. He decided to head somewhere quiet to think. He wanted to go somewhere that had been special to him and Kennedy some place when they had both been happy and arguments weren't a problem because they never happened there.
He pulled up surprised to see a car there. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and placed his chin over his hand thinking if he should stay now. He knew who's car it was and he would have loved to see her but he didn't know if she wanted to see him. He hesitantly reached down and pulled the keys out of the ignition. He reached back and grabbed the blanket out of the back of his backseat and took a step out on the hard ground. He sighed knowing there was no turning back. He placed his keys in his pocket and threw his phone in the car window not caring that they were rolled down. No one was out here but him and Kennedy he wasn't worried what so ever.
He finally started his walk down the path towards the tree they had shared a seat with last time they had been here. "And to think I would be the only one out here on this lovely evening," he said loudly enough for her to hear him as she came into view. He got closer to her and then said, "I can leave though if you want to be alone it's not a problem," he didn't want to ruin her night by his presence here tonight. Though he was incredibly happy to see her again she looked stunning as always. He just couldn't comment on it because that would be inappropriate due to his current situation. "Though if you don't mind me staying I came bearing warmth," he said with a grin as he held out the blanket for her to see. They could either sit on it for now or use it as a cover if it got colder outside.

Kennedy was getting comfortable when she remembered a key point about the night, it had been new years and she had nothing to count the time down until midnight. Or at least she had nothing around her that could help count the time down, but in the car there had been a portable radio that she would use when she brought Ryan to the park. She would usually have it sitting beside her on a bench as he ran around and played on the equiptment, it was sort of some peace and quiet in the middle of a busy park after a day of nothing more than running around after that two year old.
She jumped up from her spot and ran towards her car and when she got there she opened the backseat and rummaged through the stuff that had been in there, god her vehicle needed to be cleaned with Ryan stirring up such a mess of everything in the backseat. Pretty much if she gave it to him he would throw it on the floor, it was just the order that things went with them. She finally did find that small radio and she pulled it out of the back and made sure it had worked, and when the sound of an announcers voice came in around her she grinned and with that shut her door and ran back towards where she had been.
When she returned to her spot she shuffled through the stations, she could not see the dial and honestly didn't care about what kind of music she listened too, so when she heard a soft slow tune playing she stopped on that station. She could listen to music quietly and when they announced it'd been new years she could, well she could do nothing more than raise a toast to herself. That is until she heard a voice coming from behind her, it sounded like lance but it couldn't be, he wouldn't be here tonight. He should be at the restaurant with Emma right?
She heard the voice again though and that had her curiously turning around to look over at him. Sure enough there he was walking over towards her, smile on his face. She did like seeing him out of the hospital bed, she had not heard any news about what was going on since that day she had went there herself. When he said he would turn around she just shook her head looking back out infront of her. "It might not be so bad to at least have company through part of tonight, even if that company is a Wright brother. I've heard their bad news and you should stay away," She grinned and joked as she looked over at him. Since that kiss she could not be mad and rude with him, that and his voice message had her on cloud nine lately. It was a shame she knew he didn't remember any of it, she sort of wished she could hear those words in person.
"Warmth is always good, I brought-" she looked around at her bottle of champagne and laughed as she picked it up and showed it to him. "Holiday cheer," she commented. Her aunt had bought this for her, if anything she would have much prefered a flavored drink or something over class champagne, especially if she had every intention of being alone when the new year was just seconds away. "So what brings you here tonight, shouldn't you be getting all dressed up and heading to the restaurant? I hear everyone is going to be there," Well everyone but her that is obviously considering she had no intentions of even driving down that block.

Lance wasn't really supposed to be driving with his recent head injury but he hadn't seen the harm in it considering he wasn't having any pain right now. He knew he probably shouldn't have but otherwise he would have subjected himself to being with Emma cause she had offered him a ride and he just didn't want to break that girls heart. His grin grew wider as the words that fell from her lips were kind ones even joking ones at that. He chucked, "Well us Wright brothers might be bad news but we like to keep things interesting." He winked at her as he kept up the lightened mood. So this might not have been a bad idea after all. Well it will have been a good idea if they could keep from arguing with one another and luckily this was a good spot for the two of them. They rarely if ever fought out here and he wasn't about to change that.
Lance laughed as she held up the champagne bottle, "Holiday cheer might have just trumped my warmth." He pouted pushing out his bottom lip as he looked down at her. He was joking of course, all fun and games. Every time he looked at Kennedy tonight he remembered those lips on his and how everything in that moment had just felt so right. Since she had initiated the kiss it must have meant the huge blow out they had had at the barn was all lies right? God, he hoped that was true. He needed to let her know that he was ending what he had with Emma. Things just weren't the same after that fateful kiss.
He shook his head at the mention of the huge party, "Why go out and spend New Years with thousands of strangers when I could be here with my favorite person in the world?" He smiled down at her as he had put a little bit of charm on those words. It was true though this had just made his night to find that she had been here instead of at the chateau as well. He loved being around her especially here when they didn't have to worry about being bothered or judged. This place wasn't as popular to the high school kids any more unless it was a school week and they needed to get trashed. So since it was vacation they would more than likely be trying to get into the party of the year. He didn't take a seat next to her just yet waiting for the okay or something. He was very cautious with just about everything he did around Kennedy and he was pretty sure she was aware of it.

Interesting, that was an understatement when it came to Lance. She just had to laugh about that, all in all she had more good times then bad with him throughout the years she had known him. Lately it had been going downhill but for a new years resolution she had been about lessening the drama and having fun with him, something she knew had been possible considering all the smiles he had given her since they had met. "How about we keep things simple tonight, nothing interesting. Dull, yeah dull sounds good." She said with a chuckle, a dull moment between Kenn and Lance? She could never dream of that.
"These days I wish there was vodka in this bottle, my aunt obviously opted for a more classic approach to new years though." Kennedy had drank before but not a lot recently, and with everything that had gone on she sure could have used a stiff drink but she was not going to turn down the free drink her aunt had given her as a holiday present, granted she still wished it could be stronger. "This does trump that though huh? I was always one up'ing you though wasn't I? Jeeze, you ever going to catch up to me?" She patted the ground beside her and looked up at him. She had to laugh though, so far she was doing good keeping the conversation on a happy note.
She stopped laughing at his next comment though, obviously he had not been serious. "What, Emma hiding behind a tree or something?" She asked looking around for the other woman, a small smirk playing on her lips as she looked up at him. "I guess you're not too bad of company for a little while, where you meeting up with her later?" Kenn asked sure that Lance would leave before the cluck struck midnight. "You can loosen up some you know, i'm not going to holler. It's the start of a new year soon so i'm figuring I should cut back on the drama, it just can't be good for my health and could be giving me wrinkles." Kenn laughed, she had always been one to care about her appearance, years as a cheerleader made that happen, but at the same time she just said that for the hell of it, no real truth behind it.

Lance gave her a questioning look, "Dull? I don't know the meaning of this word." He smiled down at her slyly. He could manage dull though...hopefully. He liked this happy mood he was seeing her in. It reminded him of her carefree happy go lucky type mood back in high school. God he remembered how back then when they were doing their thing she was all he could think about. She definitely knew how to keep a guys attention. Being nostalgic and all he sometimes wished to go back to those moment and be able to relive them with her. When they were happy together. He had never wanted to be a cheater but there was always something that had pulled him towards Kennedy no matter what girl he had been with at the time.
"Vodka now that's something I haven't had since back in high school. I was always a rum guy. Come to think of it the only reason I drank vodka was to try and impress you since I knew that was your drink." He laughed at that memory. He had never been a fan of vodka but when he had learned it had been Kenn's drink he made himself get used to it so he could down shots with her at one of the big parties their junior year. He smirked as she talked about always one up'ing him. "My time will come and i'll show you i've just been holding back all this time letting you have your fun," he smirked again as he winked at her. As she patted the ground he placed his hand on the tree and slowly let himself slide down to sit next to her. Their shoulders against one each others.
"Never can take a compliment can you?" He said with a smile as he looked at her, "No, Emma isn't around here I was definitely talking about you. Things have been...interesting to say the least with Emma and I. Kinda agreed to see other people tonight and possibly furthermore after tonight." He definitely saw that he was gonna end his relationship with Emma. She was an amazing girl just not the one for him. He had always known that the girl for him had been sitting there with him on this fateful night. He was glad to hear that she was done with the constant fighting between them. He knew it wasn't going to disappear all together but hopefully it wouldn't show up as often as it had.

"You wouldn't have been as appealing if you were dull, i'll tell you that much." She said being truthful as she looked over at him flashing him a bright smile. She loved all the time that she had spent laughing and having a good time with him throughout their high school years, and of course she sometimes wished the two were still involved in those good times. Something about Lance had thrilled Kennedy right from the start, she could not put her finger on it but he was just different from Rodney. She wasn't saying that Rodney had been dull, Lance just brought her to whole new heights when she was around him. She honestly never understood it, he was like a damn drug to her.
She let out a small fit of laughter when he said something about vodka being her drink, "You make us sound like high school alcoholics. Shot for shot you sucked the first few times, I used to laugh watching your face as you tossed them back, but I do have to admit that almost near the end of junior year you were coming around. Senior year I would have blown you out of the water, you know if I wasn't pregnant." She did not say that in a harsh way, more like she had still had that joking teasing manner going in her voice. She did not mind being pregnant during her senior year of high school, the only thing she minded about that whole thing had been the constant remarks her fellow students had given her. "I think I have drank like I used to back junior year maybe twice since having Ryan, and those were both nights that he was at my aunts. That's where he is tonight, she loves taking him and supposedly I need to get a life, who knew right?" She joked, she loved her aunt but hated the fact that she had been so involved in Kenn's personal matters.
Kennedy could feel his shoulder touching hers as he sat right beside her but for once tonight she did not tense up to his touch, if anything she felt her shoulders becoming looser as she relaxed more somewhat leaning against him because he made a better cushion than the tree. "I can take compliments, just not when they come to you." She said looking over at him nudging him in the arm a little. It was true though, most of the time she was unsure if they had been real or just something he thought she'd want to hear. Especially when everytime she turned the corner he had been dating some woman, it just was not something she could understand. When he told her about him and Emma's situation she just nodded, she had a feeling she had something to do with that and she somewhat felt bad for the other girl, but then again if he wasn't running off to be with Emma tonight it just might mean that him and Kenn could spend more time together. "That's too bad, what brought that on?" That question was just to make conversation, she was pretty sure she had been the reason behind the breaking up, or at least halt in the relationship.

Lance smirked and nodded his head. He totally knew that he would not have attracted so many women had he been boring and isolated himself. Instead he was outgoing and flirtatious which just so happened to boost him to the popular life of high school. Kennedy had always been unattainable because she had been with Rodney. They were supposedly the "perfect couple" and so had Rachel and himself. That's why it had sent a shock wave through the high school in gossip when they had found out the relationships were over because Kennedy and Lance had decided to get together. He couldn't explain it he had never wanted to cheat on a woman and hurt them the way he hurt Rachel but he was so fascinated with Kennedy. He had thought what he had had with Rachel had been love but he was mistaken what he had had with Kennedy all those good times that was love. He knew he loved this girl.
He laughed along with her, "I think I drank more in high school than I have ever since then. It just seemed like the thing to do back then at all the parties," as she described his face when he was taking vodka shots his laughs grew a bit louder, "oh god please don't remind me I knew I looked like an idiot I was just trying to keep up without throwing up." He shook his head at that memory knowing he was stupid for doing those things. As she told him where Ryan was he nodded thinking that her Aunt must have been super cool to want so many good things for Kennedy. He had a feeling if he ever did get back with Kennedy that this woman would not be fond of him. He had caused her niece so much hurt since the end of whatever they shared in high school.
As he felt her lean into his shoulder he lifted his arm slightly placing it around her shoulder letting her body completely lean against him. He hoped he hadn't been too forward by this moment but it just felt natural to him. "Ouch and why is that?," he asked curiously. He had a feeling he knew why but he wanted to hear her say it. To hear her say it didn't seem like he was genuine enough. Though that was definitely where she was wrong he was speaking from his heart when he was around her. Well except when he was arguing but that was besides the point. He shrugged as she asked about Emma, "It just felt like we were using each other to fill a hole in our lives. She had intended to get back with Landon when she came back to town. I think she still has feelings for him. I could be wrong though. I feel guilty because I think I was using her even though I like someone else. It just wasn't the best situation for either of us." He never mentioned the kiss though that played a HUGE part in his decision to bring this up to Emma.

Kennedy looked over at him laughing as she shook her head, "Yeah i'm pretty sure puking probably wouldn't have left too good of an impression with me." She said with a bright grin, though the thought had her amused. Probably because it didn't happen, she might have gotten sick herself had she seen that right infront of her. "You do know that you didn't have to change your drink for me right? I was pretty much impressed no matter what," That was so true though, no matter what the man had for a drink in his hand he looked gorgeous. Plus most of the time they had been alone alcohol had not been part of the equation, they could have fun entirely sober.
His next move made Kennedy feel all that much better as she leaned the side of her body against his so he could make his arm comfortable around her. She had reason to fight tonight, the two were going to have at least one civil night together if it killed her. Maybe after tonight they could have even more civil conversations and things could go from there. With Lance she had to take things one day at a time, no matter how they felt towards each other one day the next it could change entirely. "I'm not going to answer that one," She said shaking her head letting out a half-hearted chuckle. She knew that if she answered that they could get into a fight because she would probably say something wrong, so instead of going that route she was opting out and staying silent. "I refuse to get into an arguement on the last night of the year, i'd prefer to start the new year off on a good note." That was for sure, she had been way too damn stressed out lately and she just had to cool down and chill, and this night with Lance might be just what she needs.
Kennedy listened quietly as he went and talked about him and Emma and how they were both trying to fill a void. "I have to admit that does not sound like a good reason to be in a relationship," She remembered when she had met up with Landon one night and he got right in her face to holler at her. She hated the fact that he had a bad opinion of her just because he had been friends with Rachel, that was just stupid but from someone like him she couldn't expect much. He was just another one of Rachel's zombies, she couldn't understand what was so great about that woman. She smiled when he mentioned liking someone else, of course she had a good feeling that the person he had liked had been her. She got that opinion after the voice message. She thought about letting him hear it but figured now was not the best time, so instead she just stayed silent. She could not think of anything right now to say and of course she had to watch herself knowing she could ruin the good moment at any time. "Back during sophomore year I remember when you and I hung out over an entire weekend, I snuck out of my house and mom was clueless. Where did we manage to sleep again, a treehouse or something?" She had to laugh shaking her head, it was sad the lengths they had to go to just to be together.

Lance laughed nodding in agreement about the whole puking thing. He had gotten close a few times because of the rate they were guzzling down shots. Pleasant had just seemed too boring to all the teens so of course they turned to alcohol to spice things up. It worked though those who never got the girl loosened up and found new confidence in themselves as they drank more. He kept watching her he loved her laugh and her smile was gorgeous. "Yeah well I figured by giving myself more common interests with you the better off I would be," he smirked at her. He really hadn't known that she had been impressed with him before. He had thought he had just gotten lucky with the bombshell. "You were the only girl in high school that could make me nervous you know that? I remember tripping in front of you once in the hallway and was completely humiliated." He laughed again at this memory. His teammate had caught him staring at her as they passed the cheerleaders and his friend decided to be a pal and stick out his foot causing him to trip right in front of Kennedy.
Lance looked at her curiously for a few moments before shrugging, "Alright fair enough I guess i'd rather not find out if it would cause problems." He smiled down at her. He liked this blissful feeling. He kept remembering that night in the hospital. The kiss that had stirred something inside of him. It had given him hope that he could still be with Kennedy at some point. Tonight was just proving that his chances were getting better with every passing moment. He knew he had to agree with her about the relationship thing. They had hidden the fact that they had liked someone else while they were together but he couldn't deny it anymore. He couldn't keep lying to himself he would just hurt another girl and it would just be like a Rachel rerun.
As the silence fell upon them he truthfully didn't mind it. He found it peaceful just enjoying her presence besides him. Though as her voice broke the silence he looked at her listening intently. A charming smile appearing on his lips as he remembered that amazing weekend they had shared during their sophomore year. It was amazing the two had never just gotten together before all the mess with Rodney and Rachel. They had always been enticed with each other. "Yeah that had to be one of the best weekends I had ever had. God I was head over heels for you back then even that's crazy to think of how much has gone on between us." He leaned his head back against the tree as he looked out at the horizon as he spoke.

"I'm just thankful you didn't start wearing skirts and nail polish, you would have definitely crossed a line then." She grinned as she looked over at him before she picked her hand up to look at her nails. The polish on her nails had been alternating between blue and green on every other finger. Her and the babysitter sat around one night and did it, Kennedy usually opted for a single color straight through but the babysitter had persuaded her to give this a try. Most of the time the paint on her nails would chip or come right off leaving them nothing more than their natural shade just because she did not have the time when she was chasing around the excited little toddler. "I remember that," she said laughing as she looked over at him, he was such a goof and her and her friends sure did get a kick out of what had happened that day. "Why is that though, I mean what made me so special?" She was just confused, why had she been the only woman that had made him nervous. It was nice though in an odd way that she could have such an effect on him.
She nodded thankful that he understood the reason why she did not want to tell him the answer. "How about I answer that question on another less important night?" she stated that more than formed it as a question as she closed her eyes some taking in her surroundings as she had been there right with him, this is exactly where she had hoped she would be tonight. She knew she could not mention that, it might just weird him out to say something like that after what she had said at the party not too long ago. Her moods around him just seemed to contradict themselves, but after that message she just seemed to have a whole new change of heart. She was just curious to know how long this would last, but she was having a good time with it right now so she hoped the happiness and bliss would at least stick around for a little while.
Kennedy couldn't help but laugh when he said he had been head over heels for her. "I seriously had the oddest taste in men back then. I went out with Blake, remember that? I forgot how that ended though, I mean he was the furthest from popularity and yet it didn't matter. He was fun, different. And then there was Rodney, again he was out of the whole popular crowd and him and I had a good run, but you-" She patted his leg laughing some as she shook her head, "You were something else, both of those guys held nothing on you. I don't know what it was about you, I mean you were in the popular crowd and yet you didn't act like it when we were alone. We were just two goofs having a good time. With Rodney, yeah I loved him but, obviously it just wasn't going to work out." Lance being the only reason things did not work out with Rodney. "I guess I must have just loved you more, I don't know." She said with a simple shrug as she looked over at him.
"All this talking is making me thirsty," She said looking over at the champagne bottle and glass that she had brought. "I wanted to be civilized so I thought a glass would be nice tonight, I didn't think I was going to have company." She bit her bottom lip thinking of something. "Maybe I should revert back to my high school ways for just one night, how does that sound?" She asked as she twisted the champagne top off, luckily her aunt had bought her one she could actually get into without fighting for an hour. She poured some in a glass and offered it to Lance before she took the bottle and took a swig from it, obviously not liking it that much but it had at least been something.

"Yeahhh then if I had started doing that you might not have been the person I was trying to impress," he laughed just even the idea that he was gay was humorous. The guy had always been into girls his mom had even told him he was a flirtatious toddler. He looked down at her nails with her but he only did so briefly looking back out. When she questioned his nervousness around her he thought about it for a few moments. "Ya know I used to not know the answer to that question that I often asked myself but I think I finally know why. Every other girl was just ordinary to me something attainable and fun to be around every so often. With you it was so much more than that. I wanted to try and be as perfect for you as possible. I didn't want you to just pass me off as another guy in the crowd. I wanted your attention and to keep it. You always mesmerized me and I could never get enough. You definitely are one in a million Kennedy Adams." He said smiling as he kept his gaze out on the stars. He was nervous now having finally told her how he felt.
It wasn't meant to be cheesy that had all just come from his heart. He couldn't even believe he had just finally told her without hesitation. As she went back to his question he nodded, "That sounds fine to me." He did want to know the answer to that question but it was fair to hold it off tonight. They were both trying their best to keep from stepping on each others toes. They didn't want to set off into a fight after such a great start. Lance just listened as she talked about her choice in guys back then. He had been insanely jealous of both of those guys. They had something he hadn't had he drove himself crazy trying figure out what it was. In the mean time he tried to make her jealous by going out with different girls. He had only dated one girl outside of the popular crowd and the girl had broken up with him when she had finally caught on about his feeling for Kennedy.
As she got to describing him he finally turned his eyes to look at her. His grin grew wider as she began to practically praise him. It was good to hear these words come from her lips. To hear that he had been all she had been to him. He really had nothing to say to this. He didn't want to sound overly confident or say something stupid so he stayed silent. He took the glass from her and laughed lightly as she lifted the bottle to her lips. "My, you're a woman after my own heart," he joked as he winked and took a sip from his glass. Champagne wasn't his first choice but it was traditional for this occasion so he figured it would have to do. The words of her saying she had loved him more replaying over and over in his mind. The smile never fading from his lips.

"I bet your milkshake would have brought all the boys to the yard," She burst out laughing as she hummed the rest of the chorus nudging up against him for the full effect of the song. It had not been one of her most favorite things to listen to but since it had been popular while they were in school it seemed to play at many of their parties, the girls all seeming to have quite a good time dancing to that song. "We are both going to pretend that I never said that, alright?" She could not stop laughing, that had been the stupidest thing she could have said and honestly she wasn't even sure if it had made sense or not. "Wait a minute, why are you driving in the first place? You have that injury, aren't you supposed to be at home?" Kennedy was not going to admit it but she did call the doctors and after fighting with them she got them to release information, it was nice when she had their child for leverage when it came to getting certain information out of people.
When he started to talk about how great she had been the laughter from her lame joke died down and she looked at him more confused than anything. Why had she been one in a million? She still could not see what she had done that had been so different from any of the other girls around, but at this moment she was thankful that there had been something that made her stand apart from any of them. If there hadn't he wouldn't be here right now and she would be alone, having him here was definitely something to be thankful for. She was sick of being alone all of the time, she needed to get out and start living her life again. "I was a bitch sometimes though, i'm not going to lie." It came with the head cheerleader bragging rights, of course she was going to be a bitch when she needed to be though. At least she had kept her cool most of the time. "Thank you, I guess." She said with a bright smile, this being the first compliment she had pretty much accepted from him as of lately.
"I did love watching you play ball though out on the court. I know that Rachel had been at the games cheering with her JV girls at the time and was probably watching you like a hawk, but that didn't matter because as far as I was concerned she wasn't even in the same state as us. You were amazing out there, it was one place I truly saw you let loose and be entirely free. Maybe that is why you guys won so many games right?" She asked curiously, Lance having been a force to wrecken with while out on the basketball court. She loved watching him, the man could steal the ball and manage whichever open shot he had. She personally loved his jumpshots from outside the key, the man had beautiful form for a player and his follow through almost guaranteed that the ball would sink straight into the hoop.
After she had took the sip she could still feel the bubbles in the back of her throat, her nose scrunching up some as she laughed letting her face fall into his shoulder as she rubbed it against his sleeve trying to take away the sensation. "Oh man I forgot how bubbly this stuff was." She honestly had not had champagne since one of her cousins weddings, that being a rather depressing time for her just because she was the only relative to go without a date. She made up for the depression as she got to see her little man dressed in a tux designated the ring bearer for the event. She stopped talking for a minute as she heard the music playing faintly in the background, again with the slow classical melodies it seemed. She let out a yawn and relaxed back against Lance taking another slow drink hoping not to disturb the bottle and have it fizzle into her mouth again.

Lance's eyes widened as an amused smile reached his lips. He burst out laughing with her, "Yeah we will definitely have to forget you said that." He managed to get out through his fit of laughter. He hadn't felt this happy with Kenn in a long time and he was honestly loving the feeling. Though as she brought up the driving when he wasn't supposed to he got a guilty look on his face, "Yeah well I don't like being told what I can and cannot do." He said with a grin on his face as if to pass off as innocent. It was true he wasn't allowed to drive he wasn't supposed to do a lot of things with his current situation. He was surprised she would know that he wasn't supposed to be driving, "How would you manage to know something like that?" He asked curiously with a teasing grin on his lips. He really was curious as to how she would know this.
Lance shrugged his shoulders as she said she was a bitch, "You might have but I was an ass sometimes. We all have our moments I guess." They all went through their moments in high school. Everyone in the popular crowd had been an ass or a bitch to someone at some point. He had been there when it happened most of the time. He remembered having to comfort Rachel because Kennedy had yet again rejected her from varsity crowd. He had always wondered why she had done it but now he was pretty sure it had been from jealousy. Though he would never openly say that and seem cocky in front of her.
He listened to her as she talked about him when he played basketball. He had never thought she had paid much attention to him on the court. He had thought that had just been for the crowd, "I always was trying to put on a good show for the crowd," he laughed, "I loved that sport I would have played for PPU but yeah I got the music thing going for me. I guess we won so many games because I made sure I was playing my best a hundred percent." He shrugged his shoulders. He tried not to brag at how good he was at basketball. He wasn't like his brother how always bragged about how good he had been at soccer. Even if his brother was one of the best in the nation he would never agree to this.
He smiled and chuckled lightly as she rubbed her nose against his sleeve, "Have a bit too much there killer?" He joked as she had chugged a bit too much it seemed. He was slowly drinking it because of the bubbles another reason he wasn't a champagne fan because he couldn't chug it if he wanted to. He leaned a little over and kissed her forehead lightly wanting to have done that for a while. He went back to drinking from his glass as he too heard the music come on the radio, "Care to dance? So you don't fall asleep on me?" He asked slyly as he had noticed her yawn.

Kennedy bit her lip some as he asked the question about how she had known, but since she wasn't about to lie to him tonight she figured she would just tell him and get it over with. "So I maybe might have lied to the doctors. I called them up and said you were staying with me, and when they wouldn't give me any information I got into an arguement about how I had been the mother of your child. They actually looked back through their records and sure enough your name was there since i'd given it to them while I was pregnant." She looked away for a moment. She could not believe she had to go through those lengths just to make sure he had been alright, but since the doctors hadn't seen her in person they really could not give her much information. They just told her to keep him in bed and that he wasn't supposed to be driving, everything else they said was on his shoulders to tell her.
"Moments, try every single day." It was true though, there were certain people around there that she just could not help but piss off on a daily basis. His then girlfriend Rachel being one of them, just because she got Lance did not mean she was going to get anything else she wanted, a spot on varsity being something she obviously wished for. Rachel annoyed Kennedy more than anything, she always thought the girl had been too fake for her own good, but at the same time there had been certain instances where Kenn had changed personalities just to make a good impression on someone. "It does not matter now though, we are all grown up and those years are behind us right? she asked looking over at him with a broad grin. Tonight had been the first night that she had truly looked at Lance in such a long time with nothing but adoration and love, before it used to always be through green jealous eyes so tonight was definitely a treat in more way then one.
"How is your music thing going anyway?" She asked curiously as she looked over at him. "Ryan loves listening to the guitar, I still have the one I learnt to play when Sasha and the girls thought we could have an all girl band, oh man the good times. He loves when I pull it out and play to him while he is going to bed, quietly of course and mostly just small nursery rhymes but it is still cute. I'm sure he'd love to listen to a rockstar sometime though," She had just kind of invited him over sometime so her son could spend some time with him, yes she would say tonight she truly was trying to change for the better at the start of the new year. It sounded a little weird when she said it outloud though, but since he had been the father she knew he needed to get to go over and be with his son.
She burst out into another fit of laughter when he called her killer, man she was actually having a good time with him tonight, something that she never thought possible with him anymore. The entire world seemed to disappear from around them and it was just him and her, how it should have been straight from the start. That slight kiss on the forehead had even felt refreshing, natural almost as she didn't even acknowledge that he had done anything considering how comfortable she had been. These two tonight were stepping back in time to where they were happy with one another long ago in high school, just two kids in love having a good time it seemed. Kenn wouldn't want it any other way and hoped he wouldn't as well. "Dance? Me? Um, I haven't dance much in a while, i'm probably terrible. I won't fall asleep, I might embarass myself if I stand up and try to dance..." She was making all sorts of excuses, but at the same time she could feel herself starting to stand up and hold her hand out for him. Her mouth was saying one thing while her body was doing something entirely different, not that it had been a bad thing.
