Three days (java)

He smiled when she kissed him, but lost it when she spoke. There was a hint of it still there but he was unsure how to react. It was unexpected but welcomed fully. He had always been in love with Ava, but he wasn't usually the one to say anything, he was much more into showing how he felt.He moved closer and closed the gap with a small kiss, he pulled back to look at her, "I'm right there with you." He said with a small smile.

Not quite the response she'd been expecting...Still, she tried to make like it was nothing. He was going through a lot and she wasn't going to force him to say the words back. They were just words right? To Ava, maybe not. Saying them to him had been huge for her. It wasn't like she said them to anyone..

She smiled back at him, trying to mask how she was really feeling. "We should get going..I'm starving." she commented, not wanting to deal with this situation anymore.

"Sure" He said a bit weird feeling with her response, he hadn't know what to say and reacted to fast. He'd leave it for now, putting it near the top of the list to address soon. He went inside and started shutting the place down. Emptied the glass into the dirty cup rack and grabbed his keys and jacket. "The cars out back." He said to her as he began shutting and locking the windows.

She waited while he went inside and closed everything up, sighing to herself and wrapping her arms around her slender torso, staying warm in the breeze that had developed. She was so caught up in thoughts, she almost didn't see him come back. "Okay." she replied, smiling again at him as she followed him to the back where he'd parked.

He turned off the lights as they headed to the car. He only turned back once to lock the door before moving to the car. It was Scott's pickup truck, the one Jack had practically adopted as his own since moving here.He opened the door and slid in the cabin. He started the car up and gave it a minute to warm up, " What street is Rachel on again?" He asked her.

Getting inside she did up her seatbelt before turning to him. "Oh, uh, Pearl across from my old place." she told him remembering that that was how they'd met and become so close..living on the same street. She smiled, still trying to forget what he'd said when she'd used the "l" word, as she ran a hand through her hair and looked out the window.

He nodded as he pulled out, he turned the radio on, it was an old bon jovi song. He wasn't something he was fond of he just didn't want an awkward silence to be in the car, plus it might take his mind off a few things. He headed onto the road and headed down the street.

Ava heard the song, but didn't look away from the window as they started to drive. She was thinking too. She wasn't going to push the whole love thing. She knew he was going through a lot. Maybe she'd picked the wrong time to bring it up in the first place.

She turned back and looked at him wondering what he was thinking about. "Are you okay?" she asked him, breaking the silence.

He broke from his thoughts at the sound of her voice, "Yeah, i'm just a bit out of it..all of this just came at a wierd time." He said before picking up on where he left off in his mind, making lists and whatever he could to keep himself from addressing the topic on hand.

Ava nodded, putting a comforting hand on his thigh. "It's going to be okay.." she said looking at him. She didn't know how he could be so strong. "Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one of these days."

"Thats what i'm hoping for." He said taking a comfort of her touch, he held her hand on his thigh for a moment before the light changed and he had to return it to the wheel. He knew things hit him slow but three days was beginning to seem a bit long.

Ava looked away as he did and back out the window again as they neared Pearl Street, which was conveniently close to the pier. Well, everything in town was convenient. Driving was what most people did, but it wasn't like it was needed to get from place to place. She looked out the window at the familiar settings and it hit her. What would she do with Prince? If she took him, how would he react to Jack? She was suddenly confused.

He pulled up pearl and to the front of Rachel's house, he stayed on the curb and out of the driveway. He looked over to her with a smile, "Do you need any help with the stuff?" He asked her as he turned the radio down a bit.

Ava thought about it and shook her head, still wondering about Prince. If Jack said no to having him, Rachel could always dogsit. She had her own dog anyways. She opened the door and got out, starting away before turning back to him. "What are your thought on..me bringing Prince?" she asked him. The pup was like her child and she thought he'd get lonely being without her or people he knew. He already had lost Blake.

"Bring him, you didn't have to ask." He said with a smile. He had always wanted a dog and had always told himself he was getting to get one but still could never find the time and knew he would feel bad getting one if he wasn't home constantly on time to let him or her out,
