The ride back to the hotel hadn't seemed to take that long, but still the silence in the back between her and Lance was unbearable, but she wasn't about to talk knowing that the driver would be able to hear everything that the two said, and she knew that the two of them needed to talk only in private for right now. She watched out the window as they made their way back to the hotel, and as soon as she could she opened the door and stepped out taking in the fresh air as he'd payed the guy. She waited for him to get out though before she started walking back into the hotel.
Again, she didn't want to say something so she walked in silence to the elevator and pressed the button to call it down to their floor. Once the doors had opened she stepped in and pressed the floor button, and once they were both in the elevator shut and started towards their floor. "I can give you some money to help pay for the ride." She said knowing she wanted to do something at least, she'd felt weird having him pay for her. She watched the flashing numbers that would lead to their floor, and once they were there and the elevator opened she quickly stepped out and started towards her room.
Once she had reached the door she opened it up, he had been in such a rush that he hadn't locked it, so the first thing she did when she walked into the room was make sure her phone and everything was still there, which luckily it was, but she turned quick to meet him at the door before he made his way to his room. "Lance?" She asked, her voice starting to crack from the nerves she was getting knowing what she was going to ask him. "Do you think you could-" she took a deep breathe knowing she had to say the last word, so she closed her eyes not wanting to look at him as she muttered "stay?" She didn't want to be alone with a bump like that on her head, and since the doctor had said she shouldn't she needed him there in her room with her.

Lance stayed silent as he kept his eyes closed the entire ride. He was exhausted. The conversations they had shared had wiped every bit of energy he had. Once they reached the hotel he was grateful he was only a few more steps until he would be able to be in a bed alone and asleep. He pulled his wallet out and paid the fare as he got out. He followed behind Kennedy looking around at the people who were up and lively in the lobby. He envied them wishing he could be having some fun at the moment, but the other half of him knew that the things he had said tonight, well most of them, were gonna help him get back in his son's life. He got into the elevator and shook his head at Kennedy, "It's the least I can do." He said refusing for her to pay him back for the fare. He didn't mind at all he could pay for it easily with the job Rachel had lined up for him in New York.
Lance thought about how he was gonna have to find a new job to be able to take care of Ryan and many other things. He would have to go job searching...and also find a place to stay. Crap even more things he had to worry about. He finally shut down his mind and assured himself he could worry about them tomorrow but right now he just wanted to get to his own room and go to bed. As Lance saw Kennedy walk in her room he began to turn to head back to his room and get ready to pass out. Though as he was leaving her heard Kenn call his name. He turned warily hoping they weren't going to get in another argument but with the way she was speaking he doubted it. As she asked him to stay he kinda wanted to say no. He wanted to just walk back to his room and ignore the question, but he knew he couldn't.
Lance leaned against her door frame closing his eyes for a moment and thought about it. This probably wasn't the best idea, but he did know she didn't need to be alone. He let that be the reason he did what he did next. Lance opened his eyes and looked over at her and nodded, "Sure..." He said quietly as he walked in her room shutting the door behind him and locking it this time. He figured he could sleep on the floor or maybe in a chair. He ran a hand through his hair as he stretched his arms and yawned. He was exhausted, but didn't know what to do. He just stood there waiting on Kennedy's next move. To see if she would throw an extra pillow or something at him.

She smiled just somewhat when he said he would, and she stepped aside so she could let him into the room, and she shut and locked the door behind the two. She walked over to her bed and grabbed her bag and some of the clothes she'd thrown onto it, and threw them in the corner on the floor not bothering to make things nice and neat tonight, she'd deal with it all in the morning when she would get ready to leave. She pulled the blankets down and crawled into bed not realizing at first he'd still been standing there.
She quickly looked around for a place that he could crash, and knew that the bed had been entirely big enough for the both of them to lay there without even having to be close to each other, so she patted the spot behind her offering him the spot without having to say anything. If she had not taken the pain killers she probably wouldn't be doing this right now, but she needed someone close to her knowing that she had been through a long tough day and needed that security. Plus if he was close enough to her if she'd stopped breathing in the middle of the night for whatever reason he'd be there to hear and help her, the doctor had freaked her out when he said she shouldn't be alone tonight.
"It'd be the most comfortable option," She said softly closing her eyes as she nuzzled into her pillow keeping the light on for whatever decision he'd made, she wanted him to be able to see whatever he was doing, and at least tonight she wasn't alone so she felt safe. It was an odd feeling considering she couldn't stand Lance at the moment, but her injury came first and she was going to do exactly what the doctor had told her to, but what would happen in the morning when she was off the medicine and had seen her and him in the same room? She couldn't think about that right now, all she could think about was needing to fall asleep and work off all the troubles that the day behind them had given them.

Lance was too tired to think of another option so he just slipped his shirt off and taking his shoes off before he walked over to the other side of the bed. He smoothed down the sheet she was sleeping under and he slept on top of the sheet. He pulled the comforter over the both of them however as he got comfortable. He kept as far away from Kennedy's body as possible though not wanting to make this even more awkward than it was. He couldn't believe how calm she was being about it but then again she had taken pain pills. He leaned over her and clicked the lamp off so she could get some rest without the light glaring at her. He then turned around and faced the opposite direction than her and took a deep breath. He was trying to calm himself down as he couldn't believe he was actually sharing a bed with Kennedy. Though as his head hit his pillow all the thoughts drained from his mind.
Lance slowly drifted off to sleep as soon as he heard Kennedy's even breathing. As he was sleeping he rolled around and had Kennedy's back leaning against his chest. Instinctively he placed his arm around her waist. While he was sleeping he had somehow thought he was back in bed with Rachel and got comfortable as he drifted completely back to sleep. The night proved to be dreamless for Lance. It seemed to pass all too quickly and soon he was to be awoken by a freaked out girl that was sleeping next to him. As the sun rose and light leaked into their room Lance lay completely still. He was out still and breathing evenly as his body enjoyed the rest it was finally getting from the day of torment earlier.

Kennedy had fallen asleep quick after hitting the pillow, and barely moved a muscle the entire time she'd been under, even after he'd put his arm around her waist getting more comfortable for him. When the light started to seep into the room Kenn had still been asleep but she had this thing where she couldn't fall asleep when the room was lit, so of course she started to squirm trying to block the light entirely so she wouldn't fully wake up, but as she moved she felt something weighing her down at the waist, so with a humph she looked up awake now and saw and arm laying across her, so her jaw dropped as she quickly remembered most of yesterday, and slowly she moved her head not wanting to wake the man up. Sure enough, whether she'd wished it were someone else or not, Lance was the one laying there beside her.
Not needing to be close to him she moved his hand and climbed out of bed, watching him stir but not entirely wake up, so she took that as her chance to get away for a minute. She went into the bathroom and just looked at herself in the mirror, what had happened to have them end up in the same bed together? She turned her head to the side hoping to see the bump on the back of her head, she had hoped it'd gone down since last night, but to no luck she still had a pretty nice knot up there. She let out a sigh, well mixed in with a groan, and started the water cupping her two hands under it and poured it over her face as she had a good amount in her hands. She couldn't stay locked in the bathroom forever though, so she slowly came out unsure if he was sleeping still, and before turning to where she could see the bed she took a deep breathe, things did not go as planned yesterday.

Lance had fallen into a deep sleep and was comfortable with Kenn at his side. When she had rolled out of bed he had stirred for a second before falling asleep again. While she had been in the bathroom he had rolled over to face the window and the sun hit his eyes. He covered his face and groaned as he slowly sat up. He rubbed his eyes taking in his surroundings slowly. He looked confused for a moment noticing this wasn't his room, but then the entire night came back to him and he looked over to see Kennedy but she wasn't there. He panicked a bit but then heard the sink and relaxed. He reached over and grabbed his shirt slipping it back on and stepping out of bed. He stretched and yawned rubbing his eyes.
He needed to get back to his own room to take a shower. He wondered how this was going to end. Would she just check out and leave him? How were they going to deal with things now? It was like after the night had ended they had to go back to the awkward leave me alone state. He walked over to the window and gazed out at the people walking around and having a fun time around the pool area. He leaned his head against the window and sighed. Why couldn't he be happy again? Why did he always have to go and complicate things? He heard the sink stop and knew Kennedy would emerge from the bathroom soon. He stopped the questions from flowing to his brain and tried to keep it clear. He slowly turned around and leaned his back against the window and crossed his arms over his chest. He reached up and rubbed his eyes still trying to wake up.

After she had gotten the courage to turn the corner to where the bed was she noticed he wasn't laying down, but had been standing by the window rubbing his eyes to wake up. Her heart jumped in her throat as she came face to face with him and for the next few moments she stood frozen speechless. She had an entire night to sleep on things, to think about everything that had happened the night before, but even so she still couldn't find any words to say to him at this exact moment.
She cleared her throat hoping that by doing so she could figure something to say, but that didn't help as she still stood there opposite him. She had to say something, she couldn't just leave it at that and push him out of her room, but then again that would make things a lot easier for the both of them. Or maybe she thought that it'd make things easier on her at least, she could say good bye and go back to her normal life, but now that she knew he was going to be around what could she do? Her life would never be normal again, but somewhere inside of her that thought made her feel better about the situation.
"Look," She said finally able to speak as she moved to the bed to make her side of it, something she'd done every morning after waking up, and so she started to tug on the sheets to get them back where they needed to be to look better. "About last night," She said with a sigh not wanting to look at him, she couldn't look at him while talking about the two of them. "I just, I don't remember." She said looking up at him for a slight moment before bringing her attention back to the bed to smooth out the wrinkles on the comforter. The truth was she had remembered a good deal of it, the fights and arguements, and also falling asleep next to the man she had once lov-
No, she couldn't even think about that word when talking about him. What would happen if that would have gotten out into the open? He needed to think she hated him, the more she made him feel worthless the more he'd choose to live his own life and forget about hers, but lying only gets you so far and she was a terrible liar when it came to feelings.

Lance kept his eyes on Kenn having no problem keeping his eyes on her. He knew she had trouble with it. He just couldn't tear his eyes away from her. Even in the early hours she looked beautiful. He shook those thoughts from his mind. He wasn't going to think about that....at least not until he called off the engagement with Rachel. He was definitely dreading that moment. He would have to hurt the girl he had loved. He would tell her he wanted to remain friends, but he was sure Rachel would want nothing more to do with him after he gave her the news. He wouldn't blame her, but at least Ava knew this time and he hadn't cheated so she was upset but she was willing to talk to him this time. He came back to the reality of the situation as she spoke to him.
Lance nodded, "Well...nothing happened." He said knowing he had eased her mind about that. "The doctor had told you to not be alone last night and you asked me to stay with you. I was going to sleep on the floor, but you said I was being dumb and should just sleep in the bed." He said shrugging his shoulders letting the situation come back to his mind. Kennedy had been so kind to him opposed to the angry combatant version she had put on all day yesterday. He had felt relief and was starting to enjoy the kindness even though he knew he didn't deserve it. He didn't know how today would work. Would he see the combatant side of her again or the kind side?
Lance grabbed his shoes and put them on not knowing if she wanted him to leave. He took a seat and slipped them on tying the laces. He let his foot slide to the floor as he looked over at Kennedy. He wasn't going to make any moves towards the door unless she told him to leave. He just wanted to be prepared and not linger around when she asked him to leave. He wasn't going to make things awkward.

She let out a sigh as she sat down on the bed looking at the floor not knowing what to say at the moment. She had been in this situation before with him, he'd tell her he'd come back and he'd disappear, and the last time he'd said that he'd moved all the way to New York with Rachel. What would happen if she'd let him back in her life this time? She just had so many things she had to sort out in her mind.
Luckily as she was about to say something to her the phone rang. Kenn jumped across the bed to get it and picked it up pressing the button to receive the call. "Hello?" She asked into the phone holding a finger up to show Lance it'd be a minute and she hoped he just wouldn't leave. "Hey hun! You sleep well?" She had a huge grin on her face as her son was on the other end of the phone babbling away, but not doing such a good job at it since he couldn't talk fully just yet. "You're doing what?" She asked as she could hear her aunt in the background saying she was going to be taking him to the park, and not to show up for another few hours. "Okay, i'm going to see you later. I love you, bye baby." She said as her son gave the phone to his aunt to hang up and after she'd heard the click Kenn had shut the phone back up.
Great, she had another few hours to wait now before she could go pick her son up. What was she going to do now? She walked back over to the bed and sat on the edge of it looking at him for a moment before looking elsewhere around the room. "We should probably keep this just to ourselves, you know the whole running into each other thing." She said calmly not wanting to get upset, last time she'd done that she'd ended up with a bump on her head. That reminded her, she brought her hand to the back of her head to feel the bump, it'd gone down some but not by much. She let out another sigh, this was turning out not to be the best past few days.

Lance couldn't help but let a smile form as he heard her talk to which obviously had to be their child. He watched her closely as her face lit up. He remembered when he had been able to do that to her. Now he made her fear him and hate him. He hated himself for not being around for their boy. He hated being the terrible nonexistent father he had vowed to never become. This mindset was what was driving Lance to change his ways before it got worse. He was falling out of love with Rachel right before he was going to marry the girl and was now wanting to get back in his sons life. He needed to make this change soon before he did even more damage than he had already caused. Lance sighed as he leaned back in his chair and got comfortable as he watched her on the phone.
Then a pang hit his heart as she told him that they should keep their meeting secret. He opened his mouth to object but then shut it quickly and nodded silently. He knew this probably should not be spoken of outside of these walls. In fear of who might tell Rachel or anyone else. Lance wanted to be the one to tell Rachel that he had to end things, not someone else. He wasn't going to have someone else tell her and hurt her even more than he already had to. "Yeah you're probably right." He said finally not being able to look over at her. He looked up at the ceiling of the hotel room and started to count tiles. He did this to preoccupy himself with something to do during silence....damn add. "Oh and is your head feeling any better?" He asked as he finally looked at her his eyes filled with genuine concern. He hoped she was doing better since he had practically been the cause for her to end up in this situation.

Even thought it had been her idea to keep this a secret it still hurt that he had agreed for some reason. She had done the sneaking around thing before with him and ended up hurting Rodney more than she'd wanted to. She knew the entire time she'd been with Lance that her boyfriend would suffer if he'd found out, and of course that had been the case when he had left her stranded and pregnant. He had every right to leave her though and she didn't hold a grudge against him since it had been her fault to get knocked up by someone in the first place, especially someone that had been fully committed into a relationship of his own.
Why was it even after over two years the two were still trying to hide their encounters? Rachel, that had to be the reason. Kennedy wouldn't want her son to know but even if she'd told him he'd probably forget about the conversation only an hour later, and yet if Rachel had found out he'd been with Kennedy the entire night all hell would break lose more than likely, and Kenn wasn't ready to get into another arguement with someone, even someone as annoying as Rachel had been towards her. Kenn hated that woman, everything about her made Kenn want to scream out in anger, and yet the man that had fathered her son had been in love with her. Kenn didn't even know why she'd been so mad at her anymore, she had grown up and the grudge had started to slowly die down, but after being here with him right now the anger was as high as it'd always been back when they all went to school together.
Her thoughts started to wander for a moment before he brought her back to reality asking how her head had felt. "The bump feels fine I guess but i'm getting a headache." Probably from all the thinking she had been doing since last night. "I got a few hours until I have to pick Ryan up so I should be fine if I just relax or something, maybe take some pain killers or something?" She started to think about what the doctor had said last night, but couldn't remember hardly a thing of it. "I can drive right?" She asked remembering Lance tell her that she'd passed out the last night when they were sitting on the bench, but she hadn't done that before so she was sure she would have been fine to drive. Ugh, she didn't know anymore, she hadn't a clue about anything that was happening in her life right now.

Lance continued to look concerned as she told him she was getting a headache. He didn't remember if the doctor said she could drive, but after she had passed out on him randomly last night he didn't think it was that great of an idea, "I don't think it's a good idea you drive yourself today." He said his voice full of concern. "I'll go pick it up for you if you don't want to come with me." He said knowing she would probably want nothing to do with him as soon as she could get rid of him. He hated thinking that but it was probably true. He missed those days when the two were dying to see each other like their lives had depended on one another's. Kennedy had this thing about her that drove Lance crazy. He loved it so much back in high school. The thrill of being with her.
Lance had also loved just her. He knew he had fallen in love with Kennedy and he was curious if she had as well back then, or if Lance had just been lust. He did hope she had fallen in love with him because then he had the hope of getting back into her life as more than just her son's father maybe they could get back together, it was a long shot he knew, but he did hope for it. He looked over at the beautiful blonde and felt his heart flop as her blue eyes met his. He remembered the first time he had seen her blue eyes. They had entranced him when they had run into each other that day at his practice. He sometimes wished he could go back to those days when he wasn't fighting with Kennedy and instead having fun with her.
"You should probably lie down or something, I can go get your pain pills. Then after that I will leave you alone until you want to/if you want to ever see me again. I hope you do so I can meet Ryan and hopefully become a better dad instead of the shitty job i've done." He said scolding himself once again at the fact that he had just ignored his son for Rachel. He had loved Rachel but that was no excuse to just up and abandon his son. "It's all up to you though Kennedy if you want me to just disappear I will. I'm not looking for another string of arguments like last night god knows I deserved being yelled at though," He knew he had been wrong but he did want to make things right in his life again, "I do hope you will let me stick around though..." He said letting his smile come to his lips. He had remembered how Kennedy had once loved his smile though now it was probably the last thing she wanted to see.

"Not a good idea? What?" She said looking over at him as she sat on the bed. "How do you expect me to pick up Ryan? I need to bring him home and i'm not going to tell my aunt about last night." That was for sure, Kenn had told her aunt everything about Lance and the woman couldn't stand him for doing what he had done to her neice. She wasn't going to listen to another lecture about the man especially when her head had been hurting still. "I'll be fine, I can just drive myself over there and go home and lay down." No she couldn't lay down, Ryan wouldn't let her unless if he'd take a nap, and knowing him he'd sleep for the long car ride home. Great, today couldn't have worked out better if she'd planned it.
"Lay down? Right, yeah that is what I can do. Lay down and sleep it off or something, and then I will be fine to go pick him up." She was starting to get worried that she wouldn't be able to do it, and a slight anxious feeling came over her as she could feel her hand start to tremble. What would happen if she had to call her aunt and tell her what had happened, but maybe she could give her a convincing lie and have another night to rest the bump off? No, she couldn't do that to her son, and hated being far from him since she hadn't let him have too many sleepovers yet (just a few times with his aunt). She brought her fingers to her temples as she started to rub them as though wishing that could magically send the headache away and she'd be ready to go and restart her life. She had heard him talking but at this moment she was too concerned at how she'd manage to do this today so she somewhat ignored him.
The last sentence though made her look up from the bed as she glanced at his warm smile, and a slight smile seemed to appear across her lips but as soon as she realized what she'd been doing the smile dropped. "Look, I don't know what is going to happen. I am not going to think about what is going to happen. If it weren't for you I would be fine right now and not have to worry about how I can safely get him home." She let out a sigh, she had passed out the day before and hadn't wanted to do so behind the wheel, but she seemed to be a lot better then she'd been the night before. "What are you talking about anyway?" She asked as he talked about going and getting her the pain killers. "I have them right in my bag." She pointed towards the bag in the corner where she had some excedrin migraine (something she'd taken quite often working at the diner). She didn't remember having a prescription the doctor had given her yesterday.

Lance had thought the doctor had given her a prescription but he could have been mistaken, "Oh...nevermind then I guess the doctor hadn't given you a prescription." He said shrugging his shoulders at her. He had caught that smile as rare as it was and how short it had been on her lips but he could tell she was done with this encounter for now. He wasn't going to push things. He was tired of trying and getting shut down so he was gonna let Kennedy go at her pace. "I don't think it's a good idea you drive because of yesterday but it's not like you're going to listen to me." He said kind of annoyed by that fact. Her obstinence got on his nerves after a while even though he admired her for it at times.
"I would offer help but I can see you just want me to leave so I guess I can do that for you." He said sarcastically as he pushed himself up out of the chair. He just wanted to get out of the room now. He wanted to get away from her so he could think without having to worry about a smart ass remark or some condescending look. He also wanted to leave before he said something he regretted. He was trying to make a difference in his life and get back in hers and his anger wasn't going to mess it up for him. He walked over to her bag that she had pointed to when she had told him about the migraine medicine she had. He reached in and found the bottle pulling it out. He opened it and pulled out two pills and then grabbed a glass and put some water in it from the sink.
He walked back into her room and walked over to her holding out his hand and giving her the pills and then handing her the water. He walked over to the hotel standard dresser and leaned his legs against it placing his arms over his chest as he looked down at the plain carpet. He was waiting for her to agree with him and kick him out because he wasn't just going to up and leave and get crap from Kennedy the next time, if there was a next time, he saw her.

She watched as he walked over to get the pills and held her hand out so he could drop them in hers, and soon tilted her head back to swallow the pills with the glass of water. She drinked whatever was left in the cup and stood up as she gave him a nod. "I'll manage, i'll find someway to get him home." She stated that as a fact, one thing she would never do was put her son in danger, so if she could just get her aunt to bring him home for her all she'd have to worry about would be getting herself home. That could be easy enough, so now she just had to think of something to tell her to make that happen, but that would take some time so luckily she had the two extra hours.
"I think you should just go too," She said looking at him for only a moment before passing him and going to the door. "I wouldn't want anyone to find out and the longer you wait to leave the more chances someone could see us are." There had been nobody that knew them there, Kenn had known that much, but it had been a good enough lie she thought for letting him leave. Part of her didn't want him to go but the other part of her had the stronger opinion right now as she opened the door to look out into the hallway. "Okay, coast is clear." She said not noticing anyone in the hall. What the hell was she doing that for anyway? She had nothing to hide, they hadn't done anything wrong, and yet she was freaked out still.
"Wait," She said as she looked over at him walking back into the room keeping the door open for him. "Um, your number maybe? I mean if you moved you probably had it changed. Did you have it changed?" He had been on her speed dial, still was actually, but since she'd never had the nerves to call him she hadn't a clue if that had still been his phone or not. "I might need it if I want to, well you know, Ryan." She said shrugging not being able to form clear sentences as she grabbed her phone out of her purse. She opened it up and her background had been a picture of her son, she couldn't help but smile as she looked at him. She brought the phone to him and let him have it so he could see what their son had looked like.ooc, had to find a kid that looked like both of them, this boy was too cute!
